Can't say enough good things about how delighted we were with our visit. The food was excellent, the service outstanding. This is a must go if you're in San Francisco and want great Italian cuisine

I went with a group of friends to hear a friend play with a jazz band. The band was great , probably not if you want to have a quiet lunch but wonderful lively music. The food was top notch and service was very good. We all had a marvelous time.

Me and my group enjoyed our time here. Food and service were wonderful. The only negative was the volume of the music. It was too loud and a number of our group said they had trouble conversing.

Fabulous food. Highly recommend the Osso Buco, Scallopini, Veal picata, and lasagna. Bread is awesome with the Colavita olive oil. Escargot was yummy. Must dip the bread into the garlicky broth. Service was good. Old photos on the wall are worth the trip down memory lane. Such a great experience.

You are looking for an excellent Italian restaurant: this is it.We are connoisseurs and the pasta was to die for (especially after 10 days of US food ?). For a very acceptable value for money. The service was perfect, kind and very commercial. As a family of 6: I recommend. Thanks again.Kid-friendliness: No children's menu but they have "split" a dish for 2. Adorable, without being asked.

Very nice Historic Restaurant. Very welcoming staff. Subtle live music for background ambiance. Our food was outstanding and timely. Overall experience was well worth the price. We will definitely be back on our next visit to San Francisco!

I was there for a special tribute event - so the place was lively, the band was loud (and excellent) - many musicians sat in, singers sang - all in tribute to a musician who played there for years with the band .. and who recently passed. So I can't say much about the restaurant on a normal evening.

Came here with a vendor and oh my goodness this place is amazing. The chef lets the ingredients speak for themselves. Great selection of wine with an awesome atmosphere. I will be coming back to this spot the next time I'm in the city. The only thing I will ding them on is the service could have been more on point.

--The Oldest Italian Restaurant in America--This place has the old-fashioned 1960's homey vibes you're looking for in an Italian restaurant, just absolutely delightful and great for a night out. When you walk in, you are greeted with decorum and interior design of an old-age Italian Trattoria, plucked right from Rome or Florence. The servers are very courteous and friendly as well. The menu is about as classic as it gets, which could be a good thing or bad thing (all your Italian and Italian-American favorites are here, but there is not much reinvention or creativity in the menu). Some of my personal favorite items I tried were the Pesto pasta, as well as the Risotto alla Milanese (though would've prefered if the Risotto came with the Milanese Veal too). The fried calamari was also a classic and very tasty. Overall I think it's a great place, a little on the pricey side but great for a night out in SF North Beach.

The restaurant seems solid and cozy :) the waiter was friendly and professional. He is patient to our questions. The food is okay. We went during the restaurant week and I got the $45 menu. The food is quite on the salty side. The salad is a bit too vinegary than what I liked. The portion is big though! And they cut the cake for our birthday party :)

Very nice restaurant. The team is smiling. The cuisine is fine and delicious. For the first time in 18 days in the USA, we had good bread and good espresso. Well done ! As a bonus, if you come on Sunday, you will have a concert on site.

First customers in the door for Saturday lunch, so super quiet was perfect for our group chat, very different than my lively and exciting dinner experience there. Food and wine were great as before and staff was very friendly and attentive. Seems safe to say they maintain high standards regardless of the seating.

food was great, service was unfortunately subpar... there were only five tables seated in the restaurant at the time, about four or five staff members up and about, but it took 15 minutes after being seated to even be acknowledged, then another 10 minutes after water dropped off, and another 15 minutes to have orders placed... restaurant a bit old and could use some fixing up, but didn't bother me THAT much considering it's been around for so long.
