Their gnocchi is heavenly, squishy soft and melt in your mouth divine. Their pizzas are great too. The patio offers amazing outdoor seating and the restaurant has a great upscale yet casual atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting again once their renovations are done.

Very bummed that they are closing to re-open with a new concept in the same space - hopefully in April. This is the best outdoor patio space and the food is excellent, but I understand that after more than 3 decades in business it is time for a change! Can't wait for the new concept and you only have a couple nights before Bacco is gone forever!

This may have been an off night, but this was the worst run restaurant last night. For the entire restaurant, there was only one waiter and one non waiter individual to help with clearing etc. There was someone filling the host role, who also helped with service, but she left at 7, the height of the evening rush. According to the waiter, the restaurant was not staffed for the number of customers who showed up (only 3 reservations). Even so, specials were sold out at 6:30 pm. Our food sat under the heat lamps while the kitchen staff kept ringing the bell. We thought about getting up and getting the plates ourselves, but we still had our salad/bread dishes on our table and didn't really have room for entrees. Plus, it would have been hard on the kitchen staff. The waiter was busy seating guests--not sure why they continued to take walk-ins when they did not have the staff to serve the guests they had (bad management!). One salad was literally fraudulent (a mass of mangled radicchio and arugula was served missing the gorgonzola (a small cube of a feta like cheese) and one walnut instead of the candied pecans). The brussels sprouts were mushy and cold and must have been cooked at some point earlier in the day. Our entrees, which included 2 seafood dishes, were both rubbery due to sitting endlessly under heat lamps (ding, ding, ding, ding, ding) and cold underneath. The food might be ok, we couldn't tell. But someone should tell the wait team to only seat the number of customers they can serve with the staff on hand. Btw, it's always a bad look with a key member of the wait team (the one working in the host/seater role) walks out at the peak of busyness. Either this was due to frustration or a sign that the people working here are not vested in customer service nor in the success of the restaurant.

The Branzino brought back memories of a wonderful dish we had in Rome. Bacco's was just as spectacular. Paired with a Vermentino Primo (suggested by the owner) was truly a match made in heaven. Simply put, the best meal I've had in a very long while.

The restaurant owner ruined my birthday by being unprofessional, rude, nasty, and insulting to us. Since this was our first time eating in this restaurant, we asked a question, and she impatiently, loudly, and rudely answered it. I regret that I did not give her a piece of my mind. She was lucky because I could have yelled at and humiliated her in front of others.

Came here to celebrate my moms bday and was thoroughly impressed. Inside has a lot of tables and we noticed a lot of people enjoying the back patio. We sat inside, next to the fire place. Service was very attentive and quick. We ordered the impepta and cesar salad to start. The clams and mussels were cooked perfectly and tasted great with the tomato sauce. Would definitely recommend it for an appetizer. For mains we got the rigatoni and ravioli. The pasta was cooked perfectly to our liking. There was a lot of flavor in the dishes. We ended with tiramisu. It was fresh and could really taste the coffee. Overall, we loved the food and ambiance here and cant wait to come back again.

Came in on a Sunday evening for a dinner with my SO and so glad I did! Everything was delicious, the food was timely, and the portions were perfect. Wine list is great, and the prices were even better! I'm definitely coming back. Highly recommend!

Bacco catered my dad’s 80th birthday and they did a fantastic job. The lasagna was rich and toothsome, the salads crisp and fresh, and the bread was hearty. Plus, portions were generous and the service was excellent.

Atmosphere (outside area) > food, but table bread is phenomenal and I could eat unhealthy amounts of it any day. The litmus test is the spaghetti and meatballs for the kids and they found it 'meh' and didn't finish it. Also had the branzino (solid), chicken sandwich (pretty good), and a side of fries (damn good).

I want so much to love Bacco because it is in my neighborhood and I'd love a great Italian restaurant within walking distance. I have to say though every time I go to Bacco the experience is the same where I end up paying big restaurant prices for an OK meal. One thing that really bothers me is that when you order a $15 glass of wine from Bacco it must be the worst pour in San Francisco. The very worst. I guess they must have someone in the back rationing out the wine. Let me say this - if you just want to get a pizza and a bottle of wine - not a glass - Bacco will be fine. One sidenote – aside from the hostess the overall vibe isn't what I'd call jolly or upbeat, almost like the waiters and staff are under some sort of duress. There are 2 fantastic Italian restaurants nearby on Valencia St that are much better in every way.

We've been coming to bacco for years - it's our go-to for italian food. Service is always spot on, food is very good and wine selection is very good as well. Overall, bacco does not disappoint.

We were there on a Sunday night and most all the tables outside were filled, a good number inside as well. Our waiter was warm and helpful. The food came promptly and it was superb. There were three of us and we each had three course, all perfectly cooked and presented. My simple dish of spaghetti and meatballs could serve as the model for what that should be: a balanced marinara, tender meatballs and the pasta exactly al dente. I can't wait to return and branch out with one of their specials. Highly recommend this spot.

Unfortunately, my husband asked for a gluten-free pasta and they messed up the order and gave him regular pasta and changed his dish midway. At least they were honest about the mistake. Food was okay and the environment was okay too. We will not be returning anytime soon though.

Went to Bacco for the first time, and had a wonderful time! The entire staff that we interacted with was very friendly, attentive, and efficient, and they offered us the fireplace seat for a nice ambiance! The food was really nice! We especially loved the zuppa as a starter off the specials menu, and the spinach ravioli off of the main menu. Beautifully presented, great texture , and awesome flavor. Topped off with a decadent flourless chocolate cake which was a great closer. The bruschetta was the only dish that we felt was a bit low on flavor, but all in a great dinner!
