Truly amazing food and service. We went on an evening where there was a show nearby so the restaurant was busy and the bar was slow. However our waiter brought each of us a glass of prosecco while we waited. Our food came out rather fast and together and everything was spectacular. We ordered the Platha, which was hot and perfectly flaky, the Green Curry Noodles, yum!, Tea Leaf Salad, a classic, and the Branzino. Can we stop and talk about the Branzino!!!!!! Absolute perfection. It was fresh, perfectly cooked, and the sauce that went along with it was beyond flavorful with an amazing kick to it. I will go back just for this dish. Hats off to the Chef; who we had a chance to meet and share with them how much we loved this dish. With all four of us having a cocktail and sharing dessert, the cost per person was $64, including 20% gratuity.Dietary restrictions: This restaurant can be challenging for this with nut allergies.

Upon walking in, I was impressed by the chic earth decor and amount of natural light even on a cloudy day. This is a lovely restaurant to bring a date or small group.Since it was during SF Restaurant Week, a couple of us opted for the set menu. For the appetizer course, I got the green tea leaf salad, which was up to standard but a little too oily. I wish I would’ve asked for the tea leaf mixture on the side so that I could regulate how much was mixed into the salad. Overall very delicious though. For the entree course, my friend got the sesame chicken, which is one of Teakwood’s most popular dishes. I went with the eggplant and shrimp at the recommendation of the waiter and was not disappointed. We got the coconut rice to go with the entrees, and it was the perfect pairing. My other friend got the garlic noodles and enjoyed those as well. All the food was fantastic and very clean tasting. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought out our dessert for the set meal as well as a complimentary dessert for my friend who didn’t order the set meal, which was very kind of them. They really went above and beyond!I’m happy I discovered this place thanks to SF Restaurant Week and am sure it will become one of my go-to’s and top places I recommend to friends.

Went there for SF restaurant week, the price was incredible for everything we got - $30 for essentially a 3-course lunch. The food overall was delicious, very well seasoned

We came for brunch and had the platha, tea leaf salad, pork belly with eggs, and the forbidden black rice dessert. Service was great and the food was tasty. The decor is easy and comfortable.

They were understaffed the day we were there. Both people working very hard, but the place was full and it was insufficient coverage. The food was fine, but nothing was a wow. Our salad was bland. My soup was spicy but dull anyway. Wouldn't race back, but if you are looking for a convenient option before a performance, it will be fine.

It was our second visit. The same waiter served us and was very nice. We had a reservation and showed up on time. There were several empty tables and two booths. The hostess told the waiter, “ make sure not to give us a booth.” He put us at the worst table by the door. We asked for a better table and he had an exchange with the hostess. We looked at each other, felt discriminated against and left. I sent a note to the owner to explain why we were treated so poorly and he never responded.

The food and service were very good. However, they have a very rude and disagreeable host. It was very off putting. He never acknowledged my reservation and said only customers with a reservation could sit in a certain area. The restaurant was half empty. I will never go back.

Wonderful location; great service; beautiful space. I'm just not wild about Burmese food. Sorry! This restaurant is popular with those who ARE! We tried the pork ribs appetizer, which were quite spicy and okay flavor, but nothing awesome imho. I really did like the Samusas (just like a Samosa! Indian is not far from Burma). They were also spicy, but came with a lovely 'citrus' (? don't know which) jam which was like marmalade and delicious! I didn't see many dishes being consumed around me that looked so good that I wanted to try them. Its a great location for pre-Opera/Symphony but still does not solve my problem: "Where to eat that is somewhat tasty, somewhat healthy, and somewhat affordable before a concert/ballet?".

As a lover of Burma Superstar, I hoped this restaurant would offer food of similar quality in a beautiful space where I could make a reservation. The space is indeed lovely. But the dishes were underwhelming. Nothing had quite the pizzaz of the original. The tea leaf salad was underdressed. The pumpkin curry was undercooked. The lemon ginger beer was sweet and artificial tasting. Only the pea shoots were as good as I expected. And they were, well, just pea shoots. Plus there seemed to be a premium charged for everything. I might have been happy to pay it, if the food had been great. But it wasn't. And I wasn't.

We're so excited to explore the new restaurant, since we have been eating at Burma Love for so many years. Only gets better and better. Meat lovers can actually consider what we ordered today. Lamb, ribs and Teakwood fried rice. Platha is a must. Then the soy shoots to fresh up your taste. Lamb shack curry was extremely tender and flavorful, definitely a highlight of our dinner today. I will just come back for the lamb and soy shoots as a regular. Ambiance, service as great as usual. We should have come down earlier.

The experience was pleasant. We ordered the Prix Fixe Lunch Special. Everything was delicious and satisfying. The layout of the restaurant was very cozy. We were very impressed with the fried rice. The location is near the Civic Center and there is parking nearby. It is very convenient to dine there if you're going to an event near that area (3 minute walk). Highly recommend it.

We ate here before a symphony, just down the street. The food and service were wonderful. Don't over order. The only item that fell short was the pea shoots. They were more like very mature pea plants.

Enjoyable enough, but I prefer Burma Love over Teakwood. Platha is a great dish to get and share - it was crispy and flaky and the curry coconut dip was flavorful. Mohinga was fine but not standout, I'd probably opt for the coconut curry noodle soup if I came back. Inside vibe is nice & swanky and reservations are fairly easy to come by. I just feel like Teakwood is a watered down + more upscale version of Burma Love, but without my favorite dishes from Burma Love, so it just feels like I'm paying more for an inferior experience.
