This was our fav bar in OB, but then a pretty boy bartender tried to kick my girlfriend out for being passionate about football. ? How UN- American and ridiculous.

I've been going here for a bit with family friends but yesterday was the last straw . This was the second time they gave us problems here . One from kicking us off a table was empty for a while then once we sat there a guy came and told us he needed the table to connect the fan because he was hot and I told him we were sitting there and he said I'm sorry I need the fan and took our table from us. Then we went to an other table and sat there then A friend of ours went to take a step outside to smoke a cigarette and when he try coming back in they told him was stumbling and couldn't come in Which was totally bullshit because we had just got there ! With only one drink in the damn door guy checking our IDs was more lit then anyone coming in that place . But anyways after we notice him missing my brother went to check on him and he told us they kicked him out and then when my brother try to come back in they didn't let him in with no reason not to . Just straight up bs I felt so uncomfortable like they didn't want us there ! Sorry to say but sunshine company has become racist. I will no longer be coming this place .

Sunshine Company is an OB mainstay and I'm happy it continues to thrive. The design allows smoke to permeate every nook and cranny as it definitely favors the smoking crowd. The female bartenders always make it seem like I'm wasting their time by ordering drinks... Which is sadly becoming the standard in OB.

Been here 100 times over 40 years and still my favorite spot to play the jukebox; get a Patron Silver Margarita Rocks No Salt; stare at the wildlife walking up and down Newport Avenue; look at the ocean, the game, and skillful pool players; and, generally, chill and enjoy life in OB.

Even if the service varies. I still stop here for a cocktail every time I go to OB. It's a vibe. I didn't eat so I didn't rate the food.

This place was so fun! We went on a. Saturday day night around 9:30 and there was a line out the door. We did not have to wait to long and there was no cover. The drinks were surprisingly low and the bartender was very nice. The place was packed and we had a lot of fun!

I loved this place and go often but my friends and I stopped by for our first drink for my friend's bachelorette party and had a great time then left to another bar and came back and they refused to serve us. The bartender informed us that the manger said not to serve the ladies in the pink hats (us) if we came back. We were nothing but polite and were so excited to come back. It ruined our night. We have been coming here as a group since we turned 21. This is a frequent beloved hangout spot where we have celebrated a lot of monumental life milestones. Note that not a single person in our group was overly intoxicated by any means. We were just there for a good time!

I don't even know where to start. I've been looking for a good time in OB and I've more than found it. Not only was Bria an AMAZING bartender. She made my drink to perfection and treated me like royalty. I have to recommend playing a game of pool and drinking there Tequila Redbull combo. Absolutely marvelous. Thank you Bria for EVERYTHING!!! Highly recommend Sunshine to anyone in OB!

First time going there, got one drink, a Mexican mule, got it in a small glass asked how much it was before I purchased it was told 8 dollars got my charge was 10.87 cents thought whatever. Checked my bank account and it jumped to 18.87 cents????? For an 8oz drink? Inflation. Robbed.

A guy I was seeing during the end of Summer wanted me to meet him here since he was working in the area. Parking was a pain in the ass but I eventually got in without a problem and only stood long enough to watch him play a round of pool while I threw back two vodka sodas. In the 45 minutes I was there, here's how my experience went: - My bartender was a female and the interaction was respectfully transactional, check. - My drinks were poured to standard and were decently cheap, another check. - I stood on the bottom floor beneath the open air portion of the building where I could feel the sun. Everything appeared clean in this area. No trash strewn around or anything out of place, check. From what the bar had to offer, I have no complaints. My consensus on this area is that you need to look and act like you sleep at the beach in order to comfortably blend in. If you shampoo your hair, smell fresh, or enter wearing branded clothes afforded by the middle class and higher... you're probably going to attract negative attention unless you look like Guile from Street Fighter or someone who can annihilate an army of Shaggys from Scooby Doo. Thankfully I looked innocuous with my faded black hoodie and avoidant gaze otherwise most debutantes get harassed, insulted, or mocked here from what I've witnessed. I did attract a few creepy stares but once it was obvious that I wasn't here unmanned, I was in a protective halo. This phenomenon isn't necessarily a reflection of the staff at this bar but more so of the demographic of its locals. Even though nothing happened, it's the perception and the vibe that really started to make me uncomfortable. In my experience with dive bars, there are those that have that warm glow of a boozy hobbit hole where random walk-ins are welcome to fist bump with newly made comrades. On the other hand, some accidentally tread upon the "locals only" dens not knowing that it's patrolled by a clandestine bunch of hooligans willing to tweak their definition of vigilance. This is one of those bars.
