The afternoon tea is such a great girl time experience! I highly recommend getting into your best outfits and meeting for tea on a weekend. The best ulta femme way to have a great time in a gorgeous building. It's such a vibe in there and the harpist just adds to the amazing experience.

My favorite happy hour!!! The food, drinks the elegance! everything is absolutely exquisite! They have the best bartender in San Diego, every drink this man makes is outstanding especially the cosmopolitans! And the prices are affordable. Thank you! I will recommend to everyone I knowI just came on 3/14/24 again for happy hour and I wanted to give praise to Moneyshh, being his first week as the bar tender and server, this gentleman made us feel so welcome and was so attentive. We noticed something was different on our charcuterie board and with no questions he spoke with the chef and fixed it. The customer service is wonderful thank you!

Two words that describe the West Gate: elegance & historical. I was mesmerized with the historical significance of the hotel and delighted to discover that this is privately owned. I was invited to enjoy the harp performance that accompanied tea-time in the lobby area. Kiara, the harpist, was mesmerizing. One of these days, I'd love to stay here and really doll up for a night out on the town. Thank you to the staff for this ambiance. It's a rare gem.

A review for their high afternoon tea service. Came here last Saturday and was blown away. Live harp player created a soft and elegant ambiance; perfect for tea time! Tea selection is brought out for you to smell before you make your choice. I wish all tea places did that before you commit to that drink for an hour! Food was lovely and filling. I liked the pesto sandwich bite and the scone with clotted cream the best. Scone was to die for! Decor is exactly what I hoped it would be. You feel so fancy, but $55pp price is right in line with less fancy places in SD.

Disappointing experience. The feel here is now like a Doubletree or lower end hotel. It's certainly not classy anymore as it used to be. The music was nothing special either. This place could use a freshen up and new management perhaps.

Dinner in their 1st floor tiny dining room: 1) a disaster. 2) they ask for food intolerances when make resy but then IGNORE them once we arrive ? 3) their x 6 m sweet young woman server unaware of all in resy & gluten & dairy content of their tiny menu. 4) menu tiny. 5) service sooo slow had to rush with just 1 app + 1 entree each, no time for dessert despite there 1.5 hours before next door Civic Theatre play? 6) their nice 2nd floor dining room closed & terrace closed hostess said. Only small 1st floor dining room used now, likely low # customers. Clearly highly restricted services nowadays ! Hotel nice, neighborhood horrible, so much urine & poverty all around it nowadays.

I'm writing this review for Monica. The lady who works at the front desk and worked her hardest to make my birthday stay special. Thank you for letting me check in early! My room was gorgeous, probably the nicest I've ever stayed in. And the views are spectacular. It even came with a robe! And the best part is there was so much to do at the hotel for the day. I enjoyed the spa mostly. But probably the highlight of the trip for me was High Tea. The harpist was talented, the finger sandwiches were delectable, and I would absolutely recommend it/do it again. Thank you for your hospitality!

We were a party of 9 and we had a lovely Christmas dinner at the Westgate Hotel. The food choices were excellent, the service was perfect and the ambiance of the room was lovely. We would definitely return.

I T ' S - B E C A U S E - I ' M - G R E E N , I S N ' T - I T ? We met Mr. Grinch at High Tea one day, At the Westgate Hotel, a short drive away. He grumbled and sneered, oh what a sight, With a heart so small, green fur so bright. ~ I said, "Why Grinch, a long face you wear? Come on, let's eat, we're happy to share!" He scowled and grumbled, "Food's all a fuss, But I'll have the green eggs, if I must." ~ As we sat there in an awkward silence, I saw a bit of his fabled defiance. When he began to laugh at this fancy soirée, I realized that Grinch wasn't all what they say. ~ Ol' Grinch's eyes widened with sheer surprise, As he tasted the samples that reached for the skies. A smile grew upon his greenish face, Maybe there's hope, in this Grinch's case. ~ He told us a story as we munched on dessert, How Christmas spirit he wanted to hurt. After the pastries, a change had occurred, Now he loves Christmas, that was absurd! ~ Next time you meet a Grinch in your day, Invite him for a tea, come what may. You never know what a little joy might do, To soften his heart, for the rest of the Who's! ~ Pro tip: We are here for their special event: Grinch Tea. The three courses were made fresh and delightful. The servers never let our teacups go cold. We joined Cindy Lou to share Christmas Eve with grumpy ol' Grinch, who begrudgingly came down off his mountain. Seeing the love he gave to the kiddos made my heart grow 3 sizes.

Had a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board with live music and chandeliers everywhere and when the bill came it was less than $50. Unbelievable value in the happy hour here I will definitely return and the service is top notch as well. 5 star dining for less price than a sports bar.

Stayed at The Westgate Hotel for the weekend for wedding. The hotel has a Royalty English look to it, or as I call it - Bridgerton Vibes. The only reason for the 4 star instead of 5 star review was that my wife and I went to their in house restaurant for some food and drinks before the wedding rehearsal and did not get served for 30 minutes. They only came and cleaned out table after 15 minutes but still no one to serve us nor was it busy. The room we stayed in was nice and had an amazing view of the city and ocean. I would recommend a high floor if you can especially if you will be in the hotel for the day to work. The gym is in the same plaza at Aquavie which is a fully stocked gym which reminds of a lower level Equinox like the one in Glendale (Very clean!) Parking can be easily missed and is Valet only. To enter the parking you have to go down West C street and instead of turning right onto 2nd Avenue, you will go straight and down the ramp to their underground parking.

**Winter Wonderland afternoon Tea**. 4.5 Stars. First time here and the tea is held in their lobby. It's very grand so decor was very beautiful, likely because of the holidays. Service was excellent! Server was attentive and checked in on us at the right times, taking away dirty dishes & trash, brought courses out once the prior tray was emptied, filled teapots with hot water, etc. We never once needed to ask for anything because she would be us to it. Took off 1/2 star because the food was similar to other tea snacks so nothing to write home about but their deserts were not too sweet, which is good. Server first brought out the tea selections box where you can smell the tea leaves and decide what tea you wanted. Each person had their own teapot with their own tea choice. A glass of champagne was also included for this particular tea event we purchased . Food wise, there were a total 3 courses beginning with sandwiches, then scones & fruits and desserts - see photos. The harpist was also playing in the room and played the happy birthday tune when a lit up cup cake was brought out for the birthday celebrations. We also received an ornament gift so that was nice. Food accommodations can also be made when you make the reservations for gluten and dairy free and so on. Another pro is the seating / setting is as if you're in a living room sitting on couches / chairs versus the typical table and uncomfortable chairs. Would recommend checking it out at least once. You won't be disappointed.

If you want to transport yourself to an era of classic French glitz and glam this is the place for you. Loved it, we come often. Their lobby is stunning. Their happy hour is unmatched. Beds are comfortable. Their rooftop pool and hot tub in the heart of the city is amazing. It was refreshing to experience a timeless glam like this which differs from the usual sleek modern look you see everywhere else. Definitely worth trying.
