Shady Chinese-owned bar with regular slacks that look like gang members. Smoking insides makes the experience complete where you can almost feel yourself breathing in that ultra-polluted Beijing smog. Gambling is permitted. A pearl in the Crocker-Amazon neighborhood.

This review is long. I'm sorry. Storytime: My buddies and I recently joined an old-timey baseball league that meets up on Wednesday nights at the nearby Crocker Amazon baseball field. Our first game was 3 Wednesdays ago and after the game we all went to Broken Record (another cool dive bar that's just a couple doors down from Geneva Pub) for a quick post-game beer. "A quick post game beer" turned into closing Broken Record down after about 6 beers, and as we all fanned out after their last call, one of my buddies and I were walking by Geneva Pub and noticed it was still open, so we decided to poke our heads in for one final beer. The spot has a chill SF local neighborhood dive bar feel to it. Nothing fancy, but there's a full bar, several cold beers on tap, plenty of seating, some TVs and a pool table. What else do you need? Atmosphere was friendly. Clientele was mostly younger Asians having a good time either playing dice in the corner tables or chatting it up at the bar. I'm pretty skeptical about the 2 previous salty yelp reviewers who alluded to a perception that they didn't feel welcome because they were "non-Chinese", because if anybody was going to get "wtf are you doing here?" looks, my buddy and I (two dorky white dudes dressed up in vintage 1880's baseball uniforms) would have been ideal candidates, and we got none of that -- as I said, the atmosphere was nothing but friendly. The bartender greeted us and took our order right as we walked up, and he had our frosty beers poured and ready for us by the time we had pulled up a stool and nestled up to the bar. We enjoyed our beers, payed our tab, thanked the bartender and were on our way. Fast-forward through two weeks of me obliviously going through my normal life things and it is now Wednesday and time for our second game (we had a bye week the week before). I get home from work, get changed into my uniform and am about to head out to the baseball field when I realize that my bat bag containing all of my baseball equipment is nowhere to be found. Hmm, I wonder where it could it be? It doesn't take me long before I come to the realization that my stupid drunk a** must have left it hanging on one of the hooks underneath the bar top at Geneva Pub. This sucks multiple layers of balls because a) I have a game that starts in an hour; b) I have no idea if they even found it; c) even if they did find it, I never even called them to claim it, and it has now been two weeks so they've probably given/thrown it away; d) all of the equipment that I had in there was super expensive fancy vintage stuff that I had to special order; and e) they don't open until 9pm and they're not picking up their phone. Well, s**** I head to the game and make it work by sporting my rubber softball cleats and borrowing a glove from the opposing team. My team gets the W and we head to Broken Record afterward for some beers (Geneva Pub hadn't opened yet). After a few beers we decide to call it a night and as we're heading out of Broken Record my teammates are are hanging back on the sidewalk clowning on me because they're all now well aware of my situation and they're thoroughly enjoying watching me do the walk of shame back into the Geneva Pub by myself to carry out what I assumed would be a doomed mission. I walk in and sheepishly ask the bartender if they found a black Nike bat bag roughly two weeks ago and he smiles at me and then walks back to the back corner of the bar and procures my bag from where it had been stashed for the past two weeks. I turn to my teammates and give them the raised victory fist and they all started cheering from the sidewalk along with a few of the patrons inside who watched it all unfold. The bartender hands me my bag and as I'm thanking him, my teammates all pile in from outside because this was cause for a victory round of beers, and apparently I'm buying. Shout out t
