Been years since we have been here. Stopped in on a whim today. Not too crowded today. Smelled wonderful when we walked in. Friendly staff at the register. Wife ordered beef taco with rice and beans. I got the April special- Sopes. I love sopes. Not everyone can make them right. Often use store bought sopes. These were fresh. Plate came with 3 sopes on it..only managed to finish 2 of them. My wife enjoyed the taco, rice, and beans. Place was clean and atmosphere pleasant and typical of a Mexican restaurant.

Went here last week, and the food was amazing. 1st time here and won't be the last. They close early, and that's the only downside. Just have to get there early. The food is worth it the wait and closing early part. Staff is great, and for how busy they get, the food comes at a quick pace.Parking: I think after 6 pm the parkings free on the street.

I knew I’d enjoy the food even before I tasted it. One of the best staff was the lady at the cashier, great ambience sitting outside and free parking.

Have been going here off and on for about 50 years. My favorite Mexican food restaurant, whenever I am in town I always make it a required destination.

Lunch with a friend in a familiar spot, and even the almost daily rain squalls didn't dampen the mood or our appetite. El Indio never disappoints, the enchiladas plate was massive, but so tasty that only a small lunch was left to take with. While my carnitas burrito looked unconquerable, I was able to enjoy all of it. Thanks to the flavor filled pork, and my 25,000 step workdays, I was unable to stop eating, and what I really wanted was a nap. Alas, the reality of 4 more hours of providing excellent customer service overrides my wants, and I use the experience of the great meal to remind myself how good it feels to do things right, to make sure things are right for customers, and the fine folks at El Indio have known that feeling for Decades ! Bravo !!Kid-friendliness: 2 open patio/seating areas and inside booths, plenty of options.Wheelchair accessibility: All areas accessible to chairs, scooters, and walkers .

This restaurant does not serve authentic Mexican food. We ordered chilaquiles and the sauces were not good at all, the beans were sad and tasted like canned beans, not fresh, and the meat was tasteless and chewy. The staff was friendly but we were disappointed with the food.Parking: Free parking across the street.

Important thing I missed: they have a free parking lot.Pros: it’s super close to the airport so you can relax without worrying too much about traffic if you’re heading there, food was delicious and plentiful… I wish every place had a salsa bar. I had a taco and tamale entree and both were good.Cons: there was a lot of seating available inside but the tables all needed a good wipe down. We came before the dinner rush so I was surprised.

The carne asada burrito it's not carne asada. It's more like a "bistek de carne" burrito ? and tasted good. The tacos dorados de papa are really good.

We have gone to il Indio a number of times and the food is always pretty good. The counter service is usually friendly and quick. My favorite food is the bunuelos and il Indio makes the best in San Diego.
