Great pre-theater spot, we enjoy their wines and irish coffees. Last time we went we ordered the chicken melt, over toasted the bread to a pooint it was burnt. We should have returned but we endured. Hopefully a one time thing.

Only had hot apple cider, as we weren't hungry. However, it was tasty, and the food selections looked

A great place to get a drink or a snack before the theater. it's a bit expensive but that's what you should expect at Balboa Park. We arrived 45 minutes before the start of the play last Saturday and were delighted to discover they had created a heated patio where you could sip your drink.

We went to the 10:30 a.m. performance of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which let out right at noon. We were hungry, the lines were manageable, and the menu was reasonably priced, so we opted to eat here rather than drink to a restaurant in Bankers Hill (and inevitably have to wait).I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, and service was fairly quick. You order and they heat up/ grab your food, kind of like a cafeteria. There's plenty of outdoor seating and many with shade. I got the Italian Panini and a cold brew, which were both good - better than I was expecting. The panini was fully cooked and toasted. Didn't snap a photo of the food because I was too hungry! Honestly, I'd happily eat here again... I just wish it was colder so I could have had hot chocolate! I can't speak to the reviews that discuss unreliable hours. It was open when I needed it. My best guess is that its hours are most reliable around performance showtimes.

Not reliable - They don't open at stated hours - Their website states they open at noon- but they don't No hours are posted anywhere On top of that they sometimes open late and they don't respond well to customers Poor customer service overall -

2 inch long COCKROACHES were crawling on the tables and benches! The food (Sandwiches) were horrible and stale, like gas station food. My wife threw her sandwich in the trash, it was that bad. We didn't notice the cockroaches until we came out for our prepaid coffee and dessert during intermission and fewer people were in the area. Made us immediately regret eating and drinking anything from this establishment.

The main attraction here is its proximity to the playhouses. The food is good, and the service is fast, so you can eat and still make the curtain time. There is no table service; you order at the counter, and your pager goes off when you can pick it up. The seating is outdoors with umbrellas over the tables. It's a pretty spot, as you can see the California Tower and Dome, the theaters and trees.

Thankful the Old Globe has this little pub available for food and snacks. Upon arriving there was a line but it moved pretty quickly, we planned accordingly to have time for pre show drinks. There's a nice courtyard that features some of Balboa's iconic architecture with a ton of seating. During intermission there was hardly a line and they moved very efficiently, made it back to my seat with plenty of time.

The online menu is outdated, there are no hot pretzels ? rating based on the hot chocolate which was hot and chocolatey meeting basic expectations.
