A Friend and I went to Crab Hut Mira Mesa and were very disappointed. The cocktails (ginger pina colada and poolside mai tai) had minimal flavor and no significant alcohol was detected. Neither of us finished our cocktails, that's how sad they were. We ordered clam chowder and gumbo soups which were decent. We also ordered the crab poppers- yuck. They were basically little fried pouches of some sort of puree drowning in sauce. If there was crab in there, we could not tell at all. We also ordered the calamari and sweet potato fries. The fries were great but the calamari was pretty rubbery/chewy. Not supposed to be like that of cooked properly. It was over cooked. We enjoyed the oysters but they served them with tiny packets of hot sauce. If you are skimping so much that you can't provide your customers with a bottle of hot sauce on their table, that's a problem. Even with happy with happy hour pricing, our check was over $100 for bar food. Also, be aware that they automatically tip your servers 18% by adding it to your check. We definitely won't be going back.

Food was good . Definitely overpriced. 2ppl $200 . Adding a 22% tip automatically is ridiculous, we wont be going back .

Worse customer service ever! They have certain rules and regulations when doing phone orders they told me I couldn't make substitutions to food that I was paying for, that I have order before with the substitutions. The manager is rude and races I recommend you do not spend your money here!!

This restaurant is constantly deleting my comments on instagram. Can't even address why there is a mandatory 18% tip. Not worth going here.

Food was delish. Service was awesome, but the price was ridiculous. 18% gratuity for 3 people is crazy. Our food cost was $180 and taxes and gratuity was an additional $50. What?! The food is good, BUT is it worth it?! It was quiet in there with the exception of staff talking at the register/side station.

Last weekend, we decided to go for a crab bake at Crab Hut and ended up sampling two of their enticing dishes. The restaurant was a well-organized space adorned with a charming oceanic theme. We ended up sitting outside in the sun and it was amazing, although the interior was equally inviting. Parking was a breeze, especially if you opt for the southern end of the lot rather than vying for a spot directly in front of the establishment. Our dining experience kicked off with stellar customer service. It's worth noting that a gratuity of 18% is automatically included in the bill—an arrangement we found reasonable given the exceptional service we received. In fact, our waitress went above and beyond, promptly seating us with a warm smile and attending to our needs with remarkable attentiveness. Despite the tip being pre-added, we felt inclined to add more as a token of appreciation for the outstanding service.Turning to the food, we started with a serving of calamari and fries. While the portion sizes justified the price, we found the calamari lacking in flavor and seemed overcooked. However, the fries salvaged the appetizer, boasting a satisfying crunch and delightful seasoning. For our main courses, we opted for the Spicy Cajun Pasta and the Spicy Jambalaya. Both dishes were executed flawlessly, with the pasta perfectly cooked and infused with just the right amount of spice to complement the succulent shrimp. The Jambalaya, teeming with an abundance of seafood and meat, surprised us with its robust flavor profile. Though I would have preferred a bit more heat, the dish still left a lasting impression. In conclusion, our dining escapade at Crab Hut left us with a generally positive impression. While the appetizer fell short of expectations, the exceptional service and well-prepared entrees more than made up for it. We look forward to revisiting Crab Hut in the future for another taste of their enticing seafood offerings.

Food was great, the service was okay, place wasn't as busy which was fine because we got seated right away, but this will be the last time we are visiting crab hut , I felt so robbed after receiving my bill, we got a couple beers, seafood boil and an appetizer (wings) also rice and a soda. Automatically got charged 18% gratuity for a party of 2 !!! One small bowl of rice was $5 bucks ! And a cup of soda was $5 bucks ! Bill came out to $200 ! Sorry crab but your prices are way high we won't be coming back.

I have celebrated my birthday on a Monday night, and the staff had made it very special. I had a group of 14 individuals and they treated us with care. I am so thankful of the staff and the food was delicious. I am so appreciative of this place! I can't recommend enough!

If you're trying to decide to come here or "the boiling crab" down the street, come here! The prices are fair, the portion size for a bag of crab is generous and the flavors are great. They don't overpower the great taste of crab. I'm an absolute crab lover and grew up going to Joe's crab shack and now I have new standards. I didn't even know how delicious crab could be until I went here. Amazing!
