Love this place. A must before the theater (Orpheum).. had the fish and chips and waiting to try the fried chicken and waffles. Pasta with shrimp was also a winner.

Great place for a bite before the Orpheum. With so many closures in SF, its one of the few open eating near the theatre. That said, had a 4:30 reservation before the 7:30 show. Its was surprisingly full and looked like lots of theatre-goers. The service was excellent. The food was good. We had calamari and chicken wings appetizers, loco moco, and meatloaf entrees. Killed some time with coffee. Would recommend if you're going to the Orpheum.

I can't say enough about how great this establishment is. I had reservations to eat at another restaurant but little did I know it would be in the middle of the Chinese New Year parade in SF. A normal 20 minute Lyft took about an hour. So my wife and I decided to head directly to the Orpheum Theater (where we were seeing the MJ musical) and see what was in the area for dinner. Sams American Eatery popped up on Google so we took a chance. Without reservations, they seated us and we had a great dinner before the show. Every employee, from the door greeter to the server, was amazing. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. I will definitely be making this my go to spot before any Broadway shows in the future.

Bright restaurant, good service, and ample portions. Party had the fried chicken and waffles; fried chicken sandwich w option of salad/french fries; and hamburger w fries. Fried chicken was moist and crispy. Would've liked pickles w the hamburger but otherwise quite satisfactory. Had a show at the Orpheum; appreciated that our reserved table was set, when we arrived even w the bustling atmosphere, and service was timely.

It’s refreshing to go to a restaurant where everyone from the servers to the cooks clearly take great pride in what they do. The service is friendly and excellent. The food is high quality and has fun and creative takes on classic diner dishes, and there’s a very extensive drink menu with cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks as well. The atmosphere is very clean and comfortable and features signed cast posters from the many musical theater shows that have played the Orpheum over the years. The prices are very fair, especially for this city. Sam’s really provides a nearly perfect diner experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Great choice for a pre show dinner. Steps away from the Orpheum and they have a good selection to choose from.

Food before seeing MJ Service outstanding! Great seeing all of the signed theatre bills! A delightful place. It's becoming our go to place before seeing something at the Orpheum.

The ambience and service were good. It was close proximity and very convenient to the Orpheum Theatre. We ordered the eggs Benedict which was quite good. The Belgium waffle and Korean fried chicken was dry, overcooked, over battered and really skimpy 2 pieces. The order of Korean chicken wings was also a disappointment. I was caught off guard with the unfamiliar flavor and 6 undersized inky dinky wing segments. Our group of 8 enjoyed ourselves at this establishment though.

Came into town for business and only had one day to actually have a good breakfast or brunch. After looking around where I'm staying, this place popped out. After taking a nice walk to the restaurant I find that it's a nice cozy eatery. I ordered their blueberry pear soda. Just the right mix of tart and sweet without overpowering the pállate. My order of Spicy sausage Benedict arrived. I was torn between the pulled pork or this one. I'm pretty hesitant on ordering Benedict's simply because the hollandaise sauce is what makes a good Benny. This place didn't disappoint. Overall great dish and wonderful warm service. I will definitely be recommending this place

Was working in the area for the month of December 2023 and finally catching up on my reviews. I went to Sam's several times for dinner. Which means i got to try a variety of their food. It is an awesome spot about a block from Civic center Bart/Orpheum theater. Decor is themed with theater production posters. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the items i had there (forgot to take a picture of a few). -The fire chicken fondue with rice cakes was probably my fave. It is pretty spicy so be sure to let them know your spice level. -The burger from the loco moco was really good! (rice was a little too al dente for my tastes) - loved that they did a side of salmon for me as i was wanting more protein to go with the grilled cheese and soup. -Ramen was also yummy! Could use more meat in it but it was tasty. Also spicy! Verdict: Loved Sam's and I would recommend! The staff was also great! Extra Shout out to Danni the hostess/waitress extraordinaire! Heading to the Orpheum for a show? Head to Sam's before hand! It is right down the street!
