OMG! David is fantastic! He goes above and beyond to accommodate any request. I can’t promise he can do it for everyone, all the time, but tonight, he made magic happen and we loved coming here and being served by him. All with a huge smile! The food was delicious, plentiful and most importantly fresh! We recommend! If you can get David, you won’t be disappointed! ?

This has become my boyfriend and I's go-to place. The sushi is really good and the servers are beyond great. I love the outside seating with the fireplaces, so comfy!

It's the best rated sushi spot in the area for a reason. Everything was fantastic. The salmon was some of the best I've had.

The decorations and vibe of the place are interesting for sure but the sushi is good, not the best I've had, and the service was fine.

Great sushi with some good unique items. A bit on the pricey side but the quality is top notch. The love roll was very good.

I'm not sure how this place wasn't packed. The sashimi menu was quite extensive and the staff was very knowledgeable of the different types, cuts and was easily able to make recommendations. We settled on the king salmon sashimi, edamame and the best veggie tempura I've had in quite some time.

The service was impeccable and the sushi was exceptionally good! Came on a Friday night before a show at the Balboa and was surprised how empty it was. Walked right in with no res, which is a luxury in the gaslamp. Maybe people don't know about this gem yet??

The nigiri-sushi was well-made but the fish was subpar. The udon tasted flat. The wine was not good.Definitely better-tasting sushi restaurants out there

The waitstaff were so delightful and friendly, and the sushi was phenomenal - both the fancy Sunny Roll and the simple Salmon Roll. Absolutely will come back.

I ordered takeout so I had to wait for my rolls to be prepared. The waiters were very friendly, I was even able to see the preparation process thanks to the sushi chefs Andy and Ruty. They prepared my order and as you can see its flavor, the rainbow roll with different fish was delicious. 100% recommended if you are looking for sushi made on the spot and with fresh ingredientsParking: It is Downtown, all parking is payable but at the restaurant they can give you a discount ticketKid-friendliness: Special orders for childrenWheelchair accessibility: It has a ramp for wheelchair access.

I had higher hopes for this place. Unfortunately, the server was obviously sick with something. It was disconcerting to see someone literally sniffling/runny-nosed touching and serving plates to everyone. I don't want my beer glass or sushi with a side of smeared mucus. On top of that, the bulgogi beef was served with a chunk of raw meat. Clearly they had rushed the cooking without fully separating the cuts, resulting in a clump of meat that was purple and raw inside the tangle. While they did offer a discount on the dish, this was not a sufficient service recovery. The pictures of the dining area are more interesting than the actual place. Inside is a confused Renaissance era fresco look paired with a speak-easy bar, oddly placed televisions, and a tacky cart made into a makeshift counter since the behind-bar access is totally opposite to where the people making sushi work. The food overall was only ok, with nothing that even "wowed" me. Sushi: fishy and bland, gyoza: greasy and bland. Bulgogi: ok, but raw. The best part of the meal was the beer (which they didn't make) and leaving. All in all, this place was over-priced with below average food. I will say the server would probably be great if she hadn't been sick, and for someone not feeling well I was impressed with her attentiveness.
