Came with friends thinking this pop up would be a cool experience, but left feeling hungry and disappointed. Genuinely confused about how effusive some of the reviews are. Did I go to the same place?I honestly didn't think it was worth the price, and I wouldn't recommend it to friends. Compared to other popups (Lazy Bear, Good Good Culture Club), Ichido doesn't hit the mark. If I'm going to drive out to a questionable part of town, I was hoping to at least eat enough to feel full. Or make it BYOB to have some sort of hook? Some of the dishes had good flavor, but the quantities seemed more appropriate for kids. If you're looking for a good sushi, at a comparable price, I'd recommend skipping Ichido and going to Hinata

I had one of my favorite dining experiences of all time at Ichido, a pop up restaurant with a California-Japanese tasting menu held at Sequoia Sake's brewery. It was super fun and interactive, as Chef Geoff prepares the food right next to the communal table and guests can come up to watch or ask questions. He also describes each dish as it's served, including how he actually caught the halibut himself that we were about to eat! My favorite dish was the Soba Noodles w/Herring, Charred Onion Wholegrain Mustard, Fuji Apple & Fried Garlic. If you've been to Lazy Bear, Ichido is almost like an Asian version with an interactive, industrial vibe..plus sake is included with the meal! The chocolate dessert was so rich and delicious, hard to believe it was vegan and made w/yams and tofu! The Sequoia Ginjo sake was so smooth and paired so well with everything that I ended up buying a bottle to take home. Definitely recommend for a special night out!

Great dinner and great vibe in a modern setting. I went with my girlfriend, and it was the perfect special date night. The food was amazing, and the ambience was a lot of fun.

Amazing evening with Chef Geoff who taught us a great deal and prepared just an amazing array of food for this group of about 20 guests. I'd do it again in a second!

The chef used all local.ingredients and he works together with local.vendors. Plating was always great and I am a repeat customer..I will follow him wherever he goes.

I'm a current SF resident and this has been one of my favorite dining experiences in the decade I've been in SF (and I make it out to quite a bit of restaurants). I'd say this event punches way above its weight - I've been to some Michelin star restaurants and would say that this at that quality level. Chef Geoff serves up an amazing and creative menu, with interesting Japanese flavors, as well as superb presentation and flavors. The service was also great, along with explanations or story of the different dishes. Add that to the fact that much of the food freshly caught by him, makes it that much more impressive! Looking forward to trying this again!

Ichido is definitely an experience worthy of exploring. My friend wanted to dine in for a new year's celebration and I was a little cynical due to the mediocre presentation of the food in the pictures. When we did agree to come, the experience was phenomenal. Chef Geoffrey intimately prepared our dishes right in front of us, and although the food wasn't plated extravagantly, the flavor palette was more sensational then most expensive nicely plated dishes from fancy restaurants I've tried. Chef Geoffrey creates extremely savory dishes with flavors you'll yearn and crave for even years after your experience. A favorite dish of mine was the black cod over custard. Perfect balance of creamy, salt, and sweetness. Hope you're lucky enough to show up to this pop up =)

Wonderful meal! Very casual conversation with the chef and other guests; being able to watch the cooking process was interesting as well. This unique concept proved to be a rewarding meal and exciting experience. The food was delicious!

The chef introduces each course including where the fish was caught or purchased, how the dish is prepared and how it relates to traditional Japanese cooking, and in what ways it departs from tradition. For some dishes that require less prep time you can watch him prepare in the kitchen, including breaking down whole fish like you've never seen. And it's not just the seafood! The chef makes delicious popcorn, short rib, lamb chop, and desserts.I will continue to bring visitors to Ichidio - I know the food and atmosphere will be excellent, and I don't have to worry about accidentally over-hyping the meal and have it falling a bit short, which unfortunately sometimes happens at some restaurants in SF.Highly recommended
