Overated for the food and win glass is less than a 4.5oz. Picture attached. The sister company Bird State is definitely a must to try compare to this one …disappointing for Fooding lovers

RAT INFESTATIONThere was a RAT scurrying around in the restaurant. My partner, myself, and several other diners saw a rat in the dining area towards the end of the night. The rat zipped past my feet before hiding somewhere. An employee (or manager?) also saw this rat while passing by our table and said "I saw that too, I am so sorry" and proceeded to do nothing to address the situation. When I brought up to our waiter that we had seen a rat, nothing was done to make the situation better or make sure we were ok.Having just finished and paid for our entire meal, I felt very uneasy knowing that a rat could have contaminated our food, and we had just finished paying.Instead of addressing our concerns or offering some kind of reassurance or reimbursement, my partner and I were offered some kind of sweet dessert drink. (A laughable $4 value per drink). I am guessing this was done in the hopes that we would forget about what happened or not report this incident.Management clearly does not have health and safety as a priority if having a rat infestation in the restaurant is something they brush aside.A shame, since the food was decent and atmosphere was good.*Visited on April 6th, 2024 for a 9:30pm dinner reservation for two with my partner.

from the creators of state bird comes another new american restaurant, more geared towards family style dishes. all of the dishes were tasty, ranging from good to amazing with a similar flavor profile as their sister restaurants so if you love state bird, you’ll love the progress. overall, the dishes were tasty but i was blown away by the cocktail.one punch man: one of the best cocktails i’ve ever had. perfectly balanced milk punch with nice creaminess, freshnessradicchio and point reyes salad: refreshing and tasty, good starter but nothing mind blowing. the cheese was deliciousartichoke toast: ordered based on waiter rec and glad we listened. best dish of the night. rich from the artichoke but the vinegar cut through. toast itself was perfectly made.brown butter seaweed noodles: would recommend! tasty umami flavor, al dente noodles. smaller portions tho.duck: perfectly cooked duck, not too chewy and nice smoky flavor. the wing was cooked through and also extremely flavorful. the two styles of cooking complimented each other. fried rice and kimchi were also tasty. pretty big portions, good to share with 4ppl.

I had no idea what I was walking in to. Loved the atmosphere and the playlist was fab. My cocktail was lovely. The food though? Holy goodness!! So creative, so balanced, so surprising! I can’t wait to come back! Magic happens here. And the crowd was relatively youthful and fun, which made for good people watching;)

I hosted a semi-private group event on the Mezzanine - the menu and ambiance were fantastic!! The servers were very patient with our large group (many requests for photos) and everyone had a wonderful time. The management team at the restaurant are also very responsive and helped me overcome some last minute challenges with a large group reservation. Highly recommended as a regular restaurant and for group dining!

I had some spectacular cocktails and some dishes were super good. I was a little underwhelmed by the duck, though it was still tasty. Service was pretty good, we had a lot of servers, some were fantastic. It's a good vibe, a bit rowdy for the price in my opinion.

Really enjoyed the evening and meal at The Progress! Every dish we tasted was spectacular, specially the masa dumplings with Huitlacoche! Of course we tried the bbq duck and it was amazing, will have to come back and try their other items!I’m sure it won’t disappoint.

A good friend of mine and I enjoyed a delicious meal at The Progress last week. We ordered multiple dishes, all of which you are encouraged to share. My friend is vegetarian, and we found plenty of good options, though I also got to experience the lamb, which our server graciously allowed me to order as a half portion. Everything was creatively done and quite tasty. The cocktails were superb. I deduct one star for the service: our server was way to familiar in tone and attitude, as though we were long-time friends. More importantly, her explanations of the menu were at times more confusing than helpful: are the dishes large, small, how many should we order each? Her advice was conflicting, so we ordered as best we could and were happy with the outcome but it felt like it all could have been much more clearly explained. All in all, a great experience and great ambience.

This is an outstanding Restaurant, one of the best in SF. First, the building is beautiful, a terrific combination of industrial metal, warm wood, and colorful tiles. Next, the food is incredible. All the food is shared and served family style. We started with two salads, and particularly enjoyed the winter citrus salad. An incredible combination of flavors and ingredients. We also had the fried cauliflower and the scallops. We then finished off with the BBQ duck, which was incredible. Our big problem was too much food for us and we ended up taking much of the duck home. Made for a great second meal though! The restaurant also has an extensive wine list. If I had one complaint about the wine list it is the lack of lower priced options. There are only a handful of wines less than $100/bottle, and many bottles in excess of $1000. Our service was excellent throughout the meal. Not only our primary server, but all the other people who brought wine, water, etc. Just a top notch restaurant and we will definitely return.

It was such an experience! The food was so yummy and it was served nicely. We liked everything we had here. The barbuce duck is strongly recommended. The duck itself and the rice are the best thing we had at the Progress. Also, scallops are so delicious, I would recommend it as an appetizer.
