I brought my elderly husband who has Parkinsons and Dementia into the restaurant where we have been customers for a very long time. It was just 4:30 pm and there were very few customers. The young woman at the counter acted like she was doing us a great favor by taking our order. Never smiled or even pretended to care about her customers. None of the males working made eye contact and were obviously trying to avoid speaking to anyone who came to the counter. I had hoped to get actual silverware so that my husband could eat his salad and extremely hard crust sandwich. No, no help, no eye contact , no obvious silver ware. My husband had problems eating and eventually just decided not to eat the Panini styled sandwich on the Italiano. If people working there had been just a bit interested in their few customers, it might have been more pleasant. Besides having to brush off the crumbs from the table where we were sitting at, I had to retrieve my own box to take the pitiful excuse for a sandwich home. A terrible dining experience which will not be repeated .

Got the clam chowder bread bowl and a chili bread bowl. Both taste delicious. Service was quick with no one in there at the time. You get your money worth at $10 a bowl plus butter for your bread. I would definitely return to get the same or try something new.

I love boudin bakery! I have been coming to boudin's for the past 25 years or so, when they were located at fashion valley Mall. I've been to the Balboa avenue location a handful of times and am so glad that this location is still open since the one at the mall closed a couple of years ago. Every time I go, I end up ordering the same thing because it's so delicious, I get the turkey and havarti sandwich. Something about the way the bread is so crusty and chewy, it's almost a challenge to eat a sandwich but so delicious! And the sliced turkey that they use does not taste like typical refrigerated sliced turkey like you would get at a low-end sandwich shop, it tastes like good quality fresh turkey breast. One of the thing, they have a very generous rewards program that if you download their app, you qualify for a free small loaf of sourdough bread every month with any purchase and on your birthday they give you a free birthday cookie of your choice. Anyway I plan to continue eating at boudin's for the next 25 years or longer hopefully! And yes the food is just as good at the Balboa avenue location as it was at fashion valley Mall.

I had the clam chowder and the Dungeness melt. I was expecting the melt to be a bit bigger. And the clam chowder looked like they used heavy cream and threw in the veg and clams. When I’ve had clam chowder it’s supposed to be thick and not watery.

I have eaten here many times. We went tonight 3/20 6:00pm. The food as always was great how the place was so filthy. Every table had not been wiped down. I was embarrassed that I asked my friend and had bragged about the place. I will go back however, if it's in the same condition, I'll stop going.

Tried this place on a whim a couple months ago with my daughter because we were in the area. We have made it a regular spot for the two of us to eat because we love the food, the prices are reasonable, and the folks that work there are always friendly. The experience that is prompting me to write this is last night Jennifer went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. She even gave my daughter a cookie because they could not make the shake she wanted to order (it was close to their closing time so I assume that had something to do with it. We also bought our dog a Boudin dog toy that looks like a loaf of bread and he loves it.

The food is so warm and delicious. Price wise I think it's fairly normal. The employees are pretty friendly.

Good food here! I like the bacon or the Brie grilled cheeses with the spring salad. Sometimes I get the bread bowl clam chowder instead.

Had lunch there today around 2:38 on Saturday Placed an order with a server vs the automated machine. Checking out it asked if I wanted to leave a tip and I'm usually Leary about doing that as I usually tip off of service but i did anyway Dining room wasn't busy but there was empty tables with dishes on pretty much all the tables. Almost 30 minutes later we finally received our food. It was good and presentable, tasted good but asked about my bakery items that I ordered. Server said, "you didn't get it at the front counter". I said no, that's why I'm asking you. As bakery how can you not get a good cookie? No stocked napkins, spoons, forks or knives where they usually are. Now you know why I don't like to tip before I get my food? Service wasn't good, dining area needed help and bathroom was horrible. If you like this food and want the San Francisco vibe this is the place. Aka "Boudin's San Francisco". No pics. I'll spare you the details. But only one as it's my proof I was there.
