How terrible outside is, how wonderful inside would be ! That’s my overall for tonight ! We order the set menu for 3 items and drink for each of us. The complimentary tarts were great ! And soup and salad was little surprisingly beyond my expectations, and I was even wonder if this is Michelin star restaurant ? My steak was just perfect, and asparagus were even amazingly delicious. Pork chop was huge and the only one like standard. The deserts were absolutely unbelievable boom ! The whole vibe and service is perfect and I’d highly recommend it! Definitely come back for the other time !

Loved the ambiance of Villon, the staff were all excellent and the vibe had a good energy. I would have liked a few more choices entree choices on the menu but what I ordered - the pork katsu, was generously portioned and tasty. My Americano after dinner was delicious as well as the Napoleon. I will be recommending Villon to my friends and will definitely return.

We dined here before going to the Strand Theater across the street. Amazing dinner: good drinks, innovative dishes well prepared. Very nice wait staff with nicely paced service. Dicey neighborhood outside on Market Street but calm and tranquil inside. Beautiful dining room.

Villon is in the Proper Hotel. Both the hotel and restaurant are in the worst block of mid-Market with a lot of folks that have kind of issue hanging out. But if you walk around the east side of the building to McAllister St, everything is fine. And the restaurant is very nice in every respect. For anyone going to the Orpheum, the Golden Gate or the Strand (ACT's second location and where we were headed), Villon is definitely the place for a great meal, with terrific food and excellent service.

Excellent food and service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and explained in detail all their gluten free options for one of the diners in the party. The wine pairing recommendation was also a good choice.

Great place. Little pricey, but so fun. We were in bar / lounge area. Would go back, and recommend.. it was lively with folks enjoying themselves. Bartender so friendly and fun. Artichoke soup and mussel toast were delish

The staff were lovely and it had a tremendous list of cocktail options. The dining room was spacious and not too loud.

A guy I was having dinner told me that a server said something bad about me, When I was in the bathroom. I was polite, everyone was smiling to me. I’m not coming back. And I blocked that guy too.

We popped into Villon for quick appetizers and drinks before our candlelight concert at The International art museum. Our server was Josh and he was so delightful! He recommended some good cocktails and was attentive throughout our meal. We had the cocktail shrimp, salad and fries. Everything was tasty and the ambience was great. Highly recommend this cool spot. We will be back!

Attended tea service. Service was slow..almost understaffed. Needing multiple reminders to get requested items. Presentation of tea sandwiches / sweets was only average at best. Nothing special. Tea offerings were delicious. Not a great value. Probably won't be returning. Glad to have tried it nonetheless.

Really great place to eat pre theatre dinner for Golden Gate, though they are not aware of what they charge for parking. Seems everyone I asked told me from $30/hr to max of $130! We parked elsewhere only to find that max would have been closer to $45 for valet and not more. Food was delicious and great wine and cocktails!

Food was all wonderful and service was friendly and helpful. What a gem and the only issue is that the location is not pleasant. Otherwise, I think that this is one of the best restaurants in the city. Just fabulous

You can never go wrong a Villon for food (een if it is a bit pricey) but this time the servicce was less than stellar. The waiter dissuaded us from getting separate checks (someone else had to provide those at the end of the meal), he told my dingin partner not to order a soup and a salad as that would be too much food (assuming she was going to order an entree which she wasn't planning on doing), she wanted the two items served at the same time but he wouldn't do that and the service just kept going in the same vein. Maybe there should be more training of new staff? Justr sayin',,,,

The cocktails as well as the food and wine pairings were delicious. The service was slow (we sat down at 5:30pm and barely made it out by 7:20pm) but polite and courteous. Love the decor and the location. Perfect place for a pre-theater dinner

We were looking at a few different upscale brunch options for Easter between $95 and $150. Villon was $125. We ordered (2) glasses of Champagne each (no menu with pricing ) and they turned out to be $30 each for a total of $120. So with the valet parking, tax and tip we were out for a little over $500 for two of us. The ambiance was very eclectic and cool, the valet parking fast but for the price I feel it should have been much more amazing as the food and drink weren't bad but about twice the price of what I thought the selection and quality dictated. Serve yourself buffet with bacon and chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, sautéed vegetables , pastries, yogurt, berries and a couple other random small things and then a omelet and waffle station and 1 cut of lamb. No fish (not even salmon) and not even any juice. We had a nice time but for $250 pp out the door I would have expected AMAZING. In contrast we went to Antoine's in NOLA last Spring which is of course the gold standard of Brunch and it was in fact about half of this and 10x amazing. Obviously NOLA vs SF pricing and cost but still !!!
