The food was excellent. The service stood out as amazing. Six out of five stars. I asked for a sample of the Molé Poblano to taste, and they brought me all four. This is above and beyond and much appreciated. All four moles, by the way, were amazing. I had the Chile Relleno , and it did not disappoint. The margaritas were really good as well. The decor and ambience was cool. All of the walls are clear shelves with tequila bottles all over the place. Very cool.

I’m quite the newb to Tequila, so I asked Fernando to take me through the journey of appreciating good Tequila. I highly recommend asking for Fernando who took the time to explain the different drinks, understand my flavour profile and recommend drinks. The food also loves up to expectations. THIS IS NOT A SHOT BAR!! Enjoy the company, great food and over 800 types of Tequila brands. El Agave has a private collection of 3600 Tequila bottles

Food is slightly elevated for the area. Drinks are purist, and fresh squeezed, with a top shelf selection.Their mole reminds me of my friend's parents when I was growing up in East county. Excellent homemade quality taste. They provide 3 salsas up front. Each unique and fresh.Overall, fresh and handmade are the keys to the quality. If I could give their atmosphere six stars, I would.Parking, as usual for Old Town, is difficult at peak hours.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a side entrance where it is easier, but not simple. The main entrance from the parking lot is a staircase with a 180 halfway up.

Really great place. Had probably more food than we needed (large group of 15) but we had a large variety so I enjoyed it. Maybe one day I’ll try all the tequilas but last night wasn’t that day. Had the ahi tostadas, tacos de pescado and a glass of Clase Azul. Definitely coming back next time I’m this far

Use to come here lots for great food & atmosphere. We have family in town & need vegetarian options. But their website is messed up. Can’t see the menu, can’t write to give them a head’s up….

The food was amazing but the portions were TINY. There is a variety of tequila to choose from too. Service was a little slow trying to order and get the check. Over all a good experience though. Be aware of parking, not a lot in the parking lot and street parking was hard to come by.

I had friends flying in on a late evening flight on a Wednesday. They had suggested one of their favorite Mexican restaurants in Old Town. However, upon a bit of research, we learned that most of the restaurants in Old Town close early mid-week. We wanted a nice place to sit and catch up, and the one place open until 10 was El Agave. Apparently the restaurant has been there for a long time, but I was surprised that I had never been. I arrived ahead of my friends, parked easily in the small parking lot and headed up the flight of stairs to the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the decor... the walls are made up of bottles of tequila behind glass.... all throughout the restaurant. I was promptly greeted and seated on the indoor patio area. As it was around 8:30, it wasn't too crowded, but additional parties came in after I did. I was readily given water in glass bottles, and chips with three dips (red salsa, green salsa, and bean dip). The dips were all delicious. When I looked at the menu, the first things that I noticed were the varieties of tequila and mezcal flights. I wasn't in the mood to drink much, so I chose a Cadillac margarita instead. However, I would like to come back for a flight sometime, as they have so many varieties. The menu is not of a traditional Mexican restaurant, but a bit more high end with a bit of fusion. It is also on the pricey side compared to many of the other restaurants in Old Town. My friends and I all had margaritas and we chose various appetizers. I had the shrimp chalupas, which were very good... and filling. I took one for lunch the next day. Service was excellent. Our food and drinks came quickly, and we were not rushed at all.
