I have been in the restaurant business for over 35 years and your explanation does not satisfy me or many other people who feel the same way. Tip is supposed to be based on service and must be volunteer. Your suggestion that you added this because it was a holiday and you needed staff would be on your end and you must find a way to deal with it not the customers

It has been a while since I was there and I have no plans of returning. My ravioli dinner was tough and overcooked. With the prices here as well as Grandview I would expect all entries to be over the top but it wasn't. And I was too embarrassed to speak up. My mistake. But when you are dining with 3 other people one doesn't want to send back their dinner and make others wait for one's entree before starting their dinner so I just sucked it up. With their high prices, I would expect better of them and in all my past times at both restaurants, I have not encountered this problem. But at the same time, I do not care to risk the same results.

I'll start by saying that we had an enjoyable dinner overall. The Prawns Meuniere alone are almost worth the price of admission. They were perfectly prepared and scrumptious. The rack of lamb and veal cutlet were fine, but not quite up to the level of the prawns. But the corn soup was only so-so and the creme brulee was below par and we didn't even finish it. Service was friendly and prompt and the setting was nice.

The grilled prawns and the steak tartare were magnificent, each a step above their normal flavor profiles. We love game and both the elk and the bison were very well prepared. Our server, Alan, was not only attentive but also added a pleasant dimension to our dinner.

Amazing service, exquisite atmosphere, decadent food. The Soufflé was my favorite part of the whole meal. If you’re looking for a romantic atmosphere lost at the edge of a forest next to a beautiful creek river, this is the place to go to. ✨⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's always a pleasure to come back to the place where we were married to celebrate our anniversary. I appreciate that some things have remained the same yet there are some delightful improvements. Service and ambience was A+ as usual.

Amazing 50th birthday celebration for 8 people! The table was in a semi private area beautifully decorated with single stem roses and place settings in a festive atmosphere. The service was friendly and impeccable. Appetizers, cocktails, dinner were enjoyed by all. They wine and desert service were fabulous (we brought our own wine and cake - they served it). Overall very memorable evening enjoyed by everyone. Thank you La Foret!!

We are returning guests, having gone several times over the years. Last time, we ordered from the menu, not the tasting ones, as we had our eyes on certain things. Escargot, special salad and tornedos of beef. All were fabulous. Best tornedos I've had in a long time, perfectly cooked. Others had the scampi, salmon and quail. All just as excellent. Not inexpensive, but well worth for an upscale experience. BTY, drinks and service was impeccable.

I wanted to like it very much but just not worth the money. The service was impeccable but to say the food was average would be generous. The salad was wilted, the appetizer was not cooked properly and heavily over sauced. The entrees of steak and salmon were over cooked and the side dishes clearly had been prepped in mass at the beginning of the shift and warmed up. We ended with an espresso martini which was exceptional but unfortunately that was the only high note.

La Foret is a superb restaurant. The food is terrific. And it's different with all the wild game offerings. For example, you can get wild boar, venison, elk, quail, bison, and beef, and salmon, of course. And the quality of the food is just the best. The escargot is really perfect with the classic French sauce. The hearts of palm romaine salad was delicious. And the mushroom filled pasta and ahi tuna was unique and really delicious! I had the bison. The server said it was 8 ounces, but it was quite a sizable portion. And the French sauce was just exceptional side dishes. It was cooked perfectly along with the delicious mashed potatoes and vegetable side dishes. The venison was also perfect. You can't get a better dining experience anywhere. And La Foret is a beautiful restaurant! It's a great dining experience. It's a little pricey, but not unusual for what you are getting! You can't get a better meal.

La Foret - It’s a Trap!We drove an hour and a half to La Foret to taste what perhaps could’ve been an amazing French experience, but alas the food was marked by a series of culinary missteps that could not be overlooked, despite the impeccable service provided. The meal commenced with a salad that was as uninspired as it was basic. The overwhelming dressing masked any freshness or crispness that one might have expected, setting a precedent for the courses that followed. The mushroom soup, while acceptable, was forgettable, lacking any distinctive features that might have redeemed the opening act.The Ahi Tuna Crudo, a dish that should burst with freshness and precision, was marred by its lackluster presentation and taste. The inconsistency in the fillet's cut, combined with the chewiness of veiny bits, suggested a lack of attention to detail. Furthermore, the color and taste hinted at a piece of tuna that had lingered too long in the refrigerator rather than being served at the peak of its freshness. It was so stale that we had the dish subbed out with quail. The lamb shanks, while ordered to be medium rare, was a testament to overcooking, lacking any distinctiveness that could salvage the dish. The lobster, potentially a highlight with its natural flavor, was overshadowed by an overly acidic sauce that did more to detract than enhance.Among the few redeeming aspects, the scallops stood out for their freshness. However, even this dish was not without its faults, as the lack of a sufficient char and a tasteless sauce failed to elevate the scallops beyond acceptability. The meal concluded on a perplexing note with a soufflé that seemed more akin to an alcoholic beverage than a dessert, tasting strongly of vodka. The supposed “Grand Marnier” was nowhere to be found.Had this meal been $100, the dining experience might have been deemed acceptable, perhaps even earning a generous 3-stars. However, at the staggering cost of $450 we were charged for two, the value proposition becomes entirely unacceptable. It is worth noting, however, that the service at La Foret was exemplary. The staff's professionalism and attentiveness were the lone bright spots in an otherwise very disappointing visit. In conclusion, while La Foret presents itself as a destination for fine dining, the execution and lack of basic requirements in its dishes leave much to be desired. For those seeking a culinary experience that matches its price point, it may be wise to look elsewhere.

Food was abysmal. The interior decor was a little old timey as well however I knew that going into this place, sucks that it was raining so I couldn't get the outside dining experience which was the main selling point of this restaurant to me. We skipped appetizers and went straight to the entrees. My love chose the salmon and I chose the Tortellini La Foret. Both were physically unappealing to look at and the tortellini which came with mushrooms has about 5 mushrooms 4 of which were clumped together. The salmon was absolutely disgusting to look at and quite literally looked like food you would see at a retirement home. Taste wise, I do not know how, but it was worse than the appearance. I would never recommend eating here as it was easily the worst experience my love and I have ever had. Thankfully the server was super understanding and when I told her I would like to give the dishes back and honestly just leave she said that she was sorry for the experience and said it is okay and not to worry about it.

The food was very good; the service excellent; and the ambiance perfect for having a private conversation. This is a special restaurant where one can tell the owner and staff put a lot of effort into making everything exceptional. It's a treat to come here. We will be back the next time we have a special occasion.

For the 6-course menu, I would've expected something more exquisite. The food vs price didn't justify to me. When a high-end restaurant restricts me from choosing a good spread of delicacies, and limits it to a fixed menu instead, I'd expect it to meet high standards. I didn't like the Sparkling Water either - wasn't as crisp as I'd expect. The desserts were substandard. The adjacent table folks were extremely loud, and I expected a place that suggests its patrons to be well-dressed to also be well-behaved.
