It's a ramen to get by, it's not bad but it's not incredible either. The schedule says until 10:00 pm, but they took me out at 9 and I had to eat my ramen on the run.

Favorite ramen and izakaya in the city! This place provides, and it’s under-credited.

This place used to be one of my favorite local ramen joints, but it's been a while since I've treated myself to it, and I had no idea it was under new ownership. Friends, the menu is the same, but don't be fooled, all of it is entirely different and it's terrible. The quality has tanked and it's not at all worth the cost to expect what Ramen Izakaya Goku used to be only to receive garbage under the same name. It's honestly insulting they're trying to pass it off as the same food.

Not sure why some people left bad reviews. I had their Kakuni ramen and it was amazing. It's actually on par with Marufuku in Japantown, plus no line. Service was good. Good music too.

Online listings say open until 9 PM. I went in at 8:20 PM asking for a table for one and I was told they stop seating people at 8 PM. This is the second time this happened they won't get another chance.

A friend and I showed a little before 9, giving us an hour to grab food before they close at 10. The server was rude and clearly didnt want to be there at all. We got our ramen around 9:30 and then she came back and dropped off our check minutes later. We felt extremely rushed and uncomfortable. She then sat at the bar and gave us dirty looks as we continued to try to enjoy our food. We purposely chose this spot over ramenwell because it closed later and we didnt want to feel rushed while we ate, big mistake. Won't ever be returning

Was craving ramen after it rained yesterday so decided to stop by this ramen place since u haven't tried it before. I saw from some other reviews that the roasted garlic ramen was one of the favorites so me and my friend both ordered it. The ramen was good for my ramen fix but the flavors did not stand out from some of the other spots in the city. There were some garlic chips that were a little bit too chewy and the tonkotsu super tender, but over all it was a good bowl of ramen and met expectations.

Dining in, you're competing with the to-go orders for attention. The food was just not good. The edamame felt old and the ramen ingredients lacked freshness. Dinner conversation was debating whether the corn was frozen or canned - mine was still cold, so frozen it was.

For my first time in this place the service was on point. I'm not too much of a ramen connoisseur but from the previous reviews and what I saw I mean if you want a nice bowl of ramen it looked hefty. What I got was the chicken karaage and Seaweed salad it was okay.

So the first thing that clued me in that something was off, was when I tried to order Mizuna greens as an add-on to my Ramen and the waiter came back and said sorry we don't know what that is So then I ordered an IPA, and after much back-and-forth was told the only thing they had was Sapporo on tap. OK no problem. I finally asked - is the place under new ownership recently? Yes since July. So I should have kept up with some of the reviews here and been more aware, but alas, the real Ramen Izakaya Goku is no more So the Goku buns came and as opposed to the juicy pork belly that used to be in them, it's a few slabs of BBQ'd dry I don't know what The Ramen comes and all of the toppings are arranged in a too-symmetrical, super-creepy Hello Kitty fashion. Ordered extra egg so dug in and it's cold and obviously sliced and placed on top of the ramen. Corn is also obviously dropped in from a frozen bag. Actual Ramen noodles also tastes and look like they are from a plastic-wrapped package from Ranch 99. Net, net, a pale comparison to what it was before and IMHO just like any standard Ramen Place in a large Midwestern city now. I mean, it's not awful and not inedible, and I feel badly because the waiter was nice, but it is SOOOOO not the amazing authentic place it was before. I will not be back.
