Had a wonderful time going here. Instead of getting a table I sat at the bar and was enthralled in discussion with the chefs and servers who were incredibly kind and accommodating towards allergies. The food recommendations were fantastic. Ordered the bruschetta, spinach and bacon and tiramisu. It was crowded around 5 so I recommend calling in for a reservation unless you’re a party of 1-2 and can find a bar seat.

This is the real thing. Italian dining in a bustling comfortable space. It has the glorious diner relaxed atmosphere but in a sophisticated old world downtown eatery. Think Tadich Grill but Italian mobster chic!

Nice home town no frills Italian restaurant. I sat at the counter and ordered Eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. The dish came in less than 10 minutes. However, the spaghetti had meat sauce (they didn't ask me which sauce I preferred and I assumed it came with marinara), and I think I saw the cook preparing the eggplant on the same grill as meat and fish. So, probably not the best choice for strict vegetarians.Vegetarian options: Check with your waiter about whether a dish is vegetarian. Some items might be prepared on the same surfaces as meat.

Prices are a bit of a sticker shock as they are charging the same as what I pay in NYC at a Fine Dining, even Michelin starred restaurant!They changed the uniforms which was akin to old Hollywood Brown Derby, with waiters in suits but it’s still elegant: all black with tie. Yes families can be comfortable and casual. Atmosphere is beautiful and classic, like stepping into a Time Machine back to the late 50s-early 60s.Service was great! Which we needed after being treated without care at a place called O’Flarretys in San Pedro Square. The waiter, Travis was helpful and caring: made sure my Dad got what he needed and offered helpful suggestions like tonic and bitters for an upset stomach. He showed experienced service. I appreciated it!Original Joes is an upscale Italian diner masked as a fancy restaurant downtown open later than the others. It’s consistent and you can count on it! If it’s not landmarked it should be. Hope it’s always there… aging like a fine wine. Thanks Original Joes

Really regret choosing this place on our date night. Food was disgusting, all of it even the bread which they brought out cold. The waiter we had to flag down twice because he didn't ever stop and ask if we needed anything. He wasn't really busy either.
