I ordered the crudo as my main and it was very disappointing - it lacked flavor. I also had tacos and the meat inside was dry, I couldn't finish it. We were seated in the outside area and it was a cold night, but they couldn't provide any heating lamps because the restaurant were out of propane tanks. Unfortunately they only told us that after we were seated, otherwise we wouldn't have dined in the shivering cold. My friend went to the washroom before she finished her meal, they cleared her plate (more than half full) without asking anyone at the table before taking her plate away - her fork and knife were not placed in the finished position. My friend was peeved when she came back from the washroom because it was an expensive meal, but didn't seem to mind because she admitted she probably wasn't going to eat much more of it anyway.

We recently had dinner there and only writing this review because of our experience that matched alot of other reviews. after reading some other reviews a lot of the same issues were still present after 6-7 months of being open you would think things would get better. Slow service, took a good half an hour to get our drinks. We ordered 3 appetizers that took even longer and we didn't even get one of them. When we ordered our dinner, they were out of enchiladas and the birria. this was at 7:30 on a Saturday night. How can you be out of items like that so early. What we did order was bland and not much flavor. My wife ordered the carne asada quesadilla and there was a good amount of chewy and fatty meat in it. My son order al pastor tacos that was the same. Not good. As many other people have said I've had better food from a taco shop. Menu is limited with nothing out of the ordinary. The music in the backround was way to loud. Not sure what vibe they're trying to give but it was annoying. We went there because we wanted to see what took the place of one of our favorite restaurants- La Pinata. we would go there practically every sunday night. We will not be returning. For us El Sueno is not so bueno.

El Sueño in San Diego is an absolute gem! We chose this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and made to feel truly special by every host. The food was nothing short of amazing—each taco plate we ordered (Birria, Shrimp, and Pollo) was bursting with flavor and generously portioned. And let's not forget about the margaritas—absolutely delicious! Our family from out of town couldn't stop raving about the experience. El Sueno is the place to be!! Not only was the food bomb but Ricky and Jacob were super welcoming to my family and we felt at home. The vibe and atmosphere is on point here due to the awesome staff. Also the Mexican Candy shot was AMAZING! Highly recommend!!Kid-friendliness: We showed up late at night and our kids still had a blast and ordered from the kids menu. They felt comfortable and welcomed by staff.

A nice and very quiet place, you can talk comfortably, there is not much noise...the girls at the bar were very attentive, very good service, my husband was a little angry asking for something at every moment and they never got 100% angry for them. ..

They took a very long time to ask us if we were ready to order and they served a different table that came in after us before we were served. Good didn't take long to arrive but the drinks we ordered took too long, even worse we asked for water in the meantime and that took 25 minutes. We order aguachiles and the shrimp were tiny and portion was very small for the price we paid.

I had to witness the worst scene of racism/classism, a person of color and in different clothes came in, when asking for something they told him that it was closed when there were still a couple of hours left to close. I decided to retire better, I can't stand that kind of deal. Terrible decision of the managers ????????#we all deserve a good deal

Service makes such a huge difference! The tacos and drinks were great, the vibe was great, and our server was warm and attentive. However, starting out the evening with an exceptionally rude hostess interaction brought it down for is.
