Great sushi! They have tasty rolls. Located in Japantown in a great area. Their ambiance is cozy.

Despite all of the bad reviews, this place was actually pretty good. The waitress was very nice and provided quick service, there was a lot more sushi than expected, and it was just an overall chill vibe. And for once, I have pictures that prove how much sushi they provide per roll. We definitely got our money’s worth.Parking: Lots of free parking in a plaza. I was easily able to find parking near the restaurant.

I bought two boxes of California rolls for only 10 dollars! This is incredibly cheap for two big portioned boxes! The music there and staff were all very nice!

Nice and lovely restaurant. First they have free parking right next to the restaurant which is really convenient for me. The vibe really chill here with music and video of cooking on tivi. Food is excellent I got salmon donburi and is come with miso soup and salad, miso is hot and sweet and really good presentation of bowl over rice with fresh salmon on top. Salmon is really fresh with thick slices is also come with tamago and sushi rice on the bottom Really good combination. Service is nice and friendly. Will come back to check out other dish and roll.

Earlier today, my partner, a friend, and I arrived for lunch. We patiently waited to be seated. After about 10 minutes, a group of four people walked in, added their name to the waiting list, and were promptly seated. Surprisingly, the waiter completely disregarded us, despite me telling him we arrived first, supposedly because we hadn't added our name to the list. So, I added our names and waited another 15-minutes. Then, to our disbelief, a group of ladies entered, added their name to the list, and were seated right away, while we continued to wait. The services is terrible and they wasted half an hour of my time.

Dude who is making their sushi? A five year old? My small child can do better california rolls. And did you see the wasabi? Holy smokes it looks like green play dough. This place is a hot mess. Think whomever is running this place is going to run it to the ground.

The food wasn't great, the inside looked like it could you a nice clean up. But the worst of all was when she brought my receipt with my total and after I gave her my card she brought it back with an extra charge. Not sure if she was tipping herself or what, didn't bother asking since I'll never be back anyways.

After attending church in Japantown, a friend of mine was intent on eating Japanese food. On Sundays, Okayama is one of the few choices available. While undergoing remodeling, Okayama sells a mini bento for $10 in front of the restaurant with a few tables and chairs outside or you can dine in by entering through the back. We chose the latter. For our lunches, here's what we had: saba + gyoza bento saba + fried scallop bento chicken + maki sushi + teriyaki ribs bento Everyone enjoyed their lunch and there was plenty of food. Eating saba and rice is a comfort food for my dining companion and myself and I highly recommend ordering it if you're into saba. Although service was very competent, there were no smiles to be had.

This ain't it, Fam!! This is not the spot if you have expectations of any kind... My family and I came here because the neighboring sushi joint we wanted to go to had such a long long wait. I stood around in the blustery cold awaiting on the 15 minute time frame to pass and once it did, I continued to hold on a bit longer. Unfortunately, my kid was growing HANGRY so we decided to find a different option. In comes Okayama Japanese. Once we arrived, a small crowd followed suit. Obviously the long lines at other sushi establishments were packed and being that we are in the middle of Lent, everyone and they mama seemed to want this type of cuisine. Our party immediately signed in and we were left standing around. Not a single person acknowledged any of the patrons, not a brief smile provided, not a single peep... the employees were obviously busy but the bare minimum wasn't even provided. There was quite a bit of standing idle and no shortage of patrons mumbling about the lack of service. Our party of 4 were eventually seated with menus and we were left sitting around. Flagging employees was tough- I'm not sure if the restaurant was just super loud or if we were blatantly being ignored due to the staff being over it all. After multiple attempts, we finally got through. I immediately placed our order for: *Tempura App [shrimp & vegetables] *Edamame *Philadelphia Roll *California Roll *Dragon Roll *Lion King Roll *Qui-Gon Roll *Crunch Roll *Deep Fried Oysters [5pc] *Miso Soup x2 *Side Order of Tobiko Food: Miso soup came out first and that basically set the tone for the entire meal. The soup was very mediocre- flavoring was very light, possibly due to watering it down to stretch the broth??? The rolls were very poorly rolled and fell apart upon being picked up, they all tasted the same, and the crunchy tempura bits that topped the crunch roll didn't taste fresh. The side order of tobiko never came out and we had to order again through a different staff member. To simplify, the entire meal itself wasn't good. 1 star. Not only was the food not good but even with all of our large purchases, our meal lightweight eventually started feeling a bit rushed. At that point there wasn't even any long lines of consumers.. so nothing really justified that. Meh!! Not worth the calories, the wait, or any of the grief.

A fun place to visit San Jose's own Japantown. I enjoyed the food, simple ambiance and quick service. Japantown is one of my favorite little satellite neighborhoods in San Jose. It's small, but always worth a visit. This little restaurant has been around for years and remains a local favorite. The decor inside is simple and the tables are full of regulars. Don't be afraid to ask for a recommendation from the server. Expand your horizons here.

Great lunch spot - been going here for years now and it's always classic. Excellent quality salmon sashimi (sake), lots of great rolls, and a flavorful miso soup. Does not disappoint! Salmon donburi is a very generous portion and soo buttery smooth. Great variety of rolls for both the raw and the cooked sushi lovers, as well as some veggie options (I think.) Their croquettes are also one of my favorites. Reliable solid service and great quality food. Chill place, great place for conversation or for going out with friends for lunch/dinner.

I originally wanted to eat at Sushi Maru at San Jose Japan Town. There was a line and waiting list at Sushi Maru so, we decided to try Okayama for my first time. When I arrived, Okayama was about 1/4 full of customers. We were seated quickly. We gave our order and the sushi arrived relatively quickly. The sushi tasted fresh and the portions were bigger than i'm used to. I enjoyed the food very much The 2 waitresses were terrible. We asked for ice water on 3 separate occasions and we were eating without anything to drink. Waitresses never stopped by to ask if we needed anything. My friends got mad at me because i left a tip. Enjoy the tip because we not coming back We paid our bill and our to go order was just sitting by the chef. We wait an additional 15 minutes and had to remind the waitress that we're still waiting for our to go order Waitresses here are so unorganized. Keep in mind that only a few customers were here. Now i see clearly why Sushi Maru has a waiting line out the door and Okayama has only a few customers Food is good but service is terrible! Sorry, we're not coming back here again

We went there 3 times to try different dishes. We have tried sushi rolls, ramen, tonkatsu, and bento boxes. The quality is average, service is OK, and the environment is nothing special. I felt that with inflation rising, the quality of food decreased. The ramen and miso soup lack flavor and the rolls are supermarket quality and the tip starts at 18%, which I find expensive.
