Decided to explore the sunset and came upon this new place. It surprises me as this was finally a nearby location for queso birria tacos. It also got my attention as the sold salvodorian beer and much more . Food had a nice kick to it but I will for sure come back for the quesabirria

Sunday brunch - so relaxing with excellent food, cocktails, and service. No problem getting seated on a sunny Sunday. Variations on mimosas, margaritas and Bloody Mary on the menu. Peruvian and Peruvian-inspired food options. We loved the chilaquiles and the gallina hash - fabulous flavors! Top notch service. Will be back!

Enjoyed a casual lunch here on a sunny Saturday. The food was flavourful and the service was friendly and expedient! I'm a sucker for ceviche and I was not disappointed. After many an overpriced SF meal it was great to find a good meal at a decent price.

I’ve been several times and everything I’ve eaten there has been fantastic: chicken hash, ají de gallina, lamb chops, adobo de chancho, fried plantains…

A gem in the Outer Sunset! I have tried some of their dishes and let me tell you Mixto never disappoints. I love the chicharrón de pollo and they also have really good birria tacos! The service was excellent and we also had a nice little chat with the owner who wanted to make sure everything was okay with our order. Definitely recommend this restaurant. The beach is just a few blocks away so that's a plus!

I had a not pleasant experience, I am Peruvian and the Peruvian food that they prepare in that place does not represent anything to our gastronomy, ask for another menu less Peruvian food and you will be disappointed.

Great service, friendly staff, DELICIOUS food! First time at Mixto and it did not disappoint. We went there for dinner and ordered ceviche mixto, birria taco’s and arroz con mariscos. The portions are very generous (two people couldn’t finish a starter, ceviche and a main, took some of it home) and everything is freshly made which makes them very flexible when it comes to food restrictions. I like the dim lighting because it made the dinner feel like date night on a Wednesday. Also, it is located in a quiet neighborhood which gives so much privacy and the time to properly enjoy your food without rushing to empty the table. Will visit them for brunch next time??

The food was delicious but our waiter kept listening in on our conversations from across the room and then coming over to comment on them. It was sweet at first but started to make me and my friends feel very uncomfortable. I love friendly wait staff but I came to enjoy a meal with my friends and it made us all feel very odd to constantly have our private conversations commented on from across the room.

Y'know, if you put pretty much anything on toasted Dutch Crunch, I'll eat it. I was taking the N-Judah out to Ocean Beach and noticed this Peruvian spot had replaced Mr. Dragon which had pretty good wonton soup. However, Latin food works for me, too. They were getting ready to close by the time I arrived, and sadly for them, it was as still as a tomb. They serve brunch until 3PM, and it's a pretty extensive menu. What drew my eye, though, was the $17 Pan Con Lomito, sautéed steak strips on toasted Dutch Crunch with onion, tomato, soy sauce, cheese, and cilantro aioli (photo: It was quite good with the meat tender and juicy. I went with the side salad instead of the fries, so give me some credit for restraint. But not much. FOOD - 4 stars...mighty juicy steak sandwich with the ideal bread AMBIANCE - 4 stars...spacious and quiet at this remote Outer Sunset location SERVICE - 3.5 stars...on the quiet side TOTAL - 4 stars...the enticing entrees make a return visit probably in the evening RELATED - Exploring the Sunset? We ended up stopping by after our Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C all fell through on a Sunday morning. We had originally wanted to go to the Park Chalet, but they didn't have any seating so we checked out the Beach Chalet. That was more upscale than what we were trying to go for, so I saw that Hook Fish had a location within walking distance. They had a hours-long wait time so this was the next closest promising spot. I've never tried much Peruvian cuisine so I was a bit skeptical, but after sitting down and looking at the menu I was immediately a fan of how I saw cilantro everywhere--almost in every dish. My support of cilantro has become somewhat of a meme as one of my close friends has the soapy cilantro gene and whenever we dine out together I make a point to emphasize how much character cilantro adds to any dish I eat. We got some sunset mimosas to start in classic brunch fashion and then ordered the huevos rancheros and lechon asado sandwich with kennebec fries. I didn't try the huevos rancheros personally since I've never been a big fan of that dish, but I was told that the tortillas didn't come crispy and were instead very soggy. The eggs were cooked thoroughly whereas I believe the yolks are supposed to be runny. I did try some of the house potatoes which I liked much better than the kennebec fries. I don't believe I'm personally a fan of this fry style as the ones here were too thick cut and dry for my liking. The pulled pork in the sandwich was absolutely delicious though, tender and very flavorful. The toasted dutch crunch could've done well with a bit more toastiness and crunchiness. Unfortunately the leftovers didn't reheat too well and the remainder of my sandwich went to waste. I wish I had seen the chicha morada on the menu though, I'm a big fan of chicha morada cocktails and reading other reviews now it definitely seems like I missed out.

Great restaurant! Well integrated ingredients! Solid portions. Seafood was done properly. Ceviche and tacos were hitting on all cylinders. Recommend going to this place on a hot day in the summer. Looking forward to my next visit. :)
