Sharing this review with the context I’ve experienced Lucha Libre at its peak, which was arguably during the very early 2010s. After having visited in the last week, I’m sad to say it’s gone extremely downhill — with regard to flavor, food quantity, and the price point. Granted, the salsa bar is still absolutely fire, but that isn’t what carries a business.Lucha Libre relied on the momentum it got from being featured in an episode of Man vs Food in September 2010. That propelled it to be a go-to spot for absolutely decadent, over-the-top stuffed burritos, most notably being the variety of California Burritos. I have a pretty clear memory of them being the size of a small newborn, when I’d regularly come by in the few years following that. What I got now is an absolute shadow of its former self. I ordered a classic California Burrito, and there were a number of things wrong, all stemming from the source pain point of a collapsing economy.1. Pricepoint/recipe strategy: the Classic Cali lists fries, cheese, sour cream, and pico as the ingredients. Where’s the guac? That is a STAPLE in a Cali burrito. Of course we can pay extra to add… but you shouldn’t have to “add” an ingredient that should’ve already been included. Nothing “classic” about that. Additionally, there are two prices listed— one with just the ingredients above listed, and another with the cost per protein as an add-on. Without meaning to offend any vegans/vegetarians, who orders a Classic Cali burrito without any protein? So anyway… after adding the Carne Asada, we’re up to a $17 burrito. Now, for the additional reasons why it makes the price point even more frustrating…2. Execution/flavor/quantity: the carne asada was overcooked and oversalted, the fries were lukewarm, lifeless, and limp, and the arrangement of the ingredients was so lop-sided, that one has to eat the burrito borderline horizontally in order to avoid eating a ratio of 3:1 tortilla:filling.Very disappointed. I can’t help but feel like this experience isn’t just saddening in the fact that I didn’t enjoy the food, but it is opening my eyes to the apparent cost impact on small/medium businesses. With the rising minimum wage, which is of course a GOOD thing at its core— we do want people to make livable wages… it’s that we’re economically in a weird spot where businesses haven’t figured out how to scale their product down to afford to pay their overhead whilst not compromising on quality of output.PS. Like I said, despite my grievances, they still have one of the best salsa bars. Green sauce is legit and they’re one of the only places that has a good quasi-pesto crema sauce.

GOOOO! Oh my gawd! The food was so good. The tacos are bigger than your usual traditional tacos. A nice portion. They are sold singles. Which I did not mind I like to pick and choose. I ordered the pollito porky and surf&turf taco. My friend had the surf&turf burrito. Everyone who came in kept order this burrito. I also had the TJ corn which is basically elote off the Cobb. Atmosphere was amazing and decor is cute. Great theme and paying homage. Wrestler lovers obvi would like this. Go and see for yourself. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Also they have a salsa bar!! hello?! What more is there to ask for? GO!

We ordered the vegan birria burrito and it was incredible! We also got the salsa roja and creamy cilantro salsa which were also both great. This is definitely the best taco shop I've tried in San Diego so far and it will be my go-to from now on.

My family and I visited Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop for lunch. There was no line which was perfect because we were starving! We had the surfing burrito, the 4 tacos with chicken and one surfing burrito without meat. They have a sauce bar to get as much sauce as you want! I loved the white sauce. I put in on top of my burrito and also with chips. Service was fast, great drinks, food was delicious and the place was pretty cool with a wrestling theme. I would definitely recommend it. Whether you're in the mood for a burrito, tacos, or something else, you're sure to find something you love at Lucha Libre. The fries were not fresh, the meat was not good quality, the guacamole was okay but barely any, small amount of sour cream. I was hyped about this place after hearing about it, but I guess it’s a tourist trap. Drove 43 minutes to try it. The burritos and tacos we got were okay, but definitely not worth going out of your way for. I spent $62 and I feel like it was a complete loss. Great customer service and decor but bad food.

Service was meh at the counter (should have left but people have stuff going on in their lives so...). Food was just...no! If you have had (and enjoy) real Mexican food this is not for you. The salsas were the best part but they were also meh. I personally and honestly would next time rather get Jack n' the Box tacos, they may not be Mexican style tacos but they're tastier (and less expensive) than this. The Agua de Mango and the Horchata didn't taste like what they're supposed to taste like (I have had many different styles of Horchata from different regions and I don't think the mango had ANY mango or mango flavor in it...real or artificial). I was disappointed especially because of all the good reviews, I was really looking forward to some good food and if you are too, I'd recommend trying someplace else. Or give this a try to see if it's for you...but may just order one taco for everyone to try before ordering a whole meal....my sister agrees with all of this. Also, the tortillas were cold. When we had a question (to help us determine the difference between tacos that were supposed to be different but looked the same they seemed annoyed) and when we told them that they were out of the self serve onions she said "oh" so my sister asked if they were going to put more out, she said "no, if there's none then we're out for the day", it was just past 3pm and we just saw that they close at 10!Vegetarian options: They had some but I didn't them.

I'm sorry but the food at this place was not as good as advertised, the food was not authentic Mexican food , it was super Americanized Mexican food , the birria tasted like it was a pouched birria, sorry was not to fond of this place.
