I've ordered from them way too many times. You have to add their ghost pepper hot sauce.

Made a phone order and the geniuses never wrote my order down, never asked for my name, number or anything. They said it would be a minimum 30 minute wait to order again. Not going

I don't know whether San Francisco sandwich shops can get more than three stars from me these days. (Love N Haight [RIP] was the tragic exception.) If the sandwich is worth four or five stars, it's probably $19.87, which drops it a star or two. If the sandwich is decent and not too expensive, it's definitely too small for me. And since COVID, sandwich shops and all other places have been shrinking the size of their bread--which also decreases the total ingredients you get--so you're paying the same amount or more for noticeably less sandwich.I like Sunset Subs. I wanted to try--and really should have tried--its much more conveniently located (to me) sister shop Mission Subs before it closed in June. But regret usually goes nowhere good or fast, so we'll skip it for this review. My sandwich was very good. It was too expensive, and slightly too small. I had to wait a long time for it, which is fine because I came during a lunch rush and saw a bunch of other people ordering and/or waiting for their sandwiches. The shop itself feels like a bigger version of Crave Subs in Downtown Berkeley when it was located on Center Street, but whereas Crave felt cramped and uninviting, Sunset Subs feels almost too big and mysterious, so it's inviting and also strange. I guess they sell stuff other than sandwiches, so it's a kind of sandwich store, but that's not quite right either. They don't have as many vegetarian options as Crave Subs--and now, for some reason, I'm comparing Sunset Subs to Crave Subs when that was never my intention.I'd come again, but there are just too many better options on 9th Avenue to make that likely. Bring back Mission Subs!

Amazing place to go and have a bite. It can be slow on days that are busy which is to be expected. Employees help you if you have any questions about the sandwiches you are ordering.

My friend and I were looking for something vegetarian for lunch after visiting the deYoung. I got the plant-based club. It was spectacular, and enough for two people, really. Vegan chicken and vegan bacon with a tasty sauce and avocado, mayo, tomato, and lettuce. My friend got the caprese sandwich. It also looked delicious, and he said it was. I live in San Jose but now I'll have to head back up to SF soon...

Great option for picnic in the park. Lots of yummy snacks too. Same great quality as Irving subs. I toggle between which ever I can find parking first. Parking is impossible so visit on foot

Great sub shop love it ! The Dutch crunch roll was delicious. Employees were friendly, if you'd followed them on Social Media you got a free snack item. The Italian Cowboy, sub of the month - was the best. Would definitely recommend this place.

Great subs. Loved the Dutch crunch rolls. We actually were trying to go to Irving Subs and walked past this place on the way. When we got to the Irving store, it was just one employee who was weeded, told us no cashier, order through the QR, once scanning the code, I saw both the locations and Sunset had an earlier pick up time, so we headed back over there. Sunset seemed to be better staffed, employees were a lot more friendly. Plus Sunset had a better sub of the month, the Italian Cowboy - was my favourite of the three we tried. Goodfellas came 2nd and Warriors was my least favourite. I do prefer a hot sub. We took one as some food for the airport and ate it after our connecting flight, and it was still good. Recommend this place.

Great sandwiches for a good price. Place is clean and service was good. Wouldn't hesitate to stop by here for a sandwich fix. Parking can be challenging but worth it if you have a sammich craving.
