No more AYCE which is disappointing but this went from one of the best deals on sushi to one of the worst overnight. This is a decent date night spot and the happy hour menu is nice, but the rolls are VERY small so whatever discount you get for happy hour is countered by how much you need to fill up. Food was still pretty good quality, nothing crazy but absolutely not what we were hoping for and certainly downhill from the previous owners.

We came to do the AYCE, but the place is under new ownership, so that's gone. Prices are higher compared to other places. Food is good, but for the price you pay for the nigiri/sashimi is not looking good. I don't think much people will return as there isn't anything special for what you are paying for. Service needs to be better. Ambiance is good.

Misleading, they don't do AYCE anymore here. Food was good, service was okay. For the prices here I think there are better sushi options in SF.

Solid AYCE sushi spot! It replaced Ultra Sushi but they have the same (or super similar) menu items as them - so maybe just ownership changes? Either way this is a solid spot for AYCE which is very lacking in the bay area overall compared to socal. The ordering system may seem odd (one star item must accompany non-starred items) but it honestly isn't too difficult and allows you to try other things. Everything tasted fresh and they were attentive.

This review is from an Uber eats order so maybe the quality of the food is better in store but my goodness, this was horrendous. We ordered two rolls, chicken karaage, takoyaki and edamame. All just short of inedible. The fish tasted old and stale, definitely not fresh. IDK why the rolls were sour but that definitely shouldn't have been the case. We were only able to eat the edamame and the takoyaki. And why they're charging $18 for inedible rolls is beyond me. Not worth it.

No more AYCE sushi, even though some other customers at restaurant same time as us today are getting the all you can eat menu, server said new owner takes over next week,so only old customer can get all you can eat, don't come here if u want all u can eat,

This place deserves more hype! The ayce menu is very reasonably priced at 45.99 per person. The fish was very fresh and the grilled squid was delicious. There also wasn't a wait on a Sunday evening. Service was great as there were multiple waiters servings us. Solid place if you are craving sushi.

The quality of most of the fish was good. The 20 pc sashimi combo had some fish that melts in your mouth and others that were way too slimy/fishy/potent and honestly inedible. The service was decent but bathroom could be cleaner. There was no air conditioning in the restaurant, so it was incredibly stuffy and uncomfortable to want to stay and enjoy AYCE especially at $46 per person. We also don't like the restrictions on how many items you can order per round and the ones that are the most popular can only be ordered once and you have to pick 2 non starred items and you aren't allowed to ordered more than 3 items each person and can only order the same item 3 times. I wouldn't necessarily call this AYCE bc it has limitations and restrictions on how much of something one can eat. We came on a whim and not sure if we'd come back. Would need air conditioning in the restaurant to be working properly to feel compelled to come back. I feel like their are better options for AYCE than this place.

Best. AYCE sushi. Ever. Kanpai Sushi House is one of the best AYCE sushi places in the Bay Area. I've had a lot of sushi in my life and even make my own with fresh fish from Japanese supermarkets and this place trumps it all. They have a wide selection of AYCE sushi items and also have a bunch of great apps and bbq skewers. I'll just let my photo speak for itself for the quality of the fish. Keep in mind all of it for ~$45 a person. We were served by Vicky and Rebecca and they were amazing. I felt the first round was hard to order because of the big menu AND my friends and I were starving. After the first round, each subsequent round just started flowing in. If you're having a few hot sake shots and vibing to the great music, be sure to give Vicky a kudos as that is her playlist!! If you like the food, tell the chefs! They're very friendly and receptive when I chatted with them. A bit of background: Kanpai opened 10/2023 in replacement of Ultra Sushi. This place has a new owner and has no affiliation to the prior restaurant but concept is exactly the same.

Finally found a place in SF that has AYCE sushi! I actually really liked this place. The quality of fish for the price you pay is great. Service was pretty good, but they were slow to refill waters. My friends and I ate A LOT of food and the way they did the AYCE was similar to other places. The marker stopped working after a few rounds, but i think it has to do with how things are wiped off the order sheet. Was a bit hard to write but it was fine. I would def come here again! Parking in the area is a bit difficult so I would plan for that too.

Same exact situation as Ultra couple months ago. They just changed the name, same food, same service, same ordering system, same people.

i have seen this place transform into many different all you can eat sushi joints since 2018 & it seems to be the same owners or something because nothing really changes except for the name.. either way its so hard to find an AYCE sushi spot in this city. this place is QUALITY, okay?! lemme tell you. its the only reason it keeps me coming back. it's AYCE and all you can drink!!! c'mon now. the staff is so incredibly nice and the sushi is FRESH. service is QUICK. they are on it. you will leave full and FED. the place is beautiful and its clean. the layout is amazing so you dont feel claustrophobic af. the only pictures i have apparently show my partners face so im sorry y'all, but believe me it's worth it. definitely thought the place deserves an updated menu photo at the very least so y'all can see what you're getting into. ( ~$48 per person , BUT ITS ALL YOU CAN EAT AND ALL YOU CAN DRINK & ofc they charge for leftovers. get what you can eat.)

I almost wanna keep this one to myself. I love all you can eat places and this is possibly the best AYCE sushi I've ever had. The place is small and cute. It seemed like there was one woman running the front of the house and one guy doing all of the sushi behind the bar. Surprisingly, the service was pretty quick and he put quite a lot of care into each dish (instead of the typical slopping fish chunks on a plate as fast as possible). The rules look complicated, but basically there's some stuff each person can only order once, and there's other special stuff that you have to pair with non-special stuff. It makes sense when you do it. The AYCE menu includes sashimi(!!!), sushi rolls, nigiri, robata (grilled skewers), an array of appetizers, and drinks--including hot sake! The fish quality was excellent, well portioned, and beautifully plated. There are even some vegetarian options. I can't wait to go back.

The fish quality is great, easily the best quality fish I've had at an AYCE place. Kanpai offers all you can eat and drink for $46; a pretty large selection of food (appetizers, rolls, nigiri, sashimi !!, and skewers) but the only alcoholic drink included is hot sake (they also offer sodas on the aycd). It's great value for a wide variety of quality food, and though the sake wasn't great, it's an awesome deal over all. One complaint is that the ordering system is kind of clunky and confusing. You can order 3 items per person per order, but only 1 starred item at a time, and red-starred items are limited to one-order per person but if you get the sashimi plate it counts as your 3 items... and the staff asked our group of 9 to order from 2 menus which made it additionally confusing. The staff explained the rules and didn't seem too strict for our group though The food was great overall; I love that sashimi is included and the belly cuts were pretty tasty. Premium items like oysters, o-toro, and uni were all really good, thought there was a slight fishiness with the uni. Service was really fast despite our large group ordering pretty quickly. They do take reservations.

This place is a bit pricier than other ayce sushi I've been to in California. They don't have a lot of selections, but they have u limited sake. I don't drink alcohol, so it's not an advantage. The sushi quality was good. The service was quick. We were there on Monday night for dinner. The restaurant is small. Parking is street parking.
