Their service were friendly and quick. They have a very large menu but they might not have everything and the lady will tell you what they have in stock. I originally ordered birria fries but they said they ran out of fries so I ordered two fish tacos and a spicy fish burrito.I think their fish tacos were pretty average. They weren't bad but they didn't really stand out to me. Their burrito was a bit better. My sister ordered a birria taco and I did not like their birria and I'm kinda glad I didn't get the birria fries. Their menu was not too pricey.Fish Tacos 3/5Spicy Fish Burrito 4/5

This is El Prieto. They have several food trucks in the area, Chula on Main St. where I was first introduced, El Cajon and this on University. Love the Chula, tried El Cajon but was not impressed and this where the food was as good as or as the cook said, “Better!” ? Can’t argue.Had six fish tacos and two marisco seafood ones thinking they might be much smaller. Nope. Could only eat two yesterday and two more breakfast.El Prieto will remind you of the great marisco stalls in La Paz, Mazatlan and PV. Signs have different prices for the same items, hahaha, but well worth whatever the price is.Was told cooks changes in El Cajon so heading that way again! I recommend this food truck, if not to hang with the cook!

New ownership. It all makes sense now. Eaten here many times in the past approx 15. Approx 6 months ago i had my favorite tostada locita. A couple days later a was sick. I could not pinpoint it on this place so i let it slide. Just didnt go back until 10 days ago. Ordered the same thing and bam. 24 hrs later it kicked in. Lasted an entire week. Still feeling the effect a bit. I dont know how this place can stay open. Seriously dangerous to eat bad shellfish. Im a tough guy and almost ended up in the hospital. Prob should have went. I will never get near tgis place again.

Have been coming here for a few years and been loving the fish tacos. The older gentlemen that was working the truck was always friendly and made them so perfect. Then two girls started to work the truck and the tacos were ok. But today, a different gentleman was cooking and my 3 fish tacos that normally take some time to make, were packed up and given to me in just a couple of minutes. When I came home to eat them they were Sub-par quality. Totally over-fried to the point of the outside being dark brown and almost black and the fish on the inside were dried up and there was almost just a hollow space. I am sorry, but I think you lost me as a future customer.

The food is very delicious and the portions are good. They have everything you need for a good hangover fix.

4.5/5. Food truck with covered outdoor seating. Super fair prices, quick service. The yummiest jalapeño crema ever. Chicharrón de pescado tacos were FIRE, overstuffed, popcorn fried, bursting with flavor. The cook on the grilled fish tacos was also great. We're visiting and drove ~30 minutes to try this spot-- it was well worth the adventure.

I have been here many times in the past and they were definitely a 5 star. However this recent time was not the best. Two of us got sick and the taste was not fresh. I reached out to them with no response.

I was in the mood for seafood so I stopped by this popular food truck. We ordered the shrimp tostada, shrimp Diablo, and shrimp ceviche. The tostada and shrimp dialbo were amazing. The ceviche wasn't our fave since it had a lot of chamoy all over it which was not expected. The dish also didn't have a lot of shrimp compared to the others. I would recommend trying this food truck.

El Prieto taste like it drove across the border to sell authentic and fresh seafood. I recommend this location as a Taco Tuesday spot! Their birria and fish tacos are worth the wait and trip. El Prieto was also a unanimous recommendation by locals for their 7 Seas Soup- what ever ailment I had disappeared with this hearty, flavorful, and nutritious dish!

This truck changed hands and the food became noticably less good and the prices significantly higher on the fish tacos. It is still a decent eating stop - and when I say "decent" thatis fairly high praise. Worth the price and good food.

We've been coming to El Velador for over a year, and I believe they recently changed ownership to El Prieto. Sadly, it's not the same. Not only did they increase their prices, but the quality is disappointing. It's only been a week or two since we last went, and we noticed the difference right away. They forgot to add limes, we had to ask for saladitas, and the cebollitas (escabeche) is awful. Lastly, they no longer serve Agua Fresca. I'm really disappointed, and don't think I'll be coming back.

Saw this place via sponsored Instagram post... with a coupon (that wasn't valid when we got there :/ ), didn't know what to think... but I looked on Yelp, and my fellow Yelpers, you did not lie.I always say that restaurants that aren't fancy always have the best food... and this is part of that rule! Just a little hot when you're eating outside right now!I had the aguachile verde, and it was pretty perfect. I usually have it other places and it comes out a little to spicy with not enough lime juice... but this place got it exactly right! And I do love like so I appreciate that they gave extra lime, but it was actually unnecessary.Partner got fish taco and taco plate... all amazing. The meat was cooked very well with complementary flavors/salsas!I'll definitely be coming back to try other dishes!

I tried the tosticeviche and it was so worth it! The portion was pretty big and the flavor was good - not too sour and loved the red onions! Plenty of parking and they do charge a card fee is you're using card.

This food truck has the BEST fish tacos ever!!! It has set the bar for me because now whenever I have other fish tacos, I get disappointed because its not as good as El Valedor's. Definitely order the fish tacos! They are crispy fried fresh and are super hot when you get them. The sauces are a perfect creamy compliment, and they improve with lime and creamy chipotle sauce or any other hot sauce they have on the side. I always get full off of 3 tacos. I also love the seafood consume they give you for free (beware its SUPER hot when they give it to you, but its a perfect starter and I love that they give it to you for free!!!) I have also tried their shrimp, scallop, and octopus (special) ceviche: it is tart and sweet, and the seafood is fresh. I also get their agua frescas whenever they have it because its so yummy and sweet! This taco truck is in a small plaza on University Avenue. Has a few tables for seating, they always have customers come but I've never had a problem getting a seat. Definitely check out this hidden gem!
