It's like health ice cream for breakfast and the portions for the prices are amazing!! Sometimes the wait is long due to Uber/door dash/etc...

I stumbled across this place while having an acai bowl craving and saw this place pop up! I'd say this place is my 2nd fav place after blue bowl. Very similar concept and they even have some unique bases such as matcha and ube! The toppings are more generic but they had the options you would normally find like 2-3 fruit options, different granolas, nut butters, various seeds/goji berries. Parking is on the street as its located in the main street in Hillcrest. Definitely walkable though!

Best acai bowl ive ever had. I absolutely love that you can create your own bowl here. They had so many base choices that you could choose from as well as a large variety of fruits, granola and toppings.I created my own bowl with the bases: matcha, acai, chia pudding, and mango.Fruits: pineapple, strawberry, blueberriesToppings: matcha powder and honey.Everything was so sweet and the flavors all melded together so perfectly. Would come again!

This place is good when they get your order right. This is the third time I’ve gotten an order wrong when ordering delivery. Some people have allergies and food sensitivities. Be mindful of that. Your lack of competence is inconvenient.

Got the 1904 bowl, great taste but everytime I've gone they're out of something.

The smoothies and bowls are good but every time I’ve tried to go and grab a smoothie on my way to work (between 8 and 8:30) they’ve been closed even though their hours say they open at 8. Frustrating ☹️

This place is dangerously good, I went here 3 days in a row a few weeks ago. I love that they now have an ube flavor - the ube and coconut bases combined together is an absolute treat. It makes me feel somewhat healthier about myself every time I eat this because it is loaded with fresh fruits and good nuts. There are so many options to customize your own bowls and plenty of smoothie options as well. Definitely give it a try, but be warned, it may become a "healthy" addiction.

I loved my açaí bowl ! I think it's one of the best I've had , didn't get so lucky with trying their juice since their machine was down. I also had their veggie sandwich and it was quite filling! Can't wait to come back and try other things off the menu :)

EXCELLENT açaí bowls here! (So much more than açaí as the base! They’ve got sorbet bases with coconut, ube, matcha, açaí, and chia pudding.)The bowls are a little pricey but WOW what an ingredient list! Multiple options for granola. Tons of fruits. Toppings you can’t find in a lot of other “bowl” places: goji berries, cocoa nibs, matcha powder, etc.Love their selection. My ONLY complaint is their firm stance on dogs. The other places around them allow dogs on the patios, but there’s no way at Roots to place your order or go inside to get it when it’s ready if you have a dog with you. It’s totally fine to not allow dogs, but AT LEAST please open the drive-up window that’s already there to take walk-up orders for people with dogs. You’re in the center of one of the most walkable neighborhoods in San Diego and a LOT of people take their dogs. Again, doesn’t have to be inside or even allow them in the door, but use the window you already have to service those customers because as it is, I often have to walk next door to Liv Juices where dogs are welcomed. One star off for that reason.

Don't come here if you want to want to avoid an Acai Bowl addiction. You've been warned. The bowls here are consistently well made and filled to the brim with ingredients. Til the very end, each bite can be combined with the ample acai and fruits. At other places I often have the acai turn into a watery smoothie and have never had that issue here. Great spot for people watching or grabbing a refreshing cool treat!

Had a solid açaí bowl and also tried a smoothie. Though I have no complaints about the food - One downside is there was a cockroach on the floor inside as we were ordering. Parking was relatively easy to find.
