If you're craving Cambodian cuisine, make sure to visit Angkor Chef, a fantastic Cambodian restaurant located in downtown San Jose. Owned by Channy Laux - Chef and her husband, they've been serving up delicious dishes for about 6 months now. Tina and I were thoroughly impressed by their excellent service and mouthwatering food. The restaurant boasts a sleek and modern design, and we particularly loved the beef skewers (សាច់គោចាកាក់). We definitely will come back for more. #supportlocalbusiness #khmerfood

If you have never had Cambodian food then this place is a good introduction. I walked in on a random day and it seemed a bit slow. As I sat down to look at the menu more people started to show. Servers were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was well lit. To test the authenticity I decided on two things, the beef sticks and their sour soup known as salaw machu kreoung. The food came out pretty quick. Normally the beef sticks is accompanied by a papaya slaw or pickled veggies called chrouk. The red cabbage was ok. The soup had good flavor and a hint of prahok, a must have in any Cambodian kitchen. The soup packed a lot of flavor from the tamarind and herbal paste. The fried curry leaves was a nice touch. The soup could have been more sour but that's a personal preference.

Got to this place with my colleague during the conference at SJ Convention Center. It was at that hour, when we were lucky or unlucky to be the only customers. So, the service was quick and we also got a chance to chat with the owner. If you are as lucky as we were, ask him about the restaurant - an interesting story. And food was amazing! I ordered Amok, and it was one of the best restaurant meals I ever tried. The cherry on the pie was a conversation with the owner about balance of tastes in Cambodian cuisine. Will come again to this place I'm in San Jose.

Food 5 Service 5 Ambiance 5 It has been a long time since I've had Cambodian food as I traveled to the country a few years ago. While visiting San Jose, I was thrilled to know that there were a couple of Cambodian options that I could try once again. I tried my favorite, the papaya salad, also known as the Ngom Lahong and was pleasantly thrilled that it was just as great as I remembered. It contained the fresh basil and the sliced papaya that was chilled and in the delicious dressing. For my main dish, I tried the Ku Tev Cha which I think the best way to describe. It would be something very similar to a Pad Thai as most people would know as it contains the sprouts, rice noodles and peanuts. The tofu was well cooked and very complementary to the noodles. Our server was a young Cambodian woman that was very very nice and the restaurant was very clean with a nice, modern decor. The menu had a lot of options not only meat eaters, but vegetarians as well. My friends had tried the steak salad, which was probably the best pieces of meat I've had in a long time and my vegetarian friend ordered the green curry that tasted as delicious as it looked. They had never tried this type of cuisine before, but were so grateful and appreciative that I brought them out to try something so delicious & different! This place is definitely on my list whenever I come back to visit! Go try it now!

Been loving the food here since I first found it had opened. Been about 3 or 4 times now. The food is always fresh and delicious. Tried a number of different dishes and so far my favorite was the Amok. The chef that runs it loves her food and you can tell. Everyone in the front of the house is friendly too. The restaurant is a nice ambiance. Good for a date or a nice night with friends. There is also some small market items for sale which are delicious and well curated. Recommend buying her book she wrote about survival of the Cambodian camps. It's a joy to come here. I always leave feeling good!

Great new addition to downtown! Delicious, unique, and delicate food. Really pleasant place. Can't miss the salmon skin and mango appetizer. Loved the amok and the lemon grass tofu. Support these guys! We need places like this.

I will preface I have never had Cambodian and Angkor Chef opened my eyes to a brand new cuisine! I quite frankly became OBSESSED with their "Somlaw Machu Kroeung" after eating it. All the dishes we ordered were fabulous! EVERY SINGLE dish on the table had so much flavor and you can taste the love that was put in while creating the dish. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for something different to try! The servers were so kind and helpful during our dinner. Attentive to what we needed and answered any questions we had. The restaurant was such an inviting enviroment with traditional Khmer music playing. Felt like I had traveled to Cambodia.

Nice warm addition to a growing corner of downtown. Cambodian cuisine is under the radar in this area so I was excited to see this open. I enjoyed the appetizers (got the skewers and salmon skin + green mango salad). Also tried a couple of stir fry dishes and the Angkor noodles. Everything was flavorful (some dishes have a bit of a kick). Service was attentive and helpful. I'll definitely come back

We ordered DoorDash today and I was really excited to see another Cambodian restaurant open up. Chez Sovan has always been a big favorite of mine. Unfortunately this was a huge miss. Pearl noodles - super bland, and it wasn't chewy. The noodles were kind of hard and fell apart. Instead of seasoning it, it came with a pack of gluten-free soy sauce and some Sriracha. Beef skewers - these were so tiny and tough. Loklak beef salad - again, the meat was so tough in this. Tofu curry - super loose, and the tofu was just firm tofu cubed, but there were only a few pieces of tofu and the rest was veggies. Amok - this was the best dish of the night, but the portion again was tiny. Khaprow - mostly rice, barely any meat. Jackfruit with sticky rice- the sticky rice was super hard, even when we reheated it it was a brick. The jackfruit was really tasty though. $140 for what we thought would be enough for dinner for four, but it definitely was not enough. I wouldn't mind if the quality was good, or the meat was tender, but it missed so many marks. I'm sad I wasted calories on this and ordered it for family dinner.

Great location in downtown. The staff is super friendly, even one of the owners was there to ask how we are enjoying the food. The food was great. I got the Ku Teh Cha, which was very delicious, and the tofu had phenomenal texture. We bought all three desserts and split amongst the group, and they were all very delicious. First time trying jackfruit, and I dont think it was for me, but the sweet rice was great. The Seasonal Khmer Dessert at the time was wonderful, too. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try Khmer food. It was my first time eating a Khmer dish, and I was not disappointed.
