Yes it is a dive bar. But it's the cheapest bar in the area with nice staff and nice LOCAL patrons. If you you are a snow flake hipster who only likes shinny new soulless places stay away. It's been around 46 years. I enjoy the company of the staff and yes even the old drunks.
Love this place. When you visit engage with the local/regulars always a great conversation to be had. The bartender Connie is so friendly and genuine. It's a must visit for us when we are in SF.

This is such a sad bar that Joaquin Phoenix used to visit this bar before he became the JOKER. Music is always good and beers are cheap + there is always a spot for you to sit the perfect place for unemployed clowns
