The coffee is really good, there's no doubt about that! the service is NOT. I don't understand why everyone is so moody. I have been here over a dozen times and I can honestly say it's like pulling teeth to get the baristas to act like they give a care about you as a person and it really sucks!!

Atmosphere was good at 7 am with busy workers and chill tunes playing in the background. This place is NOT dog friendly (no problem) so I waited outside with the dogs while my wife went in to order. We got a cold brew and a honey cinnamon latte, both very good drinks to start our day. Parking was off street and easy to find free parking nearby but I’m sure it gets busier as the day goes on since this is such a close location to balboa park. They also have some breakfast bakery items which we’ll have to try next time we’re backWheelchair accessibility: Single floor with ramps on the street nearby

Dunno about 4.7, all 3 drinks had a burnt taste from over temp.

Worthless garbage. You'd have better tasting coffee at a boarded up roadside gas station. You'd get better service there too. The staff is rude and snooty. They very much look down their collective noses at "special" requests like milk or sweetener. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Went to James Coffee on my last visit to San Diego - what a gem! The service was welcoming, warm, and friendly. This location is small. Basically standing-room only. There's outdoor seating available, but it's limited. So, I really see this as a grab and go spot. I lucked out and snagged an outdoor seat where I could enjoy my breakfast - an almond croissant paired with a cappuccino. It was a lovely start to my Sunday morning. I will be back next time I'm in town!

Small, quaint, coffee place had a very good cup of coffee. I was new to the area and was pleasantly happy to try this place out.

it was very loud inside the girls who were standing. The coffee machines were shouting very loudly among themselves. So loudly that it was blocking my ears, as if on purpose I asked about the origin of the coffee, to which I did not receive a clear answer, and when the guy asked the girl, she grimaced and muttered something under her breath nose, I think when they brought me coffee it was very bitter and sour, I also asked to add sugar, no one did it, I ordered a cortado, it was brought without milk. The croissant was very tasty, please pay attention to the worker in red, she is very unfriendly and unpleasant

I come here almost every day. Today I come in 10m before closing. The girl who was closing, I always have issues with when she working.. IDK here name but she has brown medium hair and pale skin, super upbeat girl.she started in the new year. I love all the staff but her. Every time I see her I just want walk out because she talks to much. There’s times where she be talking to the customer for 10 minutes straight and behind me there’s a whole line started. She didn’t even know what a cold brew was and hot americano was when she first started and constantly got my order on. On top of her lack of urgency and messy ups. Today was my last straw. I walked in 10m before closing. I asked if they were close and she said no and she said do you wanna ice Americano and I said no I actually wanna ice Matcha she rolled her eyes and threw back head down. I am sorry!? What! Horrible experience, I always leave above 20% tip, so not make my drink and get extra tip? Her attitude was uncalled for.. I have her look she quickly said oh it’s fine. Actually I don’t mind making it and I looked at her and I said no it’s OK you’re closing and obviously that’s important. I don’t want make you upset. I left. I love all the james coffee crew but her.

The coffee is one of if not these best tasting coffee in San Diego. The customer service however, is often rude and inattentive of their customers.Edited: customer service has improved and they are very polite and attentive. Great coffee and one of my fave spots.

Ordered a plain iced Americano which I found a tad too acidic... But still good. Plain croissant was good, right amount of crispy and fluffy. Friendly and welcoming service. Was leaning towards 5 stars until I tried sitting.... Who is responsible for the design of this location?!!! All metal seats. So cold (in the middle of August). Thankfully I had a notebook I could sit on.... Bit of a bummer. Remember, overall experience is important too.
