This place is terrible. If you think pork buns with mini pork burgers inside is the best, then you don't know pork buns plus at $3.50 each. It's the worst dumplings I've ever had. On top of that, I tried paying with a debit card and the ASIAN cashier asked if we can pay with cash so I handed him a $50 bill for our total bill of $21 and change. He hands me my change of $26 and change. He shorted me $2. I asked if this was right and right away he said "Oh, I need to give you $2 more". He didn't apologize. Being ASIAN and at the cash register, I automatically thought he was great at math plus the register would tell you the exact change. So this guy is trying to make side money by shorting customers. Count your change and really think if their dumplings are authentically fresh, store bought or from China. I think they are terrible.

Sorry to see you go Famous Dumpling House. When I moved into apartments nearby, I initially thought this street was terrible for quality cuisine. All I saw were car dealerships and cars zipping by. Who knew this neighborly restaurant would be a source of some of the best regional Chinese cuisine in San Jose. Those crab and pork XLB could only be matched by the best restaurants in the state. That's why I was surprised to see FDH go before the other dumpling restaurant across the street that opened when covid struck. Well, I'll have to settle for less now, kind of like life with covid.

This is the first time i ordered from the famous dumpling house. I was rather disappointed when the food came.1 Green tea salad was all mooshed together such that none of the flavors came through - excessively oily, barely got the green tea taste the cabbage was wilted 2 I ordered rice noodles - they sent Fried rice and nobody there seems interested in correcting the mistake or providing recompense and the rice was all glued together like it hae been sitting around for 20 hours until it became a mass of gelatinous goo3 Green beans and shrimp - the shrimp were so over cooked they were like pencil erasers hard little nubs. Further they were drowning in a super salty sauce which could only have been about a pint of soy sauce - only that flavor came through and nothing of the fresh beans etc4 Szechuan chicken - i ordered not too spicy. What I got waa cold chicken with tons of hot sauce all over it. inedible. Further when they cut the chicken they shattered the bones so the few mouthfuls i did have were like biting into broken glass.5 - 2 kinds of dumplings - impossible to tell them apart and the wrappers were pasty dough not light and delicate- the flavors were ok but i couldn't decipher which was which no sauces at all for the dumplings 6 cheese beef bun -- this was ok but after all the rest of these pieces i had little appetite left. All in all a really poor showing for a restaurant that seems to get a lot higher rating from others. i'll move on to other more deserving places than people that don't respond to my complaints.

They are open during quarantine! You can order through YELP (which is powered through Grubhub from what I believe). The dumplings really hit the spot for me after enter quarantine. I ordered the XLB and the Chives Pan Fried Dumplings. When I tell you that I ate them in the parking lot, I ate ALL of them in the parking lot. They were so good and hit the spot.I highly recommend this place! I also recommend calling and ordering, it's a bit cheaper without the surcharge through Grubhub! :)

Went today with my girls and it was delicious. We got the pork cabbage dumplings and a couple others. The pork and cabbage were my favorite. They take social distancing very seriously, but it was good regardless. They were very kind and answered all our questions as it was our first time

This spot is amazing. The service is also friendly and homely. I'm upset I haven't stumbled upon this location pre-covid so I could have dined-in. They're changing owners in a few weeks, and I fear things will change.Crab and Pork XLB*: Not very heavy on the crab flavour compared to DTF but crab notes are there, and still good. Xlb isn't overly soupy, but the meat is moist and flavourful.Pork XLB*: A pretty solid xlb. Xlb isn't overly soupy, but flavour is excellent. Dumpling skin is thin but durable, and the pork has a good ratio of meat to fat--almost melts in your mouth.*This was a to-go order and it's possible there was some soup-loss due to being packaged.Pan Fried Bun: These are one of my favourite treats and Famous Dumpling House nailed it. The bottom is very crispy and gets fluffier as you move up. The filling is less fatty version of the pork XLB. Very good. (I left the lid of these open on the drive home to keep the bottoms crispy)

Good stuff made my Friday night! I have been here before this pandemic and it was great.Quality is good in fact it was packed well for to go and was still super warm! The green dumpling was a little too salty but otherwise flavors were all on point, only sad piece was no vinegar or soy sauce with the order :( Try the sweet milk buns they are the bomb :) Thanks for being open dumplings make me happy

The owner of XLB house is super friendly, I came here with my boyfriend and his sister for a random weekday lunch before COVID. We ordered various dishes including crab XLB, regular XLB, philly cheese bao and pan fried pork buns. All of them exceeded my expectations to say the least. I would say on par with DTF. Another good thing was that we didn't have to wait, there weren't many customers at the restaurant so we just walked in and sat down.I originally hesitated on trying the cheese burger bao but I am so glad I did! It's an interesting twist and I love the melted cheese inside the bao with the beef, its really good. the XLBs were in good quality and was fresh.5/5I will order to-go soon from this place!

ok service. ok food. pan fried dumplings wasn't really juicy or crispy at the bottom. the beef in the beef noodle soup was pretty chewy. very average food in an area densely populated by other asian restaurants.

Got an order for2 XLB dumplings 1 small rice1 shrimp stir fry noodle1 Mongolian beef1 cheeseburger bao 1 Burmese tea leaf salad Total: 83 and change I was so excited as I've had famous dumpling house before and I know their XLB is delicious.I was disappointed when I got home and there was no vinegar dipping sauce and the dumplings had little to no soup. It tasted ok but I was so disappointed that there was hardly any soup ...Video posted) The second thing I tried was the tea leaf salad. It was already mixed and there was no lemon, which is very much a huge component. It was also short on tomatoes. The Mongolian beef was very hot sauce tasting, but the beef was velvety. My husband liked it but I wasn't a huge fan. The burger bao was pretty good. Well seasoned beef and good ratio of filling to bao. It was fast service , and they brought it out to our car., but I might go to XLB kitchen if I'm going for good XLB CheeseburgerCheeseburgerPork Xlb

I was craving dumplings so I hopped onto DoorDash. Not many options for dumplings, specifically xiao long bao, so I decided to try out Famous Dumpling House. It's been on my to-try list since pre-COVID days as well. I order.. PORK XIAO LONG BAO (8) $11.95 -pork soup dumplings. I asked for extra vinegar and chili sauce. Even though I got it delivered, there was still some juiciness to the xiao long bao! It was fatty and the meat was soft. Very tasty! PAN FRIED BUNS (6) $13.95 -pork filled pan fried buns. I asked for extra vinegar and chili sauce. The bun wasn't too thick. It had the crispy bottoms but the steam from being in the box made it no longer crispy. Meat was tasty. I could tell that if I had both xiao long bao and pan fried buns fresh at the restaurant then I'd totally be in love! I got an extra soy-vinegar sauce, as asked, but no chili sauce. FDH was sweet enough to write me a little note on a post-it, letting me know that they didn't give me any chili sauce because they weren't currently making it during this pandemic. Overall, Famous Dumpling exceeded my expectations! I really enjoyed via delivery, so I'll definitely try them in house once shelter in place has lifted!!

Decided to try this place out over our old spot in Sunnyvale and let me tell you I made the best choice. Due to the quarantine we're eating a lot take out anyways this place is absolutely the BEST FOOD I've eaten during this quarantine. We absolutely had it to go and let me tell you the food was still hot and as soon as we got home I devour it! We order pan fried buns and shrimp dumplings they both were 10/10!! Seriously as soon as you take a bite of the pan fried bun they melt into your mouth! It's like a food party in your mouth!! The dumplings are delicious the filling was cooked perfectly with great texture. They're offering 10% discount for takeout and they shouldn't the food is too good for them to sell it away. Definitely will continue ordering from here!!
