Margarita pitcher is $70 each and not on the menu to let anyone know.

Wow a place that is great and not great in one. The atmosphere is fun and lively and the service is quick, friendly and efficient. The chips and salsa are excellent, but then things go drastically down hill from there. First off the rice is not what you would expect or want unless you like butter flavored Uncle Ben's rice. Second the refried beans were over seasoned with cumin and if a Mexican Restaurant can't get the beans and rice right the rest of the meal will also disappoint. I would definitely go back for a margarita and chips and salsa and maybe guacamole but I definitely wouldn't have a meal there.

Atmosphere and decor of the place is an easy 5/5, very cute and is probably the only reason I'd want to come back here. Food is fine but awfully overpriced, same with drinks. If you're in the neighborhood and have the extra money, it's worth going to. Wouldn't go out of my way to go here though.

The food was delicious as usual, and the service (server: Omar was friendly and efficient) was excellent. I always order my favorite, a large combination. This time I chose Chili Relleno, Ground Beef Taco, and Chicken Burrito, rice, salad, and black beans. Large portions and so Delish! $29.95 My wife and I have been dining at Tia Margarita's since 1969 (55 Yrs.) when we were seniors at Washington High. Now married for 50 years, we have been taking our children to Tia Margarita's for many special occasions too. We all love it! The only thing that has been a little disappointing is that after over five decades of dining there, we have never been acknowledged by name... most likely because nobody even knows our names or even took the time to ask. LOL. Oh well, the restaurant is always busy, and we are so happy about that, and that they are still in business, making delicious food.

IV been going hear for a few years but the prices have just got ridiculous. Food is hardly even mediocre, the staff are pleasant but that's about it how can they get away with charging what they do for frozen bland Mexican food.

I think this restaurant was better pre-Covid. It was more family friendly. Right now, the place is filled with loud music and mainly carousers. The host is friendly as ever, but the servers are very rude. In my most recent visit, the waiter dropped the dirty utensil on my niece's clothes, soiling her blouse and jeans. All we got was a superficial "sorry"; and we had to ask for a napkin to clean off the food. The waitress serving the dishes was blocking most of the walkway, not making room for customers to walk through. In a busy restaurant, it's natural that the staff would have their hands full. Still, they are there to provide the service. So if they want good tips, the least they can do is to acknowledge the customers with a sincere attitude. All in all, although the food is still good, I don't think I will return to this restaurant.Parking: Very difficult to find parking at night. Be prepared to spend 15 minutes or more to look for parking after 7pm (better to look for parking a few blocks away).Kid-friendliness: NOT kids friendly--super loud music, and too many party goers & drinkers.Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible--the indoor space is too cramped.

Extremely shocked by the low rating on here! I eat a lot of Mexican food and tia margarita is one of my favourites in the city. Very good authentic Mexican food and excellent margaritas!

I'm here to say that Tia Margarita did NOT disappoint. I was recommended this place by a friend of mine about raved about their margaritas and I must say that I completely agree with how good they are. The food was amazing and full of flavors and the staff were very nice. I'll be recommending this place myself as well. Great job, Tia!

Perhaps the worst Mexican food I've eaten in SF. They served unseasoned, bland rice pilaf rather than Spanish rice. The queso was clumpy and mainly Velveeta cheese. For a restaurant that has "margarita" in the name, it's wild to me they only had three overpriced options that didn't even taste like they had tequila in them. The service was great, but the food was not. Plenty of other options in SF that are genuine Mexican food and far less expensive. Won't be coming back.

Delish. Fun setting. Good service. Nice bar area. Good size table options, plus the outdoor seating. Recommend.

The food was not authentic Mexican food. Refried beans or out of the can, Never had Carnitas that tasted like chicken and the rice was not traditional Mexican rice. It was rice pilaf out of the box. Not sure what type of sauce they use for the enchiladas as there was no sauce on it. Quesadillas looked like they used the flower taco shells looked more like a child appetizer not good. I am a foodie, and that is not traditional, Mexican or authentic cooking

As always, the food and service were outstanding. The only negative is the noise level which gets into the dining area from the bar section. We were seated in the first dining area past the bar area. When I asked the host to be seated in the second dining area that is further from the bar, he said it was just as noisy due to a party (or 2 parties(?) in that section. Although we had to speak loudly to hear each other, the evening and dinner were fantastic.

Tia Margarita is a long time, old school favorite, and for good reasons - (1) homey, dark neighborhood restaurant vibe, (2) delicious, gigantic portions of food on piping hot plates, (3) strong margaritas and (4) terrific gathering spot with friends. And the chips are crispy and delicious. Sure it's not cheap but eating out is expensive. This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
