This is by far the absolute best Mexican restaurant north of the border. Their exclusive ingredients are the real deal and the cuisine is just phenomenal. I'm so sad to learn it is closing down. I would drive 2 hours from LA just to enjoy Galaxy's delicious dishes. I hope it re-opens successfully

food was poor, service was weird, should have known walking in there are there was only 1 person in there eating in this huge restaurant, it was about 4pm prime time for happy hour too. They didn't have any specials, got carnitas tacos and I got a carnitas bowl, both underwelming, flavorless and just boring.

I recently visited Galaxy Cantina and ordered the Mushroom Taco and Horchata Down Under. The flavors of both were delicioso. I wish I could have taken home a jar of their Spicy Tomato Sauce as it would be perfect for cooking at home.

Cool place to eat tacos Heads up, it is more expensive and interesting than regular “hole in the wall “ places, in my opinion worth it but each one decides for himself...Good Margaritas as wellWe had fish and meat tacos that were very good. Savichi is excellent! Have the chorus for desert.

Good food, good service, nice atmosphere and a unique take on authentic Mexican food, yummy handmade tortillas from blue corn masa. Liked the enchilada fries very much.

Fun Fact: if they ask if they can bring you chips & salsa , just be aware there is a $4 charge - I'm not a fan of writing 1 & 2 star reviews because I know it can appear biased / really hurt a business. However, I have to call it like I see it. I don't frequent many 2-3 star restaurants but was hoping I was wrong. To sum it up , it's a Mexican joint with a large number of young waitstaff. Nothing wrong with that, I served and was in the restaurant industry for well over ten years. With that said, it feels very ordinary - nothing special about the food or service. Here are my gripes: 1) they asked if I wanted chips and salsa while I wait for my friend, I said sure as I peered around the tables and everyone had chips and salsa on their table ( I shouldn't have assumed but I thought they were complimentary. )Well, they weren't. There was a $4 charge for the salsa. I'm pretty sure 99 percent of the Mexican places here in San Diego do not charge for this, so if you are going to charge for it - please be upfront about this if you are going to offer it before menus come out. 2) my three tacos fell completely apart. When I order tacos, I'd prefer to eat the meat and filling with a tortilla. Unfortunately all 3 of them ( chicken , steak , mushroom ) fell apart once I picked them up within seconds. 3) Server never once came around to ask how we were doing. When I flagged down the server and let her know & asked for water refill , she responded and said "oh that doesn't happen , they must have added more water to the recipe this time." She then left and I thought maybe she was getting a manager , a menu , my water. But she instead came back with the bill. Do I think it was Ill-intentioned ? No , I think she thought I was done but that's pretty poor service. It would have been nice to either 1) let me know she will talk to chef to see if they can fix the recipe ASAP and thank you 2) ask me if I'd like something diff on the menu and / or 3) not charge me or discount the tacos. I hate not leaving a tip - but after having to ask for my water twice , not getting offered any credit / other food item , and the lack of sympathy - I decided to just pay for my meal and leave. I did voice this with the front hostess staff and they seemed unsure what to do but said they would let the manager know. In the end I paid $23 for 3 non tacos :( This place has a lot of potential ( the meat was actually cooked well and flavored nice, the area is nice ) but the lack of service and lack of unique appeal was below standard.

Had such a great experience here! We ordered the chefs special of the day which was the Barbacoa lamb and absolutely loved it. I would also recommend ordering the tlayuda de ajillo, it was so good paired with the maiz tortilla. The Enchilada fries were a great starter and had plenty to share. The place has a great lively atmosphere as well, whether you are at the bar or dining in. Will definitely return.

Awesome food! We had ceviche for a starter and it was delicious. Both my wife and I had tacos which were great! The grilled fish and fried fish tacos were the highlight. We finished it all off with some delicious churros. Only reason for the 4 star review was because I felt it was a little pricey.

Love this place just off the beach! Cool bar with great cocktails (margarita was perfect), cool selection of spirits, and skilled bartenders. And the food. My friends, you must try the tacos. I ordered the vegetarian friendly mushroom tacos (I’m an omnivore but I’ve had these before and had to get them again), plus chips and salsa. Everything was amazing! The tacos, made with tortillas they cook from scratch with blue corn ground in house, were umami rich and savory, yet bright with fresh salsa and herbs. And speaking of salsa, I tried three and all were superb. This place would be worth seeking out all on its own, even if it weren’t a stone’s throw away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the country! Highly recommended.

Galaxy tacos is a cute spot in La Jolla complete with an adorable patio and charming decor. The waitstaff is prompt and polite, and our server brought our food quickly and kept our waters filled. However, the standard for tacos in San Diego is high, and unfortunately Galaxy Cantina just falls a little short in my book. The food was regular--not very flavorful or memorable. I would be open to eating here again, but not a place I crave.

Steps from the beach Galaxy Tacos has the best Mexican in La Jolla Shores! Great atmosphere, amazing food and great drinks! Definitely a must when hanging out on the Pacific in La Jolla Shores!!

Pretty nice place to grab some tacos. The flavors were okay, house made tortillas were delicious, Horchata was some of the best I've had in a while! Kids menu was also decent and well sized for the price.

Great first time experience. The shrimp quesadilla was a first time try and very tasty. The service was quick, the food was served warm. Our waiter provided good customer service checking on our table and providing drink refill by observance.
