The food is reasonable and I must say good, however I don't like I feel bad when I asked for something. It's like they don't want to spend money on the customer. I asked for water and when asked If I want IcE I got 3 baby cubes, like what's the point of asking me. I ordered street tacos, it came with no lemon/lime and wasn't offered, tacos with lemon that's a must, had barely any cilantro or onion, I must as well just ordered chicken only. When asked for more salsa, felt guilty for asking for more. I didn't even bother asking for alittle more chips. My last visit I wasn't even offered napkins or water. I know the economy is going through it right now, but when a customer chooses your establishment to spend money , don't show your pinching the penny, make them feel guilty asking for things that should just be offered ? ?. Just saying. Improve quality of service ?

The pupusas here are pretty good as well, friendly service. There were some other menu items that looked delicious as well. The only reason this has a four star is because some of the utensils provided were kind of dirty.

Just placed an order, de carne asada burrito, not enough meat. I placed an order asking what I wanted, came by to pick up my food, got the opposite of what I ordered. The guy at the counter was looking at me like I placed the order wrong. Service, not so good.

I ordered two tacos, I'm the only person in the restaurant. I believe this restaurant messed up my order on purpose I ordered two tacos one al pastor , and one carnitas. I open the plate its one chorizo taco and a dry brittle old chorizo, horrible.Bland unseasonably chicken overcooked rice for a burrito, and why is my whole burrito orange color? From what is that MSG???This is a 1-star restaurant.Cannot mess up all 3x items. That I ordered, but they did.The first restaurant I've given a 1-star food rating too.

I got the Carne A La Tampiqeña and an Horchata. The thin-cut beef was overcooked and lacked flavor, and the enchiladas had almost no filling so it was basically soft tortillas in mole. Rice and beans were basic. Horchata was huge. I didn't dislike the food, but the issue was that it came out to $30 after tax and tip. I wouldn't pay half that for that kind of meal. The inside looks like a cheap taqueria too, not like other mexican restaurants that would charge $30 for a meal. The server was nice though. I might go back and try something mentioned in reviews.

Chalateco is one of many taquerias in San Jose, but it just might be one of the most creative food-wise. Yes they have great tacos, quesadillas, etc. But they also have a lot of other dishes that are like creative takes on regular Mexican food. The food itself is also really good.Parking: Parking lot is on site, parking is not an issue.

I just got the Pambazo to go, very tasty, may be because I was really hungry. But very disappointing: 1. No processed next to items so was surprised when it cost $16.40. 2. I asked the lady who took my order which meat she recommended, she said chicken, I went with it. What a DISAPPOINTMENT there's was but maybe 3 at most 5 pieces of chicken about 1.25 inches long and 0.25 inches thick, $16.40!!! WTF!!! There's a lot of interesting items on the menu and thought I would go back and try other items, needless to say you couldn't pay me to go back, not for those prices for what you get!

the waiter is a terrible impudent mexican boor. That's why there are no people there.

Place is good. It was Surprisingly expensive. The menus don’t have prices listed on them so you are ordering not knowing what your bill will be. I ordered a chilaquilles plate and a large huarache that came out to 42$. I’d suggest they start adding the prices to their menus. Overall, the food is good, just a bit expensive for my taste.

The papusas were great. The only reason I gave the place 4 stars is cause I haven't had any of the other plates of food to be honest but I loved the pupusas....
