One of the most authentic Japanese restaurants you can find in South Bay at an affordable price. You won't see them California rolls or fried specialized sushi. I'd highly recommend trying premium kani chirashi, yikiniku don, and kakuni.

Small restaurant , no same day reservation.Ordered Aburi salmon carpaccio, deluxe meshi ( crispy rice pot ), garlic steak don, chicken Karaage .Each dish is good except the garlic steak don , I think inside has butter and too over .But sashimi is sashimi , no skill at all , what you need to do just order the great grade fish …..Table is very small and we sat near the front door , being disturbed when someone walks in. Server only take orders andServe dishes.4 dishes total :$87

When we arrived, I was scared since there were several groups waiting to be seated. However we lucked out and they had a tatami table for our group of 4. (Raised table where you sit taking off your shoes and putting your legs under the table instead of sitting crossed legged). Although it was our first time here, I thought the room warm and the menu wide- lots of choices. My kids usually like dragon rolls but none here. They did have great bento boxes and the meishi(unagi on top of crispy fried rice) was delicious!! And the large was big enough my 16 year old son couldn’t finish it!!! The prices were good too!! Amazingly we all ordered fairly large portions and our bill was $124 so for a Japanese restaurant with fresh fish, I feel you can’t beat that price! Two appetizers plus two bento boxes and shashimi and meishi! Yum!!!

We were supposed to try sweethome next door but ended up here for lunch, what a pleasant surprise as both food and service were great!Came in probably a bit late around 1245 ish without realizing they close at 145pm, but they welcomed us with warmth and grace. They also gave us the tatami table in the back and I appreciated its privacy and quiet environment. Their interior decor was simple. The vibe of chaotic organization made me feel vibrant. The food came quickly and it was stellar! My deluxe meshi with seared salmon tasted tender and delicious with all contrasting elements. Loved the spoonful combination of sour crunchy cucumber pickle, soft fish roe and salmon and hard rice. This dish is to die for!My kids enjoyed their meal and like the food. Husband's large bowl had tender grilled beef and tongue, all good. The only thing he complained was the pork being somewhat dry. Overall everything tasted excellent.Service was friendly, patient and polite. They didn't rush us, even brought water jar in case we need it.Tip: They open for lunch at 11:15am and close at 1:45pm, check schedule on website.

I just don’t understand the good reviews. We came here for lunch, ordered a seafood ramen, a salmon over rice and a combo with Sukiyaki and vegetables udon. The veggie udon has to be the most pathetic looking noodle soup I’ve ever had! They tossed some cabbage in it and called it Vegetable Udon. My father in law’s seafood ramen is no better will all the noodle bundled together and 6 calms buried underneath. My salmon meshi?, the salmon over rice has no flavor, the thin sliced salmon are cooked halfway through, I hope these are sushi grade salmon. As for the combo dish, the sukiyaki came in a tiny stone bowl with rice at the bottom, really just one tiny scoop of meat and they add kimchi to it. They actually have good business which I don’t get. Never again for me.

Love the unique dishes at this place, such as the clam chowder croquettes! Always amazing service and atmosphere. Go early or make a reservation to avoid a lengthy wait.

We came here today at dinner time. They told us the wait time is about 20-30minutes. But we ended up waiting about 50 minutes. The waiter is really rude. We put our name in the list and after waiting for a long time, we asked the waiter how long we need to wait. He just said that "Did you get the call? Wait outside till you get the call" and then go away. This is very rude and impolite. After we finally got the seat, we ordered the unagi bento box and chicken karaage bento box. The food is not good at all. The unagi is too sweet and the takoyaki tastes like a pre-made food. We are very disappointed with this experience.

Quick service, not very typical Japanese taste but still delicious. Expect a wait for walk-ins during weekend dinner without reservation. The entrance is tight, leading to some confusion in the line which is annoying, especially the staff appeared quite busy and didn’t even come up for hosting. However, once inside, you’ll find spacious seating.

The foods are well prepared and tasty, the seating area is comfortable, the dining time limit is little annoying and may not be enough for a group more than 4 people!

Visited Dan Izakaya and left utterly disappointed. The waitress displayed an unfriendly attitude which dampened the atmosphere from the start. Moreover, we were not informed about the extensive wait time, which exceeded an hour, leaving us standing cluelessly for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the lack of basic courtesy overshadowed any positives. Cannot recommend.

We ordered a togo dinner and it was pretty fast on Monday evening. The Unagi meshi and niku tofu were both really tasty! (A little on the savory end so it costs more rice) The prices are reasonable.
