I'm not sure why this place isn't packed. Amazing and unexpected find. Consistently excellent food. Service is wonderful. True gem.

It is my first time in this place, I must be sure that I liked the experience, the location is also a plus, you can park on the street if you are lucky, this time I ordered my food to take away but soon I will come to live the experience in the

Simply put, the food here is delicious!! The salmon sashimi is exquisite in quality, texture, and taste, the unagi nigiri is rich and flavorful and tender, not chewy like at a lot of other sushi joints. Located in the 100% WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE former Krua Thai space, this airy, clean restaurant serves extremely tasty, out-of-the-box Japanese food that's craveable!! The employees are nice, polite, and very helpful. The food is made in a timely manner. Their prices are very reasonable in today's restaurant climate, especially among Japanese restaurants in SF: $7 for two skewers of chicken yakitori? $7 for curry croquettes?! Specialty sushi rolls from $11-15?!! And all of the main dishes, which feature salmon, surprise, surprise, range from $16-25...That, my friends, is as affordable as it gets these days, and for the quality, it's a bargain! I highly recommend Salmon Bar to anyone looking for a clean, well-lit, modern-feeling restaurant with more moderate noise levels where a group of people or a couple can talk without shouting, eat delicious food at a reasonable price, and then go out to a loud bar or nightclub nearby, if they so desire. Salmon Bar really IS a local neighborhood gem!

Food was better than expected. Easy to get ac reservation on the weekends. Needs more than one server though but she was working really hard.

Absolutely amazing seafood, especially salmon, but not limited with it. Amazing torched scallops, Hamachi kama, and salmon dinner. Roasted prawns are good but I think they are better grilled.I will be back to try other items. Highly recommended

I have never been so disgusted by a piece of sushi. My California roll was essentially some mayonnaise wrapped in rice, and my seaweed salad was basically a viscous mess of over sweet dressing. Beyond gross. Wait staff was very

Fast service on a rainy Saturday afternoon and the salmon was tasty. Only knock was the tables look a little dirty but maybe they're just worn and everything shows on the black table top.

This place should be packed every night. The atmosphere is not fancy but the food shines, at prices that are lower than other Japanese/sushi restaurants. Good portions of food, prepared beautifully with care, from happy hour fried bites to fresh tasty oysters and delicious sushi rolls and sashimi. I want to eat here all the time.

Really nice fresh sushi. I had California Roll, my favorite. Had to get a second order. Very polite & fast service. Nice ambiance. Good music, not loud.

Overall a very pleasant dining experience at this restaurant. I was particularly taken by the appetizers, including the seared scallop and the smoked salmon with such a unique presentation. All the food was, I would say, from the level of good to very good. With one huge exception. The chicken Katsu Don. With a recipe that seemed ill conceived and poorly executed. Overly salty, with a lot of broth? The staff was pleasant and polite. But honestly, this place definitely needs to hire more help. There was one person handling the whole restaurant. And judging from the time it took to get the food out to us, I'm guessing there was just one chef. So we were there quite a while. In general, though, the food was so good that I would probably try this again, even with the one dish that was bad and the short staff I think this place is on the cusp is being something very good. But right now it is just good. While I wouldn't say it was busy, there were always a couple other tables with customers. So I think the place is doing OK. Maybe it will have time to grow into its potential.

If you love salmon, you will love this place. This was a perfect place for spontaneous group lunch after church. Lots of seating available. Good menu if everyone likes salmon! SEARED SALMON VOLCANO - I love salmon but especially seared salmon so this was perfect. Lots of seared salmon pieces with a gooey egg on top. Really delicious and big portion. There was a fruit tea that's only a few dollars that many of our friends got. Perfect combo.
