Went in the other day to celebrate my birthday with some friends. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and fun to take in. Everything we ordered was delicious but maybe a bit small for the price and considering it’s supposed to be family style. Our server however had a strange attitude with us. He briefly went over the menu of ‘Firsts’, ‘Seconds’, and ‘Thirds’ but then later when he took our order he said we had to order everything all together and weren’t allowed to order appetizers before mains. He said we could only order the chutney to start (which isn’t even under the “Firsts” category) but everything else had to be ordered after and we weren’t able to add on after we order. This felt super strange to us but we went along with it. But even so, when we placed our order he suggested we get one more thing but I mentioned we weren’t sure we could eat that much yet and he mumbled some stuff under his breath about “that’s what I’m trying to tell you” as he walked away from our table…. Just kind of rude/weird vibes honestly, not great birthday energy (which was in my reservation notes). They did bring me ice cream and a candle later but it would’ve been nice to not have had snarky service. I will say though, all of the food runners and bussers were kind, helpful, and pleasant.

Had an amazing experience here!First of all it’s a gorgeous space, extremely intentional, airy, unique and feels like you are in another world. The sequence of the meals were perfectly spaced out and someone came to explain/introduce each dish.Highlights:-the cauliflower curry was tangy, filling, complex and beautifully presented. Amazing.-the Lamb Shoulder might have been the star. Extremely rich but not overwhelming. Spicy but balanced. Paired so incredibly well with the glazed sweet flatbread that came with it, that combo of rich savory and sweet was amazing, ended up using the glazed flatbread as a utensil Injera style.-the crystalized coconut crystals with chia and mango was such a unique dish. Crunchy yet soft, tart but coconut creamy. Pairs perfectly with the chai.-the fried chicken, a dryness to it but the dryness almost really worked especially with the lime flavors involved.-clarified Mango lassi drink, clear and fresh but all the flavors of a boozy mango lassi still present. Yum, curious how they clarified it.Everything else was delicious but these had me moved, will definitely return.

We celebrated our anniversary at Copra restaurant, hoping for a memorable dinner. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. The "Mamu Cutlet" and "Gunpowder Goli Vadai" were just average, while the "Thayir Vadai Chaat" was the only highlight. But the "Heirloom Cauliflower Curry" was a disappointment, with unripe cauliflower and a curry that tasted like sambhar. What's more, the prices were exorbitant, making it feel like we were paying for the trendy atmosphere rather than the food. For an anniversary dinner, we expected more. The dishes were overpriced and underwhelming, leaving us feeling like we'd made a poor choice. With so many other great options, we wouldn't recommend Copra for a special occasion.

My new favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay area. The non vegetarian food here amazing but the vegetarian was just okay. My favorites would be the Fried Chicken, Shrimp Vennai Roast, Konkan Crab Curry and the Gunpowder Vadai. Their egg Appam was also really good.I didn't enjoy the Chutney Sampler as they were all a bit too strong for me and I couldn't understand the flavors too well. The Mamu cutlet was also not my favorite. The service is superb and the servers explained everything to us very patiently and also helped us decided on what to eat. The whole place was a bit too loud for me but the food and service more than made up for it :)

If you’re celebrating anything, don’t come here. Will possibly ruin the occasion. Many friends told me this restaurant is great yet the service we received is quite disappointing. The waiter kept insisting we have to oder at least 8 dishes for 4 people. When we suggested ordering 4 dishes first and add more later based on the portion, he REJECTED a couple of times! In the end, we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees plus drinks. It was perfectly fine. It almost feels like the waiters and waitresses have a quota to fill. You really have to fight hard just to get your orders in. Cuz they don’t take it if they don’t think it’s enough. The condescending and strong attitude really made us feel unwelcomed. We booked this place to treat families traveling from afar, totally ruined it. Not recommending this place for celebration.

Food was great. My main nit is we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and we even mentioned in the reservation and not even a complimentary cake or dessert. The waitress even asked us what we were celebrating and it's really sad that they did not even offer to make it special. We would've paid but to not even keep a candle or nothing just feels like lack of a personable touch. You'll can do better

Awesome food, everything we had was delicious. Must try the mutton shoulder and the Crab dish. Desert was awesome too. Cocktails could have been better but everything else from ambience to service was great.

My husband and I had our last meal in San Fransisco here, and the food was awesome. The drinks were tasty, and the atmosphere/decor was inviting and dazzling. We sat at the bar, and we still felt like a part of the larger dining room. Sitting at the bar actually made talking easier as it was rather loud in there. The only complaint I have is the volume inside with the music and guests talking. However, don’t let this deter you. We had the shrimp, Chicken Biryani and Konkan Crab Curry!

Absolutely terrible service. Some guy named Brandon at the reception desk insisted that half hour before they close for lunch service at 1:30 PM, that we each spend $75 for a prefix menu. We explained that we are neighbors, we would like to have a reasonable quantity of lunch and not sit for two hours, but there was no way to reason with this guy. Instead of accommodating us, he tried to lecture us about how we should not get frustrated and that this is what it is!I wish these guys best of luck when the hype dissipates, and when they start relying solely on neighbors. I work two blocks away. And I will make sure to tell the world about my experience I just had today.

Went here on a Sunday evening. The server on duty was extremely distracted and disinterested. I was alone and sat on my table for significant amount of time after which I had to call the server myself to take my order. I had truffle appam( innovative but okay) and black cod( tasty but a tad cold and over priced). The server recommended the cardamom padve for dessert citing it is similar to kulfi( which it wasn’t ) . This was not good at all. I paid for the check while eating the dessert. As the check was paid server did not even bother asking if I liked the dessert ( wanted to tell I didn’t). Extremely slow and poor service. And tip starts from 18% . Not something I expect from a fine dine in SF city. Or maybe I’m expecting too much. Take lessons from NYC and a bar raising restaurant on similar food lines is Senma. I heard the chef was a michelin star. Neither the quality of food or service comes close.

Went to celebrate a birthday. We were lucky enough to get a lunch reservation a day before. We had the shrimp vennai roast, vegetable kothu parotta, kori gassi chicken curry. Everything was good but I had higher expectations given the reputation of the place so I was a tad bit disappointed that the food was like food at other Indian restaurants in the area and nothing extraordinary. The service and ambiance were great though. We did get a mango ice cream for the birthday celebration.
