Neighborhood bakery, deli, dim sum takeout business that is family operated. Convenient location if you live in the area as parking can be a challenge on busy Judah. There is a city metered parking lot around the block if you don't find anything on the street. Also numerous bus and metro lines run thru the neighborhood. Establishment is takeout and cash only. They have dim sum, various steamed and baked buns, a hot food deli with chow mien, chow fun, chow fan, and 5-6 meat and veggie items if you want a one or two item meal for lunch or dinner. I had the: - steamed combo big bun "Dai Gai Bau" of chopped chicken, mushroom, and egg for $3 (tasty but wish there was more filling and less bun), - baked bbq pork bun "Gok Char Siu Bau" for $2 (tasty and takes 25 minutes for them to bake), - Sesame Ball with Red Bean Filling for $1.20 (3 for $3.60, good version), - Egg Roll for $1.20 (pass on this version), and - Fried Chicken (by weight, two medium sized drumsticks for $3.40, a bit salty). Their dim sum is 3 for $3.60 and deli combo plate to go is $8.95 plus tax. Decent for a neighborhood deli and bakery and when you have a craving for some quick, hot food.

A gigantic mound of Chinese comfort food for a very good price! The taste is exactly as I remember it from SF Chinatown many many years ago. Also, you can ask for more to be loaded onto the combo plate for extra $$! So I gave a bit of tip too. This location is also convenient and walkable. It is the local joint to go to for some quick, hot, and well-priced Chinese food and dim sum! They even have fully stuffed tofu, chicken dumplings, and veggies!

Passable Chinese fast food. It’s not great, not terrible. Pretty cheap. You get what you pay for. One thing to keep in mind is that everything you order needs to be reheated at home. None of the food is particularly kept hot.

I think this place has been here for 30 years. The only reason I didn't not come here more often is that the parking is difficult. One needs to be taking MUNI, walking by, or have someone drive you and wait while you are ordering. That being said, the taste of the dim sum served here is just like my grandma's dim sum (also a restaurant owner). It screams home made with love. There is NO ambiance. One has to seperate the look of this place from the actual taste of the food. The taste being "wonderful". This place is the definition of mom and pop, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Obviously if it looks like the food has been sitting out for a while, do not get it. It is hard for any restaurant/bakery to gauge demand. This place has been here for a very long time and over that period (30 years or so)...I am not aware of any family, friends or colleagues coming down with a gastrointestinal illness or other. For good measure, I looked up the health inspection over the past three years. This Bakery had an "unscheduled" or surprise inspection in a January 2023 and PASSED. This place will not be listed in any tourist guide for best places to eat in SF. But take it from a native San Franciscan, this is a quintessential taste experience. The locals know. The service is on par with the legendary wait staff (cigarette hanging out of the corner of their lip) at Sam Wo in San Francisco where the food was thrown on the table...

Felt hungry after a walk in Golden Gate Park and craving dim sum. This place offers most dim sum at 3.5$. In SF this is where I come to feel like I can afford take out, other than Chinatown. the portions are huge. The siu mai are so big and all meaty. Not to generalize, but you know the place is legit when you see little kids of the family were having the same food they sell. And also cash only and the old school hand writing menu and a little calculator! No sf mandate service fee no screen to add tips!!! They are exactly what I was looking for and really thankful for businesses like these in the city.

I come here almost every week on my way back home from work at UCSF. The portions never fail to disappoint for the price I pay. The lady working there is super kind and generous - I will be going here more and more to get food

Went here for a quick and affordable lunch and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered har gow, shumai, chive and shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, and a small side of vegetables. All tasted good and the har gow and shumai were quite large which makes the food definitely worth the price. The turnip cakes tasted good as well and I would order them again for sure. The vegetables were seasoned well in a soy sauce/oyster sauce type dressing. The service was quick and friendly. There's no dine-in space which is perfectly fine. The place is a good take-out or picnic stop. For three people, $34 of food was more than enough which is a good price nowadays.

Nice hole in the wall. Delicious items to choose from.Chow fun was very flavorful. Chowmein was good even though it looks pale.Eggplant tofu was very tasty. Tofu with veggies were good. Chicken wings were good but small. Potstickers ? not so great as they needdd to be more pan fried.Veggie egg rolls were super delicious but ask for sweet sauce as they won’t give unless you ask. Sesame bean ball was perfect. Tofu skin with veggies was a tad too sweet for my taste. I’ve never had it before but I’ll skip it from now on. Chinese donut was excellent.

I checked this place out on a fluke as a couple of regulars on the Richmond side are closed on Tuesdays. I was looking for porridge/jook this morning and this place was open. My general rule of thumb Is I buy maybe 1 or 2 items and try them out first for before purchasing other items. The jook or porridge was the oddest tasting and the texture was even more strange. I've eaten jook from many places and this jook was essentially so bad it was inedible. It was very disappointing I tossed it. The one thing that was very good, as long as it's freshly fried, was the sesame balls. It's crispy and chewy on the outside with a fair amount of sweet filling on the inside. Not too doughy at all. I wished I had more. I can't say anything else was good.

Delicious and worth the $8 for a combo. Fried spring rolls were nice and crispy, just don't forget to ask for the dipping sauce as they won't give it to you unless you ask them.

A true dim sum gem in the inner sunset. Best lunch deal in the area. $15 goes a long way here. Everything here is good, the dishes and the dim sums

Even though they've been here for as far back as I can remember, it's clearly taken me a while to finally make my way to Hing Wang. Not that I ever had a reason not to; if anything, it's just that I never seem to remember that they're even here! Which, admittedly, sounds far worse than I intend. However, given how modestly small and semi-tucked away their location is, they're so easy to overlook!Since they sit on the edge of where most of 9th Ave's restaurants lie, Hing Wang doesn't get the same type of foot traffic passing by their door. For those that are familiar with them, though, they know this place is a nice little secret of sorts. And when I say "little", I do mean little - this is definitely one of the smallest Chinese delis I've been to. And yet, despite their stature, they still put out an impressive array of hot foods and dim sum options. Granted, most of the latter are your typical staples (har gow, siu mai, turnip cake, potstickers, etc.), but I'm okay with it - beggars can't be choosers and I'm just happy there's another to-go dim sum joint around! Now, as far as that "secret" goes, it's not really much of a secret, based on the wide range of workers I've seen stop in (MUNI drivers, police officers, EMT's, UCSF students, etc.). At just $8.75(!!), their two item combination rice plate (or chow fun, chow mein, or fried rice for $1.25 more) is practically the epitome of a budget friendly lunch. What's more, you have so many options to choose from - sweet & sour chicken, black bean spareribs, beef & broccoli, stuffed tofu, sesame chicken, mixed vegetables, teriyaki chicken, fried fish, chicken feet, and so much more.-- Hot Foods Section 1 - Chow Fun, Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Pork and Salted Fish, etc.(yelp.com/biz_photos/hing…)-- Hot Foods Section 2 - Mixed Stir Fried Vegetables, Stuffed Tofu, Chicken Feet, Chicken and Mushrooms, etc.(yelp.com/biz_photos/hing…)The times I've been here, I've generally stuck with the same half dozen items and rotated based on whatever I happen to be in the mood for. For the dim sum items, I usually order their har gow, siu mai, and char siu baos. All of them are perfectly fine for a to-go spot (the siu mai is the best of the three), but closer to average compared to most dim sum restaurants. As for the hot foods, the chow mein and chow fun are okay (light on char siu, but lots of vegetables) and their sesame chicken, sweet & sour chicken, and teriyaki chicken are fairly decent. However, the black bean spareribs were oddly sweet and their mushroom, pork, and ginger dish had a tart/sour taste to it.While the food is more of the "hit or miss" variety, one thing that is definitely a "hit" about Hing Wang is how friendly all of the workers are. Chinese delis like this don't have the greatest reputation when it comes to service, but I've been greeted with a friendly "hello" every time I've walked in and I've seen them take the time to chat with folks who seem to be regulars. Not at all necessary (I'm used to/fine with the more transactional interactions at places like this), but it's certainly appreciated! All in all, even though the food here is more appealing for how budget friendly it is rather than how good it is, I've still found myself coming in from time to time just for something quick and convenient. That is, if I'm already in the area, as parking around here can be tough at times. I guess that's just the price to pay to get a sizable lunch for under $9!CASH ONLY.

There is a 100% probability that they refry and serve stale food. It’s your lucky day if you didn’t have a bad tummy ! Careful when you buy stuff especially fritters.
