I have lived in Taiwan for several years and travel to Shanghai for business 5-6 times a year, but having lunch at this restaurant was a disappointing experience. The fried rice was soggy and the shrimp hadn't been properly thawed from frozen. The taste was bland and I ended up leaving more than half of it.Xiaolongbao, dumplings, etc. were a fair pass. The service from the young male staff was excellent.I added one star for the service. If you were asked if you would like to come again, you would immediately answer no.

Amazing food and fantastic service! You'll love this family owned restaurant. The food was delicious, good quality, and fresh - I forgot to take pictures though. Highly recommend the smoked fish, eel in brown sauce, Shanghai ribs, and the fried buns! Definitely support this local business.

Great option for more uniquely Shanghainese cuisine! Came here for lunch and got (these are the names on the menu):Shutter braise in soy sauce meat - super flavorful melt in your mouth meat. A bit on the sweet side but very worth getting!Pickled watercress - very flavorful veggie dish with a lot of broad beansSliced beef in hot chili oil - this is more like the ma-la (numbing heat) of southern Chinese cuisine, so only get if you can handle it Shanghai salty pork soup - a hearty nice savory soup Parking is a bit tight in this small lot (where every business has claimed specific spots). Service was attentive. This is worth coming here for more specialized dishes.

I was in a dumpling mood and wanted to try a different restaurant. I got XLBs and they were good. There is more to their menu that I haven't tried, so that just means another trip back.

Delicious, authentic, good service, reasonably priced. Loved the salted duck and bamboo soup, the smoked fish appetizer, and the lions head meatballs. Great for our family dinner.

My friend from Changzhou said it was delicious. It was really delicious. It may be the only restaurant in Los Angeles that can cook braised pork. The owner’s son and waiter and I are also dangerous hairline brothers. Uh

This place is a MUST TRY for authentic Shanghainese food!!!!! And it’s VERY affordable. It’s around 25$ per person after tip! Waaaay cheaper than other Chinese food places nowadays.WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK
WangJia is a cozy restaurant with friendly staff and excellent traditional Chinese food. The restaurant is small and intimate, with a very "mom and pop" local feel. Since it was listed on the LA Times "101 Best Restaurants in LA" for 2022, it can sometimes be busy on nights and weekends. Since there's no lobby, if it's full, the waitstaff may recommend ordering takeout instead of waiting for a table. The food is terrific! The blends of spices are robustly seasoned. Starting with the basics-- the scallion pancake is flaky perfection, and an excellent partner to any saucy dish. The fried bao are a chewy, crispy mouthful of richly seasoned meat -- the accompanying sauce is tangy and a little sweet. Highly recommend the eggplant in garlic sauce, with a light garlic flavor and a deep, savory umami sauce. A standout was the mapo tofu, with melt-in-your-mouth silken tofu and a remarkable Szechuan pepper sauce that's above and beyond other local restaurants.

A wonderful mom-and-pop establishment that specializes in authentic Shanghainese cuisine. The experience was truly exceptional! The pork dishes were incredibly flavorful and addictive, leaving me wanting more. Their fried chicken had just the right amount of spiciness, creating a deliciously fiery taste. Additionally, their pan-fried bao was delightful and doesn't smell bad (like kang kang's) . If you're looking for a place to enjoy delicious and authentic Shanghainese food, Wangjia Restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The guy who works here is hella funny and friendly!

The yellow croaker has a large amount of noodles, authentic old Shanghai taste, and the proprietress is generous!
