I visit Alhambra every three months and every time I do, I swing by here for lunch. This trip, I was very disappointed to find out they are permanently closed. I love their xiao long bao and Shanghai noodles. We ended up getting our xlb and noodles from another restaurant but it just wasn't the same.

My go-to Shanghainese restaurant closed down last month. This place felt like home to me, where I can fulfill my Shanghainese stomach, speak my not-so-fluent Shanghai tongue with the "Shanghai aunties" working there. On their last business day, I had to bring my largest pot to take a huge amount of "yee-do-she", in order to properly say goodbye to J&J. I wish you all the best, aunties and uncle. Congratulations on your retirement

My all time favorite place to get xiao long baos. I grew up eating here as a kid and the flavors are super nostalgic to me. I know my review is a lil too late because this place is closing it's doors after 30 plus years. Their last day will be Feb 27th 2022. I will surely miss them.

Called in a to-go order of the crab xiao long bao, pan fried shanghai noodles, and the finless eel noodles. Went in the 20 minute eta and the food was ready. The look of each item was exactly how it appears in the pictures posted online and smelled great! Crab XLB 4/5 the flavor and amount of meat/crab were good. The amount of dough used to make the XLB was thin enough, not too thick. The downside to it was that there wasn't that much soup in each bao. Shanghai Pan Fried Noodles 1/5 it looked good when I opened the box but after digging into it, it was a disappointment. The flavor was nothing like I remembered it to be 15-20 years ago when I ate at the same restaurant. There was a pasty consistency to the sauce which didn't seem right. It was like having a diet version of the dish. Very sad to experience this. Finless Eel Noodle Soup 5/5 the noodles were great, the sauce was savory and enjoyable, the eel was a good texture and flavor. Mix everything together and start eating and enjoyed it! Almost exactly the same as I ate at another Shanginese place.

J&J, or Jing Jiang, is the real deal. I’ve been going here for years… One of the former servers, became the owner.Phenomenal XLB with crab. Stir Fried Glutinous rice cakes. Sheng Jian Bao is great too. Kao Fu. Fantastic Shanghainese cuisine!

Noodle dishes were good. Xlb while tasty, 60% had no soup? Also service and food took forever to get to the table.

It used to be a hot spot for Shanghai cuisine in SGV for 20 years. As there are no customers, the hostess is eager to close the door and urge you to fetch food before 7pm. Ironically, the other restaurants next door are queuing. Ordered a xiaolongbao, hot and sour soup and crispy fish for a total of US$45. I regret coming back here because I got better delicious food and service in Jiangnan Spring. Its pitty that the chef who has no passion and heart to cook. keep the good memories of the past in heart, it's time to move on!

This restaurant been around over 30 years. It has been a while since I been here. The food same very good. Shanghai rice cake, seaweed fried fish are my favorite. My friend drove all the way to Westwood join me. She love it too

The hostess is nice, but the servers seem to be racist. They just stare at me. I haven't been back there because of how uncomfortable they made me feel. The food is good, but not worth going through all that.

I always come back to J&J for their crab soup dumplings. I have been coming here for over 15 years. They have the best soup dumplings in SGV. Thin wrapper, flavorful soup, moist filling. Deliciousness!

Stopped in for a quick bit and got the xiao long pao. It came in a steamer of 10 fresh out of the steamer. The dough was cooked perfectly, not too soft but not too doughy. The soup was nice and hot and the meat was throughly cooked. Service was quick, only thing is they don't serve water (not sure if it was due to the california drought) and they use paper plates (not sure if this is due to covid). Other than those two complaints, it was a great dish.

I hadn't been to J&J in years but I was finally in town again and had to get their xiao long bao -- my favorite. They did not disappoint! I'm glad I was able to stop in and enjoy the delicious dumplings. We ordered both the pork and the pork and crab versions and were very satisfied! The flavor of the broth and the meat were clean but still unctuous, and the dumpling skin was just the right thickness. The restaurant has also taken good cleanliness and safety precautions to combat the spread of Covid-19, which I appreciate.Thank you and well done, J&J team!

Hands down the best dumplings I've had from a restaurant in my life. My family always stops by this small hole-in-the-wall restaurant every time we all visit Los Angeles. They make dumplings the way my grandma makes dumplings and it's a taste that I haven't seen imitated by any chain or mom and pop shops I've ever gone to. It's truly refreshing to see dumplings that take me back home when I'm over 1000 miles away from it. The staff are quite friendly if you speak to them in Mandarin and although the wait time for these dumplings take a little bit of time, it's 100% worth the wait every time. The prices for the dumplings are pretty reasonably priced for the flavor, albeit kind of a little higher than normal. I love the area surrounding this area so much more than the Chinatown in LA, and I definitely recommend anyone who is familiar or unfamiliar to Chinese food to try this spot.

A seemingly established Chinese restaurant serving authentic Shanghai cuisine. Service was prompt on a Saturday early dinner. Decor is typical with Covid precautions in place.Their staple, Steamed Pao, is excellent. Sautéed bean leaflets are fresh, Shanghai style rice cake is soft and thoroughly done, sautéed shrimp is a must and the fried roll can be a great rice substitute. The outer bread layer of the Pan fried Chinese bun is a little too thick. Fish tail in brown sauce would’ve been ideal if used fresh fish instead of frozen. All in all, an enjoyable palate experience.

Good food, highly recommend the fish fillet with seaweed. And Shanghai style noodles.
