Every single dish we ordered was absolutely amazing. We sat outside under a heater. Even though it was chilly, we were comfortable because they gave us blankets. The server was friendly and informative.

What an amazing experience. Service was very good but the food was just a delight. Chef Carmen really has an awesome menu. First time and definitely not the last.

Ever since cafe Chloe closed I was left with an empty space in the San Diego restaurant scene. This place has just filled that void. Very very cozy spot with great food. Had one of my best dates with my girlfriend. Tried to make a reservation 3 times with no luck. Ended up just a random day walking in and getting a table.

Meh. Three letters say it all. Over hyped. The food tasted good, don’t get me wrong but the portions were a one bite per person type menu which I say why? For the price you can easily up the ante. Sooo many better places in SD for the price. Our waitress promptly cleared our table without even asking if we wanted to order more food, which we were waiting to order a second bottle of wine and more plates. Gives one a sour taste when you feel pushed out.

Delightful tapas restaurant in Mission Hills. The Hen in the woods mushrooms with polenta and the Carne adobada were standouts. Excellent vanilla Panna cotta for dessert.

Second time dining here and it did not disappoint! Spencer our server was spot on with service and recommendations. We tried about 6 dishes between the table and all were great. The wine list is amazing and they had a lot of great wines we had not tried before. The inside is so cute and cozy. Great place.

I am massively unimpressed with this place. The prices are outrageous for the quantity of food per plate, I get that it's tapas, however these are exceptionally small lackluster tastings for the price. The ambience and the waitress were great. The olives are disgusting. The fish was too fishy. The Duck, prosciutto and corn soup were all delightful. I asked for a couple extra green beans to be subbed for the squash I didn't want and they couldn't accommodate that. The chocolate cake for some 15+ bucks came out in a baby food jar, it was literally smaller than a slice of free cake you get at any other place free for your birthday. I think they're really taking advantage of you price-wise for the flavor and portions, I will not be back, I don't support establishments I walk away hungry from after $150.

Real hidden gem in San Diego. First time there and definitely going back for the food, the wine and the ambience.

We had heard about Wolf in the Woods through a bunch of friends of ours and have been meaning to come dine for some time now. We finally scheduled an early New Years dinner. When they sat us down-we were in a little nook by the wine shelf and our server Angelina greeted us with a warm smile, and welcomed us. We ordered a Pauillac and literally the best oysters we have ever had. It was extremely intimate and just our style-can’t wait to come back again soon !

I don’t know how anyone could rate this place as any less than excellent. Everything was delicious! Been here twice and both times had the best experience!

Tooooo expensive for small empty plates, cozy atmosphere but the space is very tight, I can hear everyone's conversation.

'Hidden Gem' is mentioned a lot in reviews and is really spot on. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood of Mission Hills, its a place I would have never known about it had it not been for yelp and skimming through the top restaurants in San Diego for 2023. We were looking for a great place for a birthday dinner and it seemed perfect. Only a few days out, we were so thankful they had ONE slot left for that evening for a party of 2 during last seating at 8:30pm. Meant to be!Just an FYI: booking online said nothing was available for weeks - always pays to call directly!Since it was a holiday week (12/23), its hard to know the typical parking situation, but we easily found a pull-in spot right next to it and it seems like there is plenty in the surrounding neighborhood. We were seated in the back corner next to the window balcony looking out to the canyon. Nice cozy spot. Our server was really great and attentive and everything was timed perfectly. My favorite thing about tapas places if you can keep ordering on the fly and everything comes out quickly. We started with the Harissa Octopus and baked focaccia bread. That bread is to die for and everyone should order. Octopus was good and a nice light starter between two people. One of the specials that was running only through that day before they shut down for the holidays was Pozole. I love pozole and had been thinking a lot about it so that was a natural selection. We chose to split that as well since its in a meal in itself. SO good!! I have typically gotten red pozole so this was a fun new take for me. The chicken was melt in your mouth good and all so comforting. The diner next to us said we have to get the Corn and pinon soup another time as its one of the best things on the menu. I have always hear the measure of a great place is how well they do soup :) For a shared entree we got the Maise and Hen of the Woods- so many people reviewed about it and I could tell it was a shining star. As a mushroom lover, I had a feeling it was going to be amazing. Confirmed, so good! A worthy selection. Finally we got the vanilla bean panna cotta, with a birthday candle, of course. I know it shouldnt be expected, but I will say this was the first place that didnt give a complimentary dessert for someone's birthday. They give you a mini glass of sparking wine, though. So thats a nice gesture. All in all, a really lovely evening and was the perfect bday dinner choice. Definitely coming back for some more focaccia bread and that corn soup!

Everything was great, except after our group of 6 spent almost $700 for dinner and wine. As soon as we finished a desert course, we were asked to hurry up and leave so they could use our table.
