Not bad. A very gin-heavy establishment, but when you consider gin's history with naval travel, it makes sense. There's some amazing decoration in here, and the drinks were good. The food was okay. I'd definitely recommend to go at least once just to see how it looks inside. Personally I'm always going to lean heavier towards their joint business the Grass Skirt. There was a bit of a delay on getting our drinks and I thought that was weird for a Tuesday with a fairly light crowd.

Maybe it's because we tried Captain's Quarters on a Sunday...? But I don't even know where to begin: -30 minutes until we received our drinks (4 people) -$16 for ONE itty bitty Gordita Crunch?? C'mon... -Only enjoyable dish for our entire group out of 5 dishes ordered was the Croque Monsieur (not hard to f*ck up, folks!). -Service was terrible. And there were only 4 full tables in the joint! -I get that this is an at-sea themed speakeasy. But why are all but 2 specialty drinks GIN! Come on...IPAs happened because of these ships, use Jefferson's Ocean's bourbon in a fun drink...lots of other delicious options! Grogs, Nancy-s, RUM!... Overall...very disappointed 2 hours and $200 + 5% "surcharge" later...

Captain Quarters exudes an authentic speakeasy ambiance, transporting patrons to the Prohibition era with its dimly lit, intimate setting. The carefully crafted cocktails showcase a mixologist's artistry, and the menu pays homage to classic libations while introducing innovative twists. The discreet entrance adds to the clandestine charm, making it a standout destination for those seeking a refined, immersive experience in mixology and ambiance. If you love gin, this is definitely the spot to go to. The service is amazing and the staff is beyond friendly.

Loved stumbling upon this hidden gem. Drinks were delicious, the bartenders were lovely and they made sure you stayed hydrated. Music was great and of course the atmosphere was fantastic!

I really enjoy the papas and the fried pickles however the service can be hit or miss. I enjoyed sitting at the bar rather than sitting at the regular seating. Each time I went the glasses for water were either really tiny or full size which kinda of sucked since I would run out so quickly. The cocktails were decent. I did have one bad experience were the sever wasn't attentive and when asked if we wanted another round of drinks we said we were good for now, she came right back with the bill and proceeded to stare me down with the little handheld device as I picked the tip option. Due to the pressure of quickly handing back the device and signing for a tip, I felt obligated to give a much higher percentage than I usually do. Which doesn't seem right at all for the customer. Especially since we were basically kicked out after saying we were good on another round. All in all the other times I've gone were great just one bad experience.

Austin made a crazy drink. The island bird is one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a very long time. Thanks to everyone involved.

Cute little speakeasy. We were happy we were able to make reservations, small bites for food, the drinks are where it shines. The entrance was near the kitchen and a wall opens up to go in. The ambiance was cool, little ports where water is going back and forth. The Gin was good. The Singapore Sling was refreshing. The Mocktails were good.

After filming in Pacific Beach my partner and I drove to this speakeasy. Multiple times I have been to Grass Skirt so I was confused when the GPS led us here. When we walked into the establishment we told the host that we were looking for Captain Quarter's. The wall on the right side popped open. The host walked us in and sat us at a table. The decor had an upscale sea captain vibe. The speakeasy was larger than anticipated. There were circle windows that displayed being out on the ocean during the sunrise, and during a storm. There were also rectangular windows that were still shots of a sunset. The visual effects would be more appealing if there was continuity. Our server was also the bartender. We ordered the Gunwale Old Fashion and I believe the Skipper Colada. My partner has an allergy to nuts so he had a reaction to the old fashion. We don't know what caused it because we checked with the bartender if the mole bitters were a nut allergen and she stated it was not. My partner doesn't have an allergic reaction to the Disaronno so it could have been the amaretto. My partner order another drink. I cannot recall what it was. I can't remember much about the Skipper Colado. It was a nice drink yet something I am not interested in ordering again. We left and went next door to eat poké. Then we returned for dessert. We ordered the only dessert they offer which is the Fool's Gold. The dessert was the best item we ordered! It is a sticky toffee date cake with honey yogurt garnished with mint. In my opinion, the yogurt doesn't pair well date cake. The date cake is delicious! Unfortunately, it is such a small portion. Especially, for $11.00 the restaurant could provide a larger portion. I am glad we tried this speakeasy, yet it is not a place will be running back to soon.

First and foremost this place is outstanding on many levels. The presentation and service is incredible. The food was delicious. The drinks are also delicious, but... The drinks are rather stingy. Perhaps it was the bartender of the night. I'll give this place another opportunity.
