I’ve dined here a couple of times and I’ve enjoyed my experience here every time.First, I should say that if you see churros on their menu, go get it! Do not miss the opportunity because sometimes it’s not available. The churros were so delicious, especially with the chocolate dipping sauce it comes with. The textures are spot on - crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside.I’ve had a couple of dishes and so far I enjoy the broccolini and the bread with quince paste. I recently had their one item charcuterie board and a pork meatball and it was a perfect dinner for me. The cheese I chose was an aged manchego cheese and it was perfect with crusty bread and quince paste. I just wish there was more quince. And the wine selection is awesome. I’ve always enjoyed every wine I’ve had here. And the staff are very helpful in explaining each one.So the concept of El Lopo is if California was still a part of Mexico. And their menu reflects that. The wines are unique - something you wouldn’t see in the average menu. So don’t be afraid to ask. They have sherry-oke nights and trivia nights. I’ve been to a couple of trivia nights and they’re a lot of fun! It can get loud during those nights.Otherwise, it’s usually pretty chill. I dined on my own and enjoyed people watching. This local bar is so cool and you should definitely check it out if you like good wine and snacking on tapas.

This humble yet proud outpost for sherry - among other Spanish delights - occupies a place "in an alternate reality" whereby San Francisco never became part of Anglo America. Drinking and eating here is a pleasure and indeed an escape from the humdrum quotidian. There might be another place to find sherry or tapas in the city, but Lopo's rotating selection (which usually includes a few California wines as well as excellent picks from all over Spain) is unique in the Bay Area, perhaps in the entire West. Come in for some jamón or albóndigas, relax with an oloroso, settle in for a while with a porrón and you might start believing you've floated from Polk Gulch to the other side of the Atlantic...Vegetarian options: While the menu features a variety of meat and cheese dishes, staff will accommodate dietary restrictions and there are generally several vegetarian or vegan tapa options. It's also excellent for pescatarians.Parking: The location on Polk is easily accessible by bike, and there is ample bike parking: this is the main bike route connecting Fort Mason/the Marina to Civic Center & Powell St stations. It's roughly a mile walking uphill from the Bart, or a short bus ride. There is an SFMTA parking garage at the corner of Bush.

Can't say enough good things about this place, we come here for every celebration occasion. "Just take care of me" until you're full, can't go wrong! The food and sherry pairings are really special.

Great atmosphere and great service, loved the humour on the menu and other texts around the place. However, the food was on the disappointing sides, mind the bigger snack are still small. The octopus was small and salty, not as tender as advertized and the sauce itself was salty too. The Brussels sprouts were overcooked for my taste and just ok. The bread, that is more of a foccacia kind was nice and fluffy. Drinks: I had a cava and a margarita, they have their own take on the margaritas, it was fine - but I might have expected more from the place and the good reviews. Didn't take pictures in time, unfortunately.

Stumbled (literally) upon this place looking for an after dinner night cap and was so pleasantly surprised by this small tapas bar. Only drank wine but want to come back to enjoy the full experience soon! Unfortunately was a super drunken loud party there but I’m sure this is a great date spot and look forward to bringing my partner back sometime soon. Super friendly staff as well!

The service was really great and I really enjoyed the entrees and small bites. Not a huge fan of the wine cocktails, but that's more of a personal preference. Great wine bar if that is your thing.

Everything we tried was good, but the squash empanada (a spooky season special) was life-changing :) The Galician wine cocktails were really tasty and unique.Vegetarian options: A lot of the choices are vegetarian, but be sure to check - some dishes that look veggie use pork fat or chopped anchovies for flavor. (The servers were great about informing us of that though)

Maybe don't book a reservation in the evenings because they close early without updating booking sites, as was the case when my dinner mate and I booked a reservation on October 15th.

My sister and I visited, ordered two cocktails, one lamb meatball, eggplant, anchovy stuffed olives, and the octopus. After ordering, we were told they were out of the octopus. Food and drinks came pretty quickly, went to eat and discovered the silverware we were given were covered in food (the silverware is put in a jar upside down so you can't see it until you go to eat). It wasn't silverware that had been poorly washed, it was covered in oils and large food pieces, they appeared to have been used and returned to the jar. That was quickly taken care of but still gives you the ick. The anchovie stuffed olives never came out. We didn't ask for them again as we had just finished eating the meatball and eggplant and drinks were almost finished and we were tired. We asked for the check and our server said sure, one moment. He then continued checking out and said bye to everyone and left the bar without giving us the check. We went to someone else to get the check, which was incorrect and still had the anchovie olives on that we never got. That got corrected, and after arriving home I realized they also charged us for the octopus that they told us they were out of and we never got.. Guess we had an unlucky night because so many things went really poorly. Adding a pretty picture of the eggplant and meatball anyway.
