Great food and the prices arent any different then any other place in cole valley/SF People that complain about their meal being 20$ in 2024 need to stop living in 2014. Also if something doesnt fit into your budget dont eat there. No one is forcing you to buy a salad. Also food prices and overhead are extremely expensive now. Not a reason to leave a business a bad review. Get a life people.

So just tied this new sandwich place in Cole Valley- had their steak sandwhich; bread was good, meat had no chance since it was buried in a sauce which "to Me" had no distinct flavor- there was a lot of it- but it had no role. The goat cheese also got overtaken by "the" sauce. My suggestion is reduce the sauce, let the meat(add some salt) be tasted, let the goat cheese be tasted.

The food is great- I get the same salad every time (spicy tuna) and love the freshness and quantity of food. I once shared tatertots there and they were legit great too! Knocking off a star as I'm disappointed by their 5% surchage on top of Sales Tax, To Go Bag Fee, and Tip! @BlueBarn- if you need to charge more, just up the prices. It feels dishonest to add in a surprise charge at the end. Stop nickle and diming people and just bake it in to the price. Also please add outdoor seating. It's a gorgeous neighborhood to hang out in with food and wine and friends (human and canine).

I love this blue barn!! I had my first blue barn experience at chestnut a few years back and since moving into Cole valley I am so grateful to have a tasty healthy simple grab and go food option. I did not catch her name but the blonde girl who works at the cashier is so incredibly warm sweet and attentive. Each time I've been there she has put so much extra care and attention to my order and I am so appreciative of it because sometimes I am in a huge rush or in a mood because I haven't eaten. There is so much seating and the space is gorgeous. I'm so excited to see how blue barn does in this neighborhood.Dietary restrictions: It is quite easy to make swaps or add ins to your order. There's even a build your own salad option if you're in the mood to create something for yourself ?Parking: I would recommend parking a few streets away and then walking over

My recent visit to Blue Barn in Cole Valley felt like stepping into the Panera of the neighborhood. The chicken sandwich was rather lackluster, and when I inquired about bread options, I was told there were none available. To add to the disappointment, the possibility of getting it toasted was met with a lukewarm response - "we only lightly toast." It seemed like the service person couldn't muster up much enthusiasm. For a neighborhood like Cole Valley, known for its vibrant local eateries, it's worth exploring other sandwich spots bursting with character and flavor. Let's support our local gems!

Blue Barn has good salads and sandwiches, but they're really overpriced. I've had their BLT and Thai Chicken Salad and they both were good but not good enough for the price tag in a minimal service countertop sandwich shop that's not really that far off from Ike's. The ambiance of the place is just kind of meh too. Feels very much like any boring cafe now. Admittedly, I miss Padrecito in this space.

I was so excited for this restaurant to open, and so disappointed when it did. I initially gave 2 stars, but am updating to 3 because I really do want this restaurant to succeed. The salads are way too overpriced, even by SF standards. A basic salad plus tofu with a $3 tip came to over $28. Yes, it is large enough to eat for two meals, but that's not what I'm looking for. While the ingredients are fresh, the salad lacked flavor and crunch. The veggies are all shredded, so it feels like you're eating a mush of all the same flavors. It would be so much better if there were actual pieces of beets, cucumbers, and other veggies instead of shredded bits that aren't distinguishable from each other. The feta cheese added was also shredded into a dust. The lettuce was good, but that's about all I can say. I haven't tried the soup or sandwiches yet. I probably will since it's in my neighborhood. If the salads were the price and quality of Mixt, I'd eat here once a week. When it opened I thought I would be. If the salads improve, I'd be happy to update my review and I'd be super happy to have a good salad shop in the neighborhood.

I am excited to see they opened one in the neighborhood. I went in today and was greeted with a smile and an employee that was genuinely happy to be there. I had the Winter salad (added bacon to it) and tater tots. They brought the food to us. The portions were great and I did not leave hungry. Also the prices were consistent with the other places in the neighborhood. I did not feel it was outrageous. I appreciated the space of the restaurant and there were clean bathrooms on every floor. I'm glad to add this as another go to spot in Cole Valley.

Bad food. The salads are extremely expensive and aren't that large. They are worse than the other blue barns. The sandwiches also aren't good (we had the chicken one)

Friendly service but at the insane prices for wilted, limp old lettuce, old bacon, not much chicken to speak of and a lovely “sf mandate” 5% charge when clearly the company makes enough to properly pay their staff without it. And no, not all sf restaurants charge this fee. They make salads. You would think fresh lettuce would be a priority.Getting mugged in an alley would be a better use of my money. Won’t be returning.
