Honestly, I always enjoy my experience at Pakwan. My go to is their cheese naan, which in my opinion is the best naan in SF, possibly the bay. I usually accompany it with either an aloo mutter, bengan bartha, or a chicken tikka masala. Something that goes good with naan and is scoop-able. The workers are super nice and show a lot of hospitality. I really like the ambiance and how the dine in experience is as well with the music they play and how It has a family style vibe that makes it really inviting. Overall, one of 16th streets best eats. Enjoy!

Great spot. I listened to the other yelpers and got the vegan Aloo Palak DELICIOUS! I've never been a huge palak fan, this changed my mind. So good!!! A must order! The samosas were fine - nothing special but who's going to complain about samosas?? You order at the counter and then can grab a seat anywhere. It seemed a little competitive to get good seats so grab one when you can. People weren't staying too long though so you won't have to wait long for a table if at all.

hyderabadi dum biryani, cheese naan, nihari, all superb. not sure about authenticity because i’ve never traveled to the region but, dang, if it’s better than this i might have to move there. service is always good too, and the pay first, serve your own water/ utensils format is very convenient.

After a night of playing tennis in Dolores, my friends and I walked a few blocks over to Pakwan for dinner. 16th Street was pretty busy and it was a warm day, so we sat at one of the tables. Our Naan came out steaming hot with a pretty heavy amount of garlic-oil. While the Chicken Tikka Masala curry tasted amazing, there wasn't too much chicken in it. I also got some Chai Masala and Kheer, both of which weren't too sweet and just what I needed to balance out the heavier dishes. I felt that while the prices weren't exceptional for the portions, they were reasonable. I'll be back for sure if I'm ever craving a quick curry in the area,

Pretty good! Was disappointed that they didn't have vegan naan bread though. Would go again if they catered more towards vegans

This is one of my favorite Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the bay. My absolute favorite dish is the chicken achar accompanied with a side of rice, saag paneer and garlic naan bread. The spiciness of the chicken achar has the perfect kick I need in my food. Also, the chai tea is worth trying here. You add the amount of sugar you want to the chai so the sweetness is perfect for you everytime!

Saag chicken was tasty, samosas weee amazing but the real star was the biryani, which comes piled on a plate as an enormous rice mountain. The caramelized onions make it so addictive. Naan is pillowy and a nice cheap side.Portions are huge. Restaurant is mostly self-service. Can’t wait to return.

This is an outstanding place for Indian food. I'm lucky to live just a few blocks away, but I'd gladly drive across town for this treat!
