We came here during the new year and it was packed but we were still able to be taken in as a walk-in. We both got seated after 30 minutes but that's OK especially with the new year happening. The hostess and waitress was very attentive and the food was amazing. We got the spicy Kung pow chicken and spicy tofu. It's a cute spot and I'll definitely be coming back.

This pains me to write esp for a locally owned small business but I give an extra star for that. Unfortunately for our lunch yesterday on a Sunday, we didn't enjoy any of the dishes we ordered. The menu was also very limited so not many choices. The Burmese falafel were dry and brown and tasted frozen. Samosas were mostly potato and also tasted frozen. The shrimp paste fried rice was ok but the chicken was dry and also tasted frozen. Okra and boiled egg dish was pretty good altho the eggs may not have been fresh. The worst was the Beef curry.. my partner believed it was canned beef. It was pretty bad. I'm not sure why but nothing tasted fresh. It was a very disappointing experience sadly. We did frequent this place when it was previously Borobodur. But this replacement is not up to par, sorry.

Has a coziness touch to it. Welcoming staff and very attentive. Right away, we felt comfort in this cute restaurant. The menu tells a story. Heck, the beautiful decorations tell a story just by looking at them

As a huge fan of Burmese food, this place definitely helps with those cravings. It's quite convenient with its location in downtown. Although the restaurant it self does feel dated and a little grungy the food is quite good. The tea leaf salad was delicious but had more tomatoes than I would like. I ordered the garlic noodles with tofu instead of chicken. It was very flavorful, as was the catfish as described by my accompanying party. We ordered the hot sake which really hit the spot but was more warm than hot. I really suggest this place for take out, as the prices are on par with other more decorative Burmese places.

This restaurant seems to deliver on Caviar under a different name for some reason (Burma by Burma), which made it a bit difficult to find Yelp reviews for. I got the Luca Garlic Noodles and Eggplant Tofu, and both dishes were pretty mediocre. The garlic noodles were quite literally "garlic noodles", some boiled noodles with a couple bits of garlic. The eggplant tofu was also pretty basic and plain, and overall generally tasteless. I had to add some Lao Gan Ma chili crisp to make these dishes worth eating. Overall, won't be ordering from here again. Plenty of other options if you're doing delivery.

One thing I've noticed about other Burmese restaurants is that almost everything on the menu is spicy. I was very happy to see that Beyond Burma has a bunch of non-spicy options to pick from! They happily answered my questions about spice level (even saying that something was not spicy, but they could make it spicy if I wanted. I didn't want spicy, but the option is there for people who like heat!) We ended up getting the Burmese coconut ramen, tea leaf salad, and roti with sauce. The sauce for the roti was very mildly spicy but so tasty! Everything was delicious and definitely look forward to going back and trying more dishes!

Great spot, outdoor seating is available! Food is tasty! And the people are very nice. We would definitely go again.

During the work week, only open for lunch on Fridays. But worth looking forward to because there are lots of interesting and tasty dishes. Definitely a good idea to stray from the typical tea leaf salad to try something new. Bayar Kyaw: These were indeed like little falafels. Crunchy nuggets with a grainy legume filling. I especially like that there were fresh herbs (basil?) mixed into the balls. The spicy and sweet sauce was essential, since they were kinda dry by themselves. Really filling for an appetizer, so don't eat too many and ruin your appetite. Shan Noodle: This reminded me a little of the Wuhan Hot Dry Noodle from Chong Qing Xiao Mien, except without the spicy part. Lots of salty fermented bean flavors in the noodles and paired with salty preserved veggies to accompany it. I was actually given a choice of them adding hot water there or me adding hot water at home; I opted for the latter. Just added enough to the fill to the line in the takeout container so it was slightly wet but not soupy. Tasted pretty fresh for takeout. Rendang Beef: Very dense and filling and packed with flavor! Only looks like a few cubes, but one could easily spread the dish over two meals with ample rice. Puts American-style beef stews to shame as it's just so tasty.

Looks dirty and disheveled. The outside of the building is covered in graffiti... don't want to think about what's happening in the kitchen. Lapisara, directly across the street, does a lovely brunch and Thai dinner. Much better choice.

The food is amazing and totally worth the wait. In our three trips to SF in the past year we have made sure to eat here every time. The tea leaf salad is delicious, as is the chicken with lotus root and black bean sauce. Nothing on the menu has ever disappointed and the flavors are always amazing. A truly delicious restaurant!

The Beyond Burma is the best thing they've got. Try it. I love this place because they have a lot of different creations you would never find anywhere else. This place always has a line and it well worth the wait.

I'm not a big fan of salad.. period. But our server convinced us of their famous tea leaf salad. Amazing!! Other than that, the food was ok. The wait, parking, space, proportion was not worth it. Not recommended for large parties because the space is small and the wait is forever...

Great Beyond Burma place for some delicious Burmese food. Best to go with a group to order and share a bunch of different dishes to experience all the different flavor profiles!
