We were very excited to try a new Sushi place in North County. On the positive side the service and atmosphere was excellent. The place is very small so probably why you need a reservation. That was no problem. From the moment our food was delivered we noticed the very small portions. Everything from the wasabi ( smallest amount ever) to the edamame then the very small rolls. The flavors on the food were good ( not great) but we left hungry which we never do after 3 rolls, edamame and a drink each for 2 l. We truly had high hopes and perhaps this place will turn things around.

My husband and I decided to try this place on a whim since we were in the area. While it is a little on the pricey side, the food is completely worth it. They have the best spicy tuna I have ever had. It wasn't about nuking your taste buds, but a pleasant warmth that enhanced the taste of the tuna. Definitely order the Luna Lemon! We will have to come back because we saw the table next to us order some takoyaki and it looked amazing. I do recommend making reservations for weekend dinner, it was busy there!

Lucked out stopping by after work on Friday as we didn't have a reservation . We showed up right when they opened and when we walked in, only one other table was occupied. But the dining room filled up quickly. We ordered our food and got it promptly. I got the chefs choice premium nigiri. Decent price and super fresh fish! I also got the hamachi hiro roll. I like that it has the blueberry vinaigrette on top, it's different and tastes really refreshing as it's not drenched in eel sauce like other rolls. The other rolls were my husbands, but he was satisfied and wants to return. We had a chance to the owner and he asked us how everything was and he said everything they serve is fresh and once they run out, that's it for the night. That's great knowing all ingredients are super fresh. And great that he took the time to come over and say hello.

I've been to this spot several times and it has not disappointed. My go to appetizer is the house salad. The blueberry vinaigrette is so unique and delicious with a hint of zest. The rolls I've tried thus far are fresh. The Kama-Hama Hamachi was tender and moist. As soon as I enter the restaurant I am greeted and seated promptly. The servers are attentive and the wait time is minimal. The place is on the smaller scale and can get full quickly during peak lunch and dinner times. There's a sushi bar and about 6-7 tables. That being the case, I've never had to wait the times I've dined in. 10/10 would go again.

NOT COMING BACK. Was here and we were told that they not accepting reservations. When I arrived, I was told we cannot get seated because the seats were reserved. Receptionist gave me A DIRTY LOOK AND ATTITUDE. We ordered 4 rolls and they made mistakes. In addition, I asked for a REPLACEMENT of tuna from spicy to non-spicy and I got billed for $5 without letting me know. Awesome courtesy--not! Service can be improved. Ditch that ATTITUDE! It's going to throw off customers. Ambiance is okay but as soon as you step out the reeking smell of dog poop screaming at you!!!!

Yes, finally a great sushi spot in "northern SD." We ordered so many items that I won't list them all but everything was so fresh and tasty. Some highlights: amberjack (so buttery), yellowtail, belly sampler, hamachi carpacchio, and the ASAHI on tap was A+. We will definitely be back to try more items!

We had a craving for chirashi bowls, and the many great Japanese restaurants that serve this dish seem to be few and far between. We found Hakumaru on Yelp, and wow! We were pleasantly delighted and surprised. This place is it! The sushi chefs and wait staff were pleasant and just all-around cool. Great ambiance of nice wood, slatted walls, and hip low-fi music playing in the background. The restaurant was completely full by 6pm on a MONDAY. I believe they just had their soft opening a few weeks ago, and I so wish some of these lower-rated reviews would keep that in mind. Love you fellow Yelpers! Muah! We were delighted by the freshness of the fish. Yes, a bit thinner than other places but oh the quality was so good! I would rather have a thinner, more flavorful piece of sashimi rather than just a big portion - we love fresh fish! You could just sit and enjoy at the sushi bar while watching the chefs take great care in their craft. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this place. Everything from the high quality of the fish to the better quality of wasabi and ginger just gave everything that little bit extra. Loved it all! Recommend making a reservation because I can only see this place getting more popular.

We were intrigued by the stellar reviews for this new sushi spot, and wow, it did not disappoint! Staff is so attentive and offered spot-on recommendations. Hamachi Hiro with blueberry vinaigrette drizzle on top was so unexpected and delicious! Luna Lemon roll deserves the hype it's getting as their most popular roll. Also ordered the sashimi bepop sampler with chef's choice fish and it was perfect! Presentation and attention to detail with every dish we ordered. Highly recommend!
