Absolutely beautiful setting and atmosphere, lots of floral designs and a really cute bakery! Loved the food, and the unicorn hot chocolate was so cute. The staff was so helpful and quick to bring out our food even tho they were so busy.

For my fellow vegetarians, the mushroom toast was insane! So creative and full of flavor. Do not pass up the vanilla latte, it was perfection!

Went on a Tuesday around 12noon and it was moderately busy. So I know a weekend would be poppin. We still got a table right away. Servers/hosts and our waitress were all friendly. Food is definitely post worthy with all the colors and glitter. For mimosas, just order the flight, try em all! The pancakes were good but personally, the gobs of jam & blueberries & cream in top was slightly overwhelming. Still very good dont get me wrong, but if you enjoy a classic hot fluffy pancake, order one w less on top. I ordered at random since I was with a friend I had not seen in years and we kept yapping. My gf suggested this place, and has been here twice. Will definitely be coming back.

GREAT spot for brunch. The blueberry pancakes, though they look like it would be overly sweet, were perfectly delicious without tasting like pure sugar. Honestly, the pancakes are perfect! The service is great, the food came out super quick! Typically they are busy during the usual weekend brunch hours, but if you get there before 10am, you'll get in just fine.

A super cute and pretty breakfast/brunch place in La Jolla! Love all the flower decorations & the ambiance is really giving here. We started with the Blue Moon Latte, which was like a coconut flavored espresso. It was surprisingly really good, and I say surprisingly because I normally don't really like coconut flavored things. But this latte was so smooth and creamy and had the perfect balance of sweetness. For food items, we tried the Honeyed Berry Toast and Butter Poached Lobster Benedict. The honeyed berry toast had goat cheese as the base, which I didn't like (I'm not a fan of cheese). The Lobster Benedict was really yummy though -- everything tasted really fresh. It's the best benedict I've ever had though I'm still just getting into runny eggs. I especially liked the potatoes that it came with on the side. You must try the potatoes when you come here! The servers were also super nice and welcoming!

The food here was amazing! Went here for a girls brunch. It's located in La Jolla so it's in a very beautiful area near the beach! I got the Cali Benedict and the Smother and Covered Skillet. Both were delicious! Usually I don't like brunch foods but these were great. I really enjoyed the skillet as it was creamy, the eggs were soft and fluffy, and the potatoes were great with the sauce. The service was great, super quick and friendly as well.

On my way back to LA my friend and I decided to stop at Sugar and Scribe for brunch. There's usually a wait here, but it's worth it. When you get on the waiting list they will text you when it's almost your turn so you can browse the shops around the neighborhood or check out the little bakery area of the restaurant. The restaurant/bakery has such a cute vibe, and the baked goods are like little works of art! Each pastry was so beautifully decorated and unique, that it felt like browsing a museum exhibit - I wanted to buy everything in there. I ended up ordering the Healthy Skillet & strawberry lemonade which was so good. The strawberry lemonade also had free refills. I wanted to buy all the things in their bakery/ gift shop area. There was a whole section of strawberry-themed gifts and snacks which I ended up buying a few things from. I would highly recommend giving this place a try if you are in the area.

If you're in La Jolla during the week and looking for a solid brunch spot to try out, Sugar and Scribe would be one of my suggestions. Located by La Jolla coves, Sugar and Scribe opened in 2014 and has won a number of accolades including best bakery for 4 years and best new restaurant in 2015. The original Pacific Beach location opened in 2010 and expanded here. This corner location has cute cottage outdoor patio. Everything had a sense of style and elegance from gold color rimmed mugs, aluminum cups, silverware, and plates. Menu: They have everything from pancakes, waffles, toast, eggs benedicts, salads, skillets, and sandwiches. The Wild Mushroom Brunch Toast (4.5/5) was delicious and the truffle oil was not overpowering. The oyster mushrooms and cremini mushrooms were perfectly cooked. The egg yolk was runny and the goat cheese was a great combination. I wished there was a bit more texture from silvered almonds or something. Social Salad (4/5) The lemon vinaigrette was spot on. There were hearty chunks of artichokes and different vegetables from capers, cucumbers, sundried tomatoes, olives, and arugula. While this was a hearty salad, it was definitely missing more texture like croutons or something. Service: It wasn't that crowded during the week so we had great service from multiple employees. We were checked on frequently and received our check within reasonable time.

My family and I went for brunch this morning and had a wonderful experience! For 4 of us we were told an hour wait but it ended up being only about 30 minutes! Our server, Oscar, was so sweet and attentive. Our food came so quick and was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back!

We go to brunch one a week in the village and always like to take our visitors to brunch and this restaurant is one in the rotation. For the price point the food is hit or miss. Compared to other brunch spots in the area price point is similar but quality just isn't there across the board. Blueberry pancakes 4/5 stars Corn beef hash 2/5 Shakshouka 3.5/5 Chilaquiles 3.5/5 Traditional Eggs Benedict 4/5 Side Potatoes 5/5 Latte-4/5 Matcha-4/5 I think they could make an exception to the rule on all ordering at the same time when we have a child. They wouldn't accept a children's pancake order when we ordered drinks until the entire party has put in food. Understandable policy but something to think about with children. What made this a 3 and not 4 star is the following. Understandably they are busy but they had a busser come over while we were still eating to clear plates. We were extremely rushed and pushed out. We were going to put in more food but they dropped the check and walked away. Then when most of our party finishes their food they came and took our water cups and reaching over us while they did it. We waited a little over an hour to eat here so to get rushed like that was extremely uncomfortable and we will take this out of our weekly brunch rotation.

I've been to Sugar and Scribe lots of times-- it's a classic for both the ambiance and the food (which is delicious)! But the one thing that bothers me about it is that there is a consistent pattern of servers kind of hassling you out the door. If you are there for the span of an hour they will approach 3-4 times to make sure you get the message. I understand that they're very busy and in high demand. Today a server kicked my party out of the restaurant after we'd had our food for about an hour (after repeatedly asking to take our plates that we were still clearly eating from). I completely empathize with needing to accommodate the large crowd that was piling up at the hostess stand, but this felt pretty uncool.

Huge props to the staff at Sugar and Scribe for their excellent service! My party of 5 came at 9am on the Saturday of Easter Weekend in the middle of torrential rain. It was cold, wet, loud and crowded. But the staff had amazing hussle and great attitudes despite the challenges, from the woman who managed the seating to the man who bussed our table, and everyone in between. They did their best to keep everyone comfortable, warm, and seated. Once seated, they kept our coffee topped off, graciously answered our questions and needs, and were attentive. The food was delicious, of course. But the staff were . Keep up the good work!
