I came here many times when I was younger and started craving sweets again. The place is quite clean, a bit dark but it wasn't that bad. The donuts are really good, I got this maple split with cream in the middle. I bought two, one chocolate and one maple for a total of 5 bucks. The owner was really nice and quick service. It brings back memories.

This little spot is a doughnut shop feel, but I was on the hunt for chicken and waffles. I ended up getting 1 waffle and some of the juiciest fried chicken pieces I've ever tasted. They had a unique coconut cream sauce that was for the waffle. It was so good. If I am ever in San Diego again I would love to go back. There wasn't any room to sit and eat inside so I ate in my car.

I have been going to this Donut Star for many years and as the years pass, other donut brands pale in comparison. This Donut Star uses only real, traditional ingredients and fried in the traditional way, making the best donuts in San Diego. I used to go now and then for a treat or dessert, but now I pick up a few donuts every time I'm nearby, even if it's several times per week. Their looks and tastes bring me back to the happiest days of my childhood. I recommend them above all other donut shops.

I give it a 5 stars to da Donuts Star cause da Donuts was very delicious, n fresh, but damn da price for a dozen was insane $31.00 I've never paid over $14.99 for a dozen. Best donuts ever but I'm sorry I won't be going back home at to expensive.

The raised donut was delicious. The buttermilk donut was also really nice.The old fashioned seemed like it would be really good if you got one more recently made.

So..let me first say the donuts are absolutely delicious at Donut Star on the corner of University and Fairmont Ave. The compliments stop there. On two separate occasions I came to the counter to get a donut. I politely asked the woman to please wash her hands before serving me because I saw she had been surfing on her cellphone and handling it for a good 2 minutes before she saw me at the counter. She immediately came irritated at my request. I was shocked that she would have that response. I tried to explain my request I help her see my point to no avail. About 3 weeks later, I came back to get another donut this time (and I kid you not) she was handling money. She counted out $400 to give to the customer ahead of me. Once again I asked politely can you please wash your hands before you service me. Again she was explosively angered at my request. Man oh man.. I'm I wrong?? So I will no longer be getting a donut from that location. Buyer beware do nut buy do nut

Hole in the wall donut place in the parking lot of a 7/11. Doesn't look like much at all but the donuts are actually surprisingly delicious. They are cash only, but there is an arm in the store if you need it.

Surprisingly great donuts for a good price. In the same building as Ali's Chicken and Waffles so it's great to get both at the same time you can have a donut while you wait for your chicken. Might not look like much but the donuts are always fresh and taste great.
