I have visited this place a couple of times. I've tried different options from the menu and everything tasted very good, but my two favorites are the moussaka entree and the octopus in the appetizer section. All personnel was very friendly, even though the place was full both times, they never forget to smile, give the best attention possible to details, etc. Special mention to the restaurant manager, who had a fantastic customer focus and great service attitude. I will definitely visit this Greek tavern again!

Sadly during my 4th visit it seems like a lot of the dishes changed/went downhill. The delicious charred bread they use to serve was changed to some pedestrian sour dough type bread. The pork chop wasn't as delicious as before and worst of all the taramasalata (the one dish I always look forward to the most) went from amazing to mediocre/bleh. If I ever go back and the food has improved i'll update again.

Always great food . Good atmosphere. Loved the grilled octopus and lamb shank. Great for a nice evening out.

The ambiance is very mediterranean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Excellent food. Highly recommend. Always visit Nemea when in San Jose. The manager is extremely professional and friendly. We had a small issue with one of the dishes not being delivered with all others but he certainly took immediate corrective actions and rectified the situation. Could not ask for more.

Opening April 1, 2022! I hope to be back right away. I have so missed the smells and tastes of my favorite lamb dinners. All the delicious memories, I am really happy to see you are opening back up soon! !

Stopped here somewhat randomly last time I was in San Jose. It did not disappoint. Food, service and wine list were all excellent.

Recently took my mom here for Mother's Day and I have nothing but glowing things to say. We wanted to find a place to eat outside that was Mediterranean but wasn't something we had before. So glad we stumbled upon this place! The food is unbelievable! We ended up ordering 4 appetizers as we were eating because as we tried things, we wanted to try other things or wanted more of something! By the time our food came, we were already stuffed! The scallops and risotto I had was perfect, not over cooked or "fishy" at all. My dad had the lamb, and I've never seen him so happy! The vegetable casserole was another fan favorite of the table- very similar to ratatouille in texture. They have been affected by covid and their kitchen staff was serving the food slow, but it was no worries as they always kept the drink flowing!

The Dolmathes and Spanakopita appetizers were fabulous! Will definitely be returning. Following Covid protocols.

Al, the manager, served me personally and was excellent. The moussaka was great and very generous portions!!!

On business trips to San Jose, I've eaten at Nemea many times and have never been disappointed. They start you off with delectable bread; however, you should be careful not to overeat it as it is easy to overeat before dinner. The burning cheese appetizer, served with house-made pita bread, was our first course. The cheese is dipped in Brandy and then lit on the table; the effect is pure bliss.

Husband and I went here for my birthday dinner. Pros: The service was great, server was very attentive and thoughtful. Food was flavorful and good portion. We ordered mostly lamb dishes and we were happy with it. Cons: parking is expensive. Still highly recommended

After a couple of visits, It appears that Nemea is a hidden gem in downtown San Jose. I can understand how people may disregard it because of the location. As I was initially part of that. Dining at this establishment is truly a positive experience. The service is phenomenal, they have such attention to detail. No water glass was left empty and constant checking in. Food is amazing, the spinach appetizer and pita bread are my favorites. Simple but amazing. I love the veggie casserole as that is the only vegan option. Everyone else in my party loved it and we all rave about the food. I came here once precovid for a birthday dinner and that was amazing, and once this last week. We had the whole restaurant to our self, which made me sad to see but we did enjoy ourselves. The entire staff made sure we had the best time. We ordered multiple bottles of tequila and for waitress was on top of making sure our shots were chilled and had lime. She would shake it for us right at the table and replenish the ice and have limes for the entire party. I cannot wait to come again! Highly recommend it, especially if you are a meat-eater!

You know when you're done with fast food and want a special fine dining experience...this is the place!!! Had an amazing appetizer tasting platter (hummos, Greek yogurt cucumber dill, roasted eggplant, dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice and aromatic spices)), my husband had the delicious ribeye steak, my son had the chicken souvlaki. And yummy flan for dessert to finish. Service was amazing! Thank you for making this girl feel special and taken care of

This is a great restaurant! Food, drinks, and facilities are great. The staff was nice, and I was surprised by how fast they were, even though they were busy. Outstanding service all the way through here. This was my first visit, and I really enjoyed it. This place is nothing short of fantastic. It's highly recommended!
